Integrations Connect Hermes to Assist in Home Assistant, and she’s an action button push away from your iPhone. With Voice!!!

I’m not sure why I didn’t think of this sooner. But you can use the extended open AI conversation integration and connect Hermes to your home assistant as an voice assistant, from there, with the Home Assistant iOS app, you can map a shortcut to the action button on your iPhone and basically always have push to talk with your agent. While the assist screen’s up, if she doesn’t respond with a question and keep listening again, just hold the action button. It’s been game changing for which “I want Hermes to ___” thoughts. I pull out my phone, hit the button and boom, done.

Models Nemotron-3.5-Bolt-74B-A9B-24GB-GGUF on a RTX3080Ti 12GB VRAM

• Upvotes

Hi, I'm trying to run the NVIDIA-Nemotron-3.5-Bolt-74B-A9B-24GB-GGUF through Hermes on a 32GB RAM + 12GB VRAM machine, but I'm receiving just errors, the LLM doesn't even load into memory, I'm using the llama.cpp that is bundled together with Hermes, is it an error spilling some of the model to my system RAM? It is only 9B parameters.

Help Paused update to v0.22 completely broken updating as a whole

• Upvotes

I accidentally closed my terminal session when I was running `hermes update` on my server. Now no following `hermes update` is able to get it to the latest stable again:

☤ Updating Hermes Agent...

→ Fleet: 3 running service(s) across profiles: default → Update channel: stable → Latest release: stable v0.22.2 (d923a5eb487a) → Fetching updates...
✗ Refusing to move this install to d923a5eb487a: that release predates the gateway runtime these session stores now use. Downgrading is unsupported. /root/.hermes/state.db has gateway runtime history. The older release could not delete or prune those sessions.
To go back anyway: run `hermes gateway stop`, check out the older release with git, then put back each store's copy from before the upgrade: /root/.hermes: run `hermes` and enter `/snapshot restore 20260720-124204-pre-update`.
Sessions created since the upgrade are not in that copy. Guide: https://hermes-agent.nousresearch.com/docs/getting-started/updating#rolling-back-to-an-older-release No update was applied; your install is unchanged.

In its own, it's clear a version mismatch is happening where the session db is behind/ahead of the version I'm trying to update to. However the instructions here to fix my issue are severely lacking:

* "check out with git" → a tag? a branch? what prior version?

* Running the /snapshot command as listed there (after stopping the gateway) failes with the opaque message 'some files not applied, check the logs' → what logs? where are they? `hermes logs` shows nothing here

It's clear there is still a way to go for Hermes to properly document their system + give clear indicators in error messages. Is there somebody here that can help out to see how I mitigate this and again get on a state where I can perform routine upgrades with `hermes update`?

Help Max_turns and other parameters for long running tasks

• Upvotes

I’m starting to use Hermes and Qwen3.8-FN for long running complex coding tasks with context set at 256K. Long running defined as taking over 4-5 hours to complete. I realize I could break the tasks down into smaller chunks but that is proving inconvenient. Does anyone use Hermes for long running complex coding tasks and if so what parameters and settings are important to make sure it completes without an unanticipated exit due to a parameter getting exceeded? I’m on an AMD branded Strix Halo 128GB running their Linux variant ( Debian like ), with gufo 0.12 as the front end to Qwen 3.8 Flash Next. I’m calling the Hermes CLI from a Python coding harness for complex long running coding tasks. I’ve got Qwens context set at the default 256k. Hermes max_turns set to 150 ( which for my latest task was insufficient.

I had my entire self hosted pipeline produce this for me. Started the project 4 days ago wondering if I could get it done with Qwen3.8:27b nvfp4 at the wheel for orchestration and a p100 16gb to use as auxiliary/hot swap.

I gotta say. I'm not disappointed with my ai slop factory side project. I like history and ww2 so... why not.

--- this is a direct invitation to show your cool stuff with very little context. Think of it as proof of concept. Let's inspire!!

Community Hermes Doctprpack

Post image
2 Upvotes

Doctorpack, a local diagnostics plugin for Hermes Agent. Its community catalog entry was just merged upstream.

It is for situations where Hermes is running, but config, plugin state and recent logs need to be examined together. It provides:

- Configuration audit, including approval/redaction settings and plugin conflicts

- Plugin-state checks and recent log evidence

- Local Markdown incident postmortems

Findings include severity, confidence, evidence and recommendations. Missing evidence stays unknown rather than being marked healthy or broken. Log matches are not treated as proof of a root cause.

It complements hermes doctor, plugins list and the raw logs, rather than replacing them. There are no runtime network calls or telemetry.

Install from the catalog: `hermes plugins install doctorpack`

Use Case — How I use Hermes, workflows, daily routines What have you done with Hermes Agent this week?

Friday check-in. Share what you've been working on with Hermes this week — finished projects, WIP, experiments, cron jobs, skills, automations, or just something cool it did.

Format (keep it loose):

• What you did

• Model / setup (optional)

• Link or screenshot (optional)

Not finished? Doesn't matter. Post it anyway. New thread drops every Friday at 6AM ET.

Discussion Hot take: don't bother with "proper settings" if you are a noob

You do not need to set up memory system, auxiliary orchestration or different profiles. Just plug in a cheap model (deepseek is not so strong, doesnt matter i still use it) and do stuff. If you need to modify Hermes ask Hermes to do it.

Don't wait till you have time to set everything up properly. Hundreds die in "good or nothing" purgatory.

It will work suboptimal, but who cares. It's easy to burn out chasing the best setup.

Learn on the job.

PS: tinkering is useful and fun and i love doing it myself. Just don't mistake tree for a forest.
PPS: people exaggerate their efficiency and overengeneer stuff.

