How Did This Get Made? #408: Happy Birthday to Me
The 1981 teen slasher Happy Birthday to Me has a wild twist ending that you could never predict, but Paul, Jason, and June try nonetheless to make sense out of all the bonkers plot turns leading up to the reveal of the killer. Along the way they discuss how everyone in The Top 10 looked too similar, Ginny's inappropriate relationship with her therapist, if shish kebab is a romantic midnight snack, how Ginny has a bidet but not a toilet, and so much more. Plus, the gang debates if it's acceptable to pee in the shower. Mark my words, you won't want to miss this episode!

Horror Movies They've Done That are Worth a Watch?
I love the show but if I haven't seen the movie I ususally can't really get into an episode. I want to watch horror movies for spooky season and listen to the episodes about them but I also don't want to waste hours of my time watching movies that aren't at least fun to watch. What horror movies have they done that you think are genuinely worth the time to watch?

Has there ever been a list compiled of movies they recommend?
I’ve seen lists of the movies they’ve covered, just wondered if anyone had narrowed it down to ones they recommend?

happy birthday to me- anyone else..? Spoiler
upon the reveal that it was “a twin” did anyone else stop to think the brain surgery using salamander dna (?) resulted in a twin being “generated”? obvs, before the “mask” was ripped off.. but we paused it and tried to make sense of it all and that’s what we came up with- before the real reveal made us go “what!?”😂🎂

Solo
I remember this being on Showtime(?) all the time during the summer of ‘97. I didn’t bother to look up if HDTGM did one on this movie. If not, please!
This is the plot:
Mario Van Peebles stars as an android killing weapon designed by the military and utilized to enter into a Latin American war to destroy the rebels - natives fighting simply to maintain their freedom. Contrary to his programming, he develops an affinity for the villagers and decides to help them fight back. This lets his creators bring him back and ultimately leads to one of them being given more powerful circuitry to defeat him.

Whats going on with Paul and his mini obsession with Brats?
So I've heard him bring this up on a couple of episodes and then earlier I listened to a Blank Check episode and he bought it up there too,.
If you don't know it "Centers on 1980s films starring the 'Brat Pack' and their profound impact on the young stars' lives." and has interviews with Rob Lowe, E Estevez, D Moore, and so many more you'll recall if you grew up with them
He repeatedly states that the director Andrew McCarthy was the only one that had an issue with the article, and yet I watched it and they nearly all say it bothered them and it negatively affected their career.
Coming from Paul I honestly expected better tbh, he has written about his trauma and yet calls out Andrew McCarthy on multiple podcasts
Anyway, that's my explanation hope

New movie featuring June and Tall John is a ton of fun
Watched this last night after hearing it mentioned in either a Last Looks or the end of episode plugs, and it was a ton of fun! Absolutely goofy the whole way through. It's like someone handed the script of Airplane! to John Waters and said "Now make it a train movie, but don't make it gross."
I found myself wanting to give it one of those classic Five Star reviews that go like, "Some people just want to have fun. Not every movie has to be Citizen Kane."

Paul, Jason, and June debunked, ToiletGate is fake news.
Both the bidet and the toilet are clearly visible, the hosts were no doubt blinded by the beauty of Melissa Sue Anderson.

Happy birthday to me
I just want to say this is one of the funniest new episodes in a while - “my poop won’t go down the bidet” and “in the 80s, a lot of Canadian women were married to their dogs” really made me laugh. Thank you Jason, June, and Paul!

The Quiet (200%)
Edit: The title should say (2005)
I was 40 minutes into this movie and had to check if it's ever been covered. It's bizarre. It's like a prototype chatbot from 6 years ago wrote a Lifetime movie. I wish I knew how to give the show recommendations because oh my goodness this is a weird movie.
Besides, I bet all three of them have always wanted to see Edie Falco's tits.
DINKS taping report!
I was lucky and grabbed a ticket for the DINKS show taping Wednesday night. Not gonna spoil too much but it’s like they took a Dinosaur Improv show and turned the main story into a full-multi cam TV sitcom.
It started with Paul and June coming out and talking to all of us. They asked us questions, dug deep into the weird stories that came out of this and we could see the crew writing it all down on a big whiteboard.
The cast! This was amazing. Paul, June and Jon Gabrus were the main cast but the rest were HDTGM and CBB vets. Zouks, Jessica St Clair, Ron Funches Seth Morris (a few more too!) all with big fun parts!! They'd do a couple of versions of each scene and move on when they got enough to build upon. It was all improv, based on the stories the audience had volunteered.
Gabrus was the breakout actor, he had the best lines, and had everyone (cast, crew, audience) laughing the whole time.
The only negative…We were told it could take 5-6 hours. I left at midnight, after 7.5 hours. I wish I could’ve stayed but I was pretty fried, as were a few others. But we were fed, had plenty of breaks and prizes handed out so it was pretty fun and exciting the whole time.
It’s an Amazon show but the air dates are still up in the air.

lol I had no idea he voiced a Hutt in Young Jedi Adventures but it was an amazing surprise 😅
By any chance, has anyone gone to a taping of "Dinks"?
How was it? Long? Fun? Boring? Worth it? Did they feed you?
I have tickets, and was initially excited, but now I'm having second thoughts. It says to expect it to be 6 hours. Plus an hour of driving/parking etc. each way.
I imagine there will be fun/funny parts, but also a lot of waiting around and watching people work. Plus, I've lived in LA or NY my entire life and am kind of in the business. And I love Paul and June, but sometimes see them at the supermarket.
