Bi-Weekly Self-Promo thread! Please post and flourish(BUT PLEASE read the rules before posting).

# This is the Bi-Weekly self promotion thread.

**It has become clear that there are a lot of herbal small businesses and people in our community for whom their herbal passion is also a business. While Herbal business is not the focus of this sub it is undeniable that herbal business is a part of the herbal community and supporting the herbal community IS what this sub is for.**

To that end, we intend, to start making weekly self promotion threads; where any and all self-promo can take place(with some rules).

**1. No posting self promo outside of the Self-promo-threads**(except by explicit cooperation of the mods, if your an author or publisher or non-for-prophet please reach out to us directly using mod-mail)

**2. NO selling anything that is illegal federally,** or that is illegal in California Illinois or New York or the city of Chicago or that can not be legally sent through the mail.

**3. NO ASKING USERS TO DM YOU!** You may ask users to comment under your post to request for YOU to DM-THEM and you may include links to off-site storefronts but if we see a post soliciting users to PM-you the post will be removed(this is an accountability and user safety rule)

**3a.** this isn't a strict rule, but we would prefer if off sight links lead to a storefront and not directly to a product page. This does not mean that your post can't advertise or show pictures of a particular product or products, however making the attached link lead to your shops front page instead of a specific product page helps users confirm legitimacy safety and overall vibe of vendors. This isn't a rule now but might become a rule if we start getting user complains that we think could be decreased if this became a rule. In the mean time consider it a best practice for this sub.

**And that's it! Have fun Be productive and may the great river of acquisition be quick & calm and flow ever toward profit!**

Question Making my first mullein tea for bronchitis

• Upvotes

I have recently come down with sone lung inflammation and I'm looking to prepare some mullein tea to see if it will help. Is there any specific way you guys prepare it, and are there any side effects from it? I'm thinking of steeping some leaves that I have and then running them through a coffee filter. I have read that smoking the leaves from a pipe can help too. For those who have done both, which way do you feel helps releive lung inflammation the best?

Question Resources for researching plants and herbs?

Hi My current favorite oc I've made for roleplay purposes is supposed to be a traveling apothecary, but I realized I don't actually know a whole lot about plants and herbs. Since I use him for multiple rps with different settings, he's also take on the role of just a general travelling doctor, and I often decide to just use real world herbs because of the settings not having an established set of plants. I was wondering if there were any resources out there for researching herbs and their uses? As well as potentially poisonous plants for a potential evil version of my character I'm planning on making.

Sorry if this is an odd question

I'd also just generally like to know more about herbs and stuff because I find it pretty interesting

Liver support

Hi everyone. I got diagnosed with tuberculosis in the beginning of September and I got a liverinfection from the medication. My AST and ALT keeps on being too high. Is there anything natural I can do to help my liver handling the medication? Is there something I should try eating more off? I am vegan so I prefer plant based suggestions. Thanks in advance ❤️

Comfrey Toxicity: Why Dosage and Context Matter — Let's Look at the Actual Studies

I’m honestly tired of seeing medicinal herbs like comfrey (Symphytum officinale) labelled as toxic without discussing the actual circumstances behind the studies.

Let’s look at the reported cases:
1. Bach et al. (1989)
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/2741990/

Up to 10 cups of comfrey tea daily PLUS tablets for over a year. Outcome: Serious liver injury.

2. Weston et al. (1987)
https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC1247038/

A 13-year-old consumed comfrey-containing tea for approximately 2–3 years, with the exact dosage unknown. Outcome: Liver injury.

3. Yeong et al. (1990)
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/2103401/

A 23-year-old reportedly ate 4–5 comfrey leaves daily for around two weeks. Outcome: Fatal liver failure.

4. Scientific review (2018)
https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC5894094/

Discusses a case involving approximately six months of consumption, with an estimated exposure of at least 85 mg of toxic alkaloids. Outcome: Serious liver injury.

Here’s my point: DOSAGE AND CONTEXT MATTER.

Even excessive water consumption can be dangerous. The same applies to food, cloves, other herbs, supplements, and pharmaceutical medications.

Everything deserves a proper dose-dependent evaluation.

I’m not denying these reported injuries. I’m questioning why the quantities, duration, and circumstances aren’t discussed more openly.

Some cases involved prolonged or unusually heavy consumption, while others show that serious injury can also occur after shorter exposure with alot of intake in a short period.

Why are medicinal herbs so often reduced to a simple “toxic” label, while pharmaceutical drugs are discussed in terms of dosage, benefits, and risks and never put in bad daylight i wonder why? 🤣 🤑

I’m tired of the double standards. Traditional medicinal plants deserve transparent, balanced scientific discussion, not fear-based oversimplification.

Show the studies. Show the doses. Show the full context. Let people judge the evidence.

