Go ahead, name them, provide evidence to back up your claim. Show me how they adhear to Mussolinis Doctrine of Facism. Or to Hitlers Esoteric Hiterlism.
And if you only answer is "they like nationalism" don't respond to me, go to the library and read a textbook that wasn't written or inspired by Crenshaw.
Fascism predates them both by quite a bit. They were end the fascism as a mainstream political idea, not the beginning. Modern European fascism begins to take shape in the 1880s.
That's like saying Herbie Hancock and John Zorn defined jazz. Just an absolutely indefensible take. The history of the idea isn't gone, nor are the many competing visions for its future. Like, you completely ignore the Spanish fascists, who can to power at the same time and survived much longer.
You just take the two most famous examples and declare they are the definition of the thing, but that's a position from ignorance and tunnel vision.
One wrote a literal book on the subject defining it in certain terms, and the other is the undisputed most famous example. Go ahead and call me ignorant. Then go to Blue Sky and look up the word Facism. Look how it's used so commonly for things so completely and utterly outside the scope of the concept. Then, come and tell me having a hard definition is the wrong choice.
Or, continue to insult me as you just have, and stay ignorant yourself, I don't really care one way or another.
Many people wrote many books on the subject and among those books are many common themes and just as many wildly divergent ideas. Many books came long before Hitler wrote his book.
Hitler, Mussolini, and Franco all advanced visions of Facism that were heavily steeped in local custom and cultural tradition, as well as pulling from some absolutely wild outside sources.
What Hitler and Mussolini did were absolutely fascism but to say that for something to be reasonably consider fascism it must closely align with Hitler or Mussolini is like saying things must be extremely similar to either apples or oranges to be reasonably considered fruit.
There's core elements, like militarism, intolerances of descent, the singular axis of power, cultural traditionalism, conformity to the ideal as virtue, that group all these ideas under fascism, but fascism is way less specific than just Hitler or Mussolini.
