Advice on Galaxy Z Flip 7
Hello all, (This one is a long one)
Please could I have some insight/advice or what you would do with my phone situation:
I currently have the Z Flip 7 since November 2025. This year In mid September I was taking a picture of something at work, put my phone in my pocket and then 5 minutes later, I pulled out my phone again to take a picture of another thing and my phone screens were just completely messed up and broken.
I didn't fold it very much and or drop it at all. I took it to a Samsung store to get it fixed. The staff said my third party screen protector was the reason why my inner screens were broken. Something along the lines of my screen protector creating extra pressure when folded.
The staff did guarantee that the phone could be fixed for free and the fact that the phone was in good physical condition (i.e not been dropped/bashed in etc) since the phone was under the 2 year warranty.
Now I have my fixed phone, it's basically brand new- the screens are all replaced and the phone has had a factory reset.
Before this incident- I loved my Galaxy Z Flip 7, I was parading it around, I was amazed by it. However, now, after this incident and the fact I didn't fold the phone or damage it at the time it happened I feel... disappointed in the flips and I've lost trust in the foldables. Even though I know I was technically at fault for using a screen protector (but who wouldn't want to to protect their phone screen, foldable or not), I still feel a bit scammed by these foldable phones.
Seeing all these reddit posts about other people's issues with their flips and folds also haven't given me much confidence with these phones.
I have decided that my next phone will be regular smart phone.
My question is- should I just sell my phone since it is esentially new (factory resetted) and offset the cost of a new phone.
(I was thinking of apple/google pixel)
Or should I just suck it up and continue using my repaired phone.
- Other information;
I'm based in the UK.
I am flying to Hong Kong in May 2027, so I could potentially buy a new phone out there.
I bought my phone outright from the Samsung store and I have all my original boxes etc.
I'm not using it right now, just using my old phone (Samsung Galaxy S10+) due to just being too busy to set up my phone again right now.
Thank you in advance
