That building is in my neighborhood. The smell of fire woke me and my wife up, even tho it was about 1km away from us. Couple minutes later we heard a few fire trucks, so we knew it's a big fire.
It's really, really sad. From what we understood from the neighbors they were all about 20 years old, just came in Deutschland few weeks ago to do the Pflegeausbildung.
Rumours are that this is caused from 41 year old man and that it was driven by racism, don't know if thats true or not. If that's the case, then I can only say that this is awful.

With afd on the rise. This will often occur.

Well racism against Indians has been normalized. Across continents they are being targeted.

A hate crime? so sad

They haven’t clearly understood the motive.
Either way, setting it in fire is not a solution to any kind of dispute especially when there are young people in the house.25

Not confirmed yet, but not unlikely. Police confirmed they already visited this adress to deescalate fights between different persons living in that adress.

I hope Indian anti-muslim hate mongers and rwt who support Afd are now satisfied
•
u/CrankyDoughnut710 59m ago
How do you even know the religion of the victims? And you are an Indian yourself?
•
u/sensei--wu 37m ago
nothing so explosive in what i wrote. It is no secret that BJP/RSS see ideological affinity with Trump and Afd. There are respected studies/surveys showing the same. The real challenge is to convince European and American right wing that they should attack only Muslims and leave out Hindus.

Hey dunce, three of the people killed were Crhistians and they hail from Kerala which pretty much has sizaeable muslim population and low conflicts between the communities. Hating POS.
•
u/sensei--wu 3m ago
What I wrote has any relevance only if it is a hate crime (not clear as per police investigation). I was just pointing to complexities and paradoxes that are involved when brown Indian immigrants (both Christians and Hindus) support European far right (for wrong reasons).

This is extremely sad. Young lives lost. They just wanted to live a life and do meaningul work. Arson is vile. Imagine hating someone so much that you burn them alive... I hope that Indians and immigrants supporting thw AfD will see now why they are no better in the eyes of AfD voters because "they came here on a work/study visa". A brown immigrant is a brown immigrant. They dont care if you are legal or not. Your life is not considered worthy enough and you will be dehumanised.
Can only hope their families get justice and the German police actually does their job this time.
•
u/CrankyDoughnut710 58m ago
The person they arrested is also allegedly an immigrant from Romania.
•
u/mystikal_spirit 38m ago
Immigrants can also be AfD supporters :)
•
u/bregus2 22m ago
Possible. Possible also that it was some sort of neighbourhood dispute escalating (especially as the arrested person also lived there, who does an arson attack on a place they live themselves for racistic reasons?) and going really bad without racist motives.
We don't even know if the three victims were involved in anything or if they were just living in that place.
That's my issue with plenty of comments under this post: The source is already biased because it's an Indian source; obviously, it aims at the three victims (understandable to a degree) but also skips over everyone else who got rescued from the building by the fire department. There are simply too few details known and won't be known for a while.
Jumping on "it was a racist motive" without having confirmation of that is just not right either.
•
u/mystikal_spirit 18m ago
You are right. It is possible that this was not politicak at all. However, a lot of extreme right supporters will only gloss over the headline and feel encouraged for such acts. We have seen this in several countries, including India. Everytime the far right wins, bigots and racists feel emboldened to act out their hate. I must also say, the headlines should have been phrased in a les baity manner.
Regarding the efficiency of the fire department- nowhere does it say that they didnt do their job. not sure where you are getting to this.

That wasn't what I tried to say. The point I tried to make was: Plenty of commenters here are screaming "racism" because the three victims were Indian citizens. But that jumps to a conclusion we simply cannot make with the information we have.
If, for example, the rescued people were the completely normal mix of nationalities you could expect from a multi-family home in a major city, then the option that they were just sadly at the wrong place at the wrong time is clearly to be considered.

We don’t need arson coming back… With AfD on the rise and most parties turning a blind eye instead of taking bolder action however it’s not going to be easy for people.
•
u/chatshas 1h ago
Isn’t there fire safety and protocols in buildings ? This reminds me of another one in hamburg as well.. just wondering if escape is impossible…
•
u/bregus2 14m ago
Several people were rescued by the fire department via ladders and via a jumping cushion.
From a German article I read, there might be a question of whether all the required smoke detectors were actually installed (one in every bedroom/corridor).
There is a chance the three victims were not targeted specifically but that the arson has some other background and they were sadly caught in the crossfire.
In general: If you're trapped by fire AND/OR smoke (three breaths of smoke and you are down and almost certain dead), go to the window and wait for the fire department. Rescuing you will be their first priority, but that's much easier if you are at a window already.

100% caused by AFD voters
•
u/TechnicalSurround 39m ago
your accusation is the equivalent to an afd voter saying ‘100% a migrant’ when somebody was raped, which ironically puts you at the same level as the afd voter
•
•
u/sensei--wu 1h ago
many Hindus 🕉️ stands with Afd, so...
•
u/mystikal_spirit 1h ago
OC is talking about voters. You are talking about a religious group... sorry, but your own prejudice shows. There are also several muslim turkish citizens who support the AfD. And several German christians who support the AfD. AfD supporters work on hate and intolerance. I dont think religion has much to do with this. If you are a shitty person, you will remain a shitty person regardless of your religion unless you yourself decide to un-shittify yourself :).
•
u/sensei--wu 1h ago edited 36m ago
Yes, there are many turks who support Afd for economic reasons. They don't want competition from Syrians for housing, jobs etc. Those who want to support a party for political reasons can do that, fine.
But many Hindus -- some of them cyber Hindus sitting in Mumbai, some of them sitting in Europe -- are professional hate mongers..and are driven to Trump or Afd due to their own bigotry against Muslims. Now I find it hypocritical that when they become victims, cry very loud. Same is happening in USA if you read the news where Trump Sir is screwing them big time.
Accept that and move on.

Where do I sound angry to you? I can only say I feel sorry for you. What you say has some truth to it. But to generalise the whole group is just as bad as saying every Muslim is a terrorist. Nobody is crying out loud, we dont even know the religion of the victims. You are the one turning this into a religion issue. Dont hijack one issue with another :). Sad ragebait.
•
u/sensei--wu 28m ago
We don't know if it is racism -- as I know, targets may be something else. If it is racism (which could well be given...), religion matters little. If brown Christians face prejudice in US and Israel, you can imagine. But when we link this to Afd, we must be aware of ideological paradoxes involved -- many Hindu immigrants supported or still supports far right parties.
In any case, very sad to see young peoples dream shattered like that, not to mention their families who may have taken loans to send them abroad. I hope the families heal and survive!

Pot calling Kettle black, bunch of cope and projection from you hate monger. When Muslim Turks do it, it's purely economical. Your filthy head won't budge anyway.

And the dehumanisation of most hindus by the islamic world is considered fine in your book? You compare a wooden stick with a bomb

How inappropriate do you want the comment? Yes.
Not only is it awful what happened but "most will cherish this news" ... really?

I have no idea how you even reach the idea that "most Germans will cherish this news". That as inappropriate as it can get. And tbh, also very disrespectful against the victims.

Then why you use this tragedy to spew hate against Germans? In my eyes that isn't what "sympathies stand with the victims and their families" means. That is just disrespectful against those who lost their lifes.
