It doesn't end with Trump. At this point we must acknowledge it's endemic to the current state of US politics

America has always supported Israel.

SS: The US has threatened to sanction Britain and other European countries for boycotting Israeli settlements.

Trump administration officials criticised the UK, France, Norway and others for bans on goods produced in illegal settlements in the West Bank, calling such actions “anti-Semitic”.

All criticism of Israel is antisemitism to its supporters.

the really funny thing is that UK as part of it sanctions suspended weapon exports to Israel.

According to Sipri UK is not even in top 3 suppliers to Israel (third is Italy with 1.2%), but Israel is second largest supplier to UK after USA, with 8.2%

The UK suspended only a fraction of their arms exports to Israel and explicitly excluded the main one which is components for the F-35.

so, out of 0,01% of Israeli imports, they don't sell only half ? but they still get from Israel 8.2% of all their weapon system imports ?

the components to f-35 go to common pool to USA and USA sends it to Israel.

UK can't suspend it even if it would like to.

Israel is free to stop selling to the UK but they know they’d tank their defence industry because suddenly everyone realises Israel isn’t a reliable supplier if they pull it every time someone raises atrocities they are committing.

so, just so i understand, uk is ok with sponsoring atrocities ?

No it’s not ok, which is why they just sanctioned settlements and this post exists

Why does everyone automatically believe Trump’s actions require blackmail. He’s an overly transactional nitwit.

The best type of blackmail, one's own stupidity.

It's worse than that. He just gives up stuff up and doesn't get anything in return.

It's all psychology with Trump. Not going along with Israel is implicit criticism of him and his war in Iran.

The US is a bit to powerful to just laugh at casually, although Trump does exploit how funny he is to say "They're laughing at you" to his base.

Unsurprising, the Israeli right basically owns the GOP at this point. Fortunately, Trump is hated even more than Netanyahu so the two have been left to deal with this failure of a war.
