For those of you that have engaged with all three mediums, are there any difference in characterization between the 8th Doctor novels, comics, and audios?

So Im on 2x6 of the 2005 show and while there are some episodes I like, I find it very difficult to get through. Its very inconsistent and idk if I want to watch 10 seasons of this. I was just wondering episodes like Vincent and The Doctor, Heaven Sent, Midnight, Twice upon a time, and Doctor falls, Will I understand them if I just skip to the really good episodes of the show? The show doesn’t totally follow a continuous story so I was wondering if any of these are fine to watch without seeing the previous few episodes.