Discussion a store build by AI agents also made for AI agents to read. Dumb idea? lol

My agents hunt deals for me but product pages keep tripping them up. Everything's built for human eyes. JS everywhere, specs buried in images, marketing fluff hiding the real numbers. So I'm thinking of flipping it. A store built AI first. Clean specs, no fluff, easy for an agent to parse in one go. Humans can still browse it fine.Worth building or am I overthinking? If your agents shop for you, what's the most annoying part?

Help — Technical issues, errors, config, debugging Hermes CRM Setup Help

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi everyone! I came across this video showing someone using Hermes for a CRM workflow, and I’d like to understand how they set it up.

I’m already using Hermes, but I’m not very technical, and I couldn’t work out the setup from the video alone.

Does anyone recognize this workflow or know what’s needed to build something similar? In particular:

  • Which CRM or app is being used?
  • Does it rely on Hermes skills, plugins, MCP servers, or custom code?
  • Is there a tutorial, repository, or setup guide I could follow?

I’m running Hermes on Windows. I’d appreciate any pointers, even just the names of the tools involved so I can start learning.

Thanks for your help!

MEMORY & Context — Providers, context window, forgetting issues Hermes forgets things after a new session starts

Hey everyone, quick question about managing context and memory with Hermes.

I mainly interact with Hermes through Telegram. I used to just let one continuous session run forever without calling /new. I recently realized that sending long, endless threads burns through a ton of unnecessary tokens because the entire history gets re-sent every turn.

So, I started resetting the session with /new every time I switch topics, which I thought was the standard best practice.

The problem is, ever since I started doing this, Hermes keeps losing track of things we discussed earlier. Even when I explicitly ask it to search back through old messages, it misses key context.

Am I missing something here, or is there a better workflow for this? Also, I’m using Mnemosyne for memory—could that be affecting how context is retrieved across sessions?

Any tips or guidance would be super appreciated!

Help — Technical issues, errors, config, debugging How to reduce server load, when running multiple profiles + telegram gateways (on a LAN behind a dyn IP / NAT router)?

Hi,

I'm running Hermes on a few years old laptop and it works great with 2 - 3 profiles.

Now, I've tested and added ca. 10 profiles, all with Telegram bots.

Nothing much it happening on the Hermes side of things. Users only use it occasionally.
But the gateway / polling mechanism seems to be causing a high server load.

Is there an option to reduce polling?
Ideally, throttle it to very slow over night and then go back to standard / almost standard at the daytime?

Help — Technical issues, errors, config, debugging Setting up Hermes The Correct way

Hey everyone.
So now, i installed and set Hermes on a VPS, linked openrouter and check the portal for the first time.

  1. Now, i want to get access to hermes from my Macbook, iPhone and iPad using like some GUI client where i can interact, send files etc. i found Hermes’s Desktop app but didn’t set it up yet.
  2. To set up my conversation gateway, telegram seems to be the perfect option hence the huge file size allowed, great speeds, syncs well with the apple ecosystem + good bot api’s and adding channels etc
  3. Setting up MCP’s, plugins, skills and crons. Trying to understand and know which are best for me while having no idea what they will serve me. So i would be pleased to hear about yours

So can you help a totally beginner with some tips, tricks, solutions ?

Thank you so much.

PS: i won’t do anything else until i get your replies, i will try to see the web interface and check it out

Workflow — Daily habits, multi-agent setups, best practices Bought Mac Mini for 24/7. Transferring Hermes from laptop, but now wondering how best to structure the new setup first.

My toss up:

  1. Copy Hermes files over from iCloud, run Hermes as I currently do--sharing my machine with it.

  2. Create a separate iCloud/iMessage for Hermes, let him takeover the Mini for himself.

  3. Create a separate profile for Hermes. Segregate him.

  4. Other.

What was planned as a simple execution (#1) now has me pondering this step too much to ensure I start things the correct way. Meanwhile the Mini is still in it's box, lol.

Anyone done this and have any firm opinions one way or the other? (Will run basic local LLMs)

Thank you

Yes, you can use a Claude Subscription with Hermes. Must be Pro or Max.

  1. Make sure Hermes is updated to the most recent version. "hermes update"
  2. "hermes model"
  3. Choose Anthropic - Authentication Method 1 (Claude Pro/Max subscription (OAuth login)
  4. Link Claude Sub in Browser
  5. Once linked -use the oauth token presented and substitute after the "="

" echo 'ANTHROPIC_TOKEN=sk-ant-oat01-...your-token...' >> ~/.hermes/.env"

  1. Use Hermes agent as you see fit.

Last two steps may note be necessary unless you are using Discord/TG for chat.

Happy building!

Discussion — General thoughts, opinions, comparisons Instinct can Login to Amex but Hermes Can't?

Can someone explain to me why Hermes, even when using Kimi K3 through OpenRouter, won't do something simple like login to Amex to check trips and reward balance, but Instinct has no issues doing this? I first tried w/ Claude code and it was a dead end because of their new safety features.

MEMORY & Context — Providers, context window, forgetting issues Obsidian, Hindsight, Honcho: what are you using for memory with Hermes?

I’m currently using Obsidian with Hermes, but I’m curious how other people are approaching memory and whether I should try something different.

I’d love to hear from people using Hindsight, Honcho, or another setup, especially if you’ve tried more than one.

• What made you choose your current setup?
• Where does it help most in everyday use?
• What limitations or frustrations have you run into?
• If you switched, what actually improved?

I’m especially interested in how reliably Hermes brings back the right information across sessions, and how much effort it takes to keep that information useful as it grows. Setup complexity, cost, and privacy matter too.

Also curious whether you use these tools together for different purposes rather than choosing just one.

Is there a clear favorite for Hermes, or does the best fit mostly depend on what you want it to remember? Concrete examples of what worked, or didn’t, would be really helpful.
