Doesn't this contravene the law, or am I misunderstanding something?
For clarity, the image says "A 1.2% hospitality service charge applies to all accounts. This charge contributes towards the costs associated with providing our hospitality services."
There's also a 10% surcharge but that's explicitly only for Sundays and public holidays, and that's in line with guidelines. However, the 1.2% charge applies every day, to all payment methods, and my understanding is that is not permissible.

This is something I’ve been genuinely curious about, and I’d love to hear from people aged 60+ who are comfortable sharing their experiences.
For those who are single, recently divorced, widowed, or have found themselves back in the dating world later in life, what’s it actually like out there?
A few things I’ve wondered about:
Dating and romance: Is it still relatively easy to meet people, develop feelings and find a new partner in your 60s, 70s or beyond?
Casual relationships: Is there much of a casual dating or hookup scene for older people, or does it tend to be more focused on finding a long-term partner?
Sex and intimacy: If someone is single but still wants sex, physical intimacy or companionship without necessarily wanting another serious relationship, are there opportunities to find that?
Meeting people: How do people actually meet nowadays? Dating apps, social groups, friends, pubs, or just by chance?
Starting over: If you’ve lost a partner, been widowed, or come out of a long marriage, what has your experience been like trying to find romance or intimacy again?
I’m particularly interested in hearing from people here as I imagine the dating scene here might be a little different from that in a larger city.
I’m not trying to be disrespectful or make assumptions about anyone’s life. I’m genuinely interested in what romance, attraction and intimacy look like as we get older here, because I think people don’t talk about this side of ageing very openly.
Whether your experience has been positive, disappointing, surprising or somewhere in between, I’d be interested to hear it. And if you’re happy to share your perspective as someone who is single and over 60, I’d love to hear from you.

It's supposed to a be a beautiful, warm, blue sky weekend. Hobart at its best!
What's the best thing to do in Hobart and surrounds when the weather is great?
I'm thinking maybe a drive up the east coast with my family, but would love to hear other suggestions!

Anyone know what the colours on the bridge tonight mean? Red white and blue
A scary time to be Tasmanian knowing our inept government might leave you to die in your greatest moment of need...
Thoughts with the family. I hope they find peace & justice.

I often hear the argument that Hobart is the driest capital city in Australia, but I never felt that was right.
So, I did some research.
According to the Bureau of Meteorology, Hobart is actually the wettest (edit: has the highest frequency of rainy days)!
Hobart gets measurable rain on roughly 44% of days, yet comparatively little rain accumulates over the year.
It's often light showers or drizzle rather the substantial downpours that Brisbane and Sydney receive.
We have the most wet days with any recordable rain (over 0.2mm) (edit: but despite having the most wet days by a fair margin, we can't, apparently, claim the title of wettest).
Most rainy days per year:
Wettest by total:
So, Hobart: 1st for rainy days, but 7th for total rainfall.
And yes, I am bored today, because it is drizzling outside (but not raining!)
EDIT: After apparently causing a stir among the pedantic wordsmiths, I've replaced the word "wettest" with the more meteorlogically precise "highest frequency of rainy days".
My apologies to those who found the original terminology so deeply distressing.

Hi all,
To all the Dutchies in Hobart, where do you get your Dutch supplies?
Eg; Hagelslag, karnemelk, drop.
I know I can get stroopwafels in Wollies sandy bay.
Danjewel.

Hey everyone, can I get some opinions on Sorell school, for primary and high school aged kids. Would also appreciate some other school recommendations in Eastern Hobart, preferably public school, would possibly consider private school.

This was so well written and deserves more attention.
Whoever you choose you can't deny that it's been... an entertaining election 😳

Has anyone seen any increase in fines lately? Our household has received 3 in the last week. Is it our bad driving, or is something going on? Less tolerance or the like? Caught doing 78, 79 and 81.

As above. I want to hang an indoor swing and need to find out if our ceiling beams can safely support the load. Google suggests that I consult a structural engineer and that seems sensible enough. Can anyone suggest a suitable company/engineer to approach for such a tiny/niche job?

Looking for suggestions for either clinics or particular GPs who may be able to help me with some continuity moving forward. I live in the Derwent Valley and don't have a regular GP, however I need one moving forward who accepts new patients, and can be my go to GP while I'm working with a psych on my ADHD. This includes being able to prescribe the medication. It seems I can only find GPs who accept new patients but explicitly state they do not prescribe S8 medication, which leaves me in a pickle. I'm happy to travel, I already use Your Hobart Doctor but I've had fairly inconsistent care from them so open to any suggestions. It's hard for me to figure out how I can have a psych ready to help, but I can't get a GP who can also assist. Any help appreciated.

Okay, so to put it plainly, I’m really struggling to find a candidate who isn’t a numpty. I’m sure there is at least one good egg in the bunch but the annoying, self absorbed idiots with bad ideas and no common sense keep getting pushed to the forefront.
Who do people think are actually good? That will put the best interests of Hobart first. Actually try to make an effort on improving things like the roads, the community, healthcare, infrastructure etc, etc.

Has anyone got a list or knows what political party affiliation the candidates have?