Question Seeking guidance choosing spagyrics for 10 years of chronic bladder pain and endometriosis

Hi there! I’ve been told to look into spagyrics for my chronic pain and would love help from experienced alchemists to make sense of things.
I’ve had chronic bladder pain and reproductive issues for 10 years. I had endometriosis surgery 2 years ago, which alleviated most of my pain, but the bladder pain is still a mystery despite lots of tests and scans. I did find ureaplasma and cleared it with antibiotics. I tested negative and was fine for 6+ months, but it has flared again. I haven't tested.
My bladder symptoms are burning / pressure / urgency /, and flares are triggered by stress, sex, and maybe certain foods.
My TCM practitioner says I tend to run damp with yang deficiency, so cold and damp overall, even though the bladder itself feels hot and burning.

Chart:
• Sun in Taurus

• Moon in Pisces

• Venus in Aries

• Ascendant in Virgo

• Mercury in Taurus

• Mars in Leo

• Jupiter in Libra

• Saturn in Aquarius (6th house)

The sellers’ formulas, tinctures and essences are all a bit over my head, so I’d love some guidance:

  1. Where would you start, with a single essence or a formula?

  2. Would you aim to warm and dry my overall constitution, or cool the bladder heat, or both?

  3. Is there anything that suits my chart specifically?

Thank you very much!

Dumping used herbs in backyard

I usually dump used herbs into my backyard to feed the soil. But I’m worried about doing this with licorice root - would that attract rodents since it’s sweet? Or is it not the kind of sweet rodents like?

Lemon balm making me irritated/anxious?? Help!

Thumbnail

Long story short.. I bought some lemon balm because I need something to keep me calm during my day teaching. I suffer from anxiety already, I get that globus feeling in my throat and my tongue seizes up. I’m already on lexapro. I am constantly feeling overstimulated working with children all day. Don’t get me wrong, I love them but they keep my nervous system strung all day. Anyways, I wanted something that helps instantly so I feel good all day so I thought I’d give lemon balm a try. My first day taking it, I thought I was going to have a panic attack and feeling super cranky irritated. But I thought maybe it was circumstances; preparing for PT conferences, getting observed, and MIL in hospital all in one week. Second day I woke up feeling fine but thought I better get ahead of the ball before my day gets chaotic. I instantly felt irritated and had a tight chest. My chest got tighter the more I thought about it. Sometimes I get in my own head too. Should I stop? Take a smaller dose? I took one whole tincture tube every few hours. Too much?
Sorry this was so long. Just wanting to find any insight. Any other herbs that work instantly that I could try instead. Thanks so much!

Question Dual practicing HCPs & medical herbalists (UK)

To anyone who is a practicing medical herbalist and also healthcare professional (in the UK), can you say if there are any specific cautions or advice you would give to anyone who currently works in a registered HCP role who is looking to become a medical herbalist?

How do regulatory bodies view their members working in complementary medicine?

Have you encountered any barriers or has it actually been easier, more beneficial for you given your background?

Thanks

Milky Oat Tops, anyone selling for cheap?

Hello everybody, I'm just wondering if there are any herbalists here whom are growing and harvesting milky oat tops and willing to sell them to me for cheaper than what I'm finding online? I have severe MECFS, dysautonomia and POTs. I would love to be able to take a high dose of milky oat tops but they are so dang expensive. I bought a 2oz bottle for close to $30 with shipping and if I were to take a full dose for deep nervous system restoration it should be 15-20ml per day, the bottle would be gone in like 3 days! For an herb that takes weeks of supplementation to slowly build effectiveness that would be several hundreds of dollars. I wish I could grow and harvest it myself, but alas. I'm going to try to stretch this 2oz bottle for a month but I fear that dosage won't be strong enough to help me out considering how f'd my nervous system is. Any thoughts and advice is much appreciated, thank you!

Question Turmeric Milk

The grocery store had fresh turmeric and I got some to make Turmeric Milk. I do not know how to make it.

My eyes are burning and I think I am going to get a fever due to the changing weather.

The recipe I know uses turmeric powder, milk, freshly ground black pepper - let it boil, then add honey to taste.

How do I add the fresh turmeric? Does it have any benefit? Does it work for a fever?

Ginseng strip 2026

I went to the Chinatown in Toronto with my mom first I went to Kensington market to get dark Haitian coffee then I passed a shroom shop I told my mom I was looking for something to focus and energize me for university but she changed my mind about the shrooms telling me the comedown will make me regret this initiative so we walked a little bit more into Chinatown and I arrived to an herbalist shop run by a lady I told her straight as I arrive I was looking for something to "kick me into high gear" and she recommended ginseng roots I bought it for for a hefty price but the prize was there not even 1 hours after having taken it at home I already felt more alive and more focus than ever it felt like a full body neurogenesis I highly recommend ginseng if you'd like to rise like a Phoenix it is like cannabis vigour but without the possible side effects that people often have... (at least for me)

Ginseng 9.5/10

What is a standard culinary herb that proved to be more effective for your digestion than expensive formulas?

It is very common when starting out with herbs to chase rare imported botanicals and complex blends in dropper bottles. Over time, many people realize that basic fresh kitchen herbs do the heavy lifting much more gently. Brewing fresh crushed mint leaves for nausea, steeping rosemary for mental clarity and bile support, or chewing a little fresh ginger root before meals. Which everyday kitchen herb completely surprised you with how well it works?
