I have been making this argument for years about cop shows like BAU normalizing the casual violation of rights as being necessary to catch suspects. It is a fascist ideology

Authoritarian ISNT automatically Fascism. Stop using them interchangeably. By doing so you water down what Facism is and why it was fought against.

The networks with a vested interest in pushing Copaganda to get the public to embrace a police state is very much Fascism, WTF are you talking about?

Go ahead, name them, provide evidence to back up your claim. Show me how they adhear to Mussolinis Doctrine of Facism. Or to Hitlers Esoteric Hiterlism.

And if you only answer is "they like nationalism" don't respond to me, go to the library and read a textbook that wasn't written or inspired by Crenshaw.

"It's only fascism if it's exactly what Hitler or Mussolini did"

They literally defined the ideology...

Fascism predates them both by quite a bit. They were end the fascism as a mainstream political idea, not the beginning. Modern European fascism begins to take shape in the 1880s.

As I said, the two of them defined it as the end stage.

That's like saying Herbie Hancock and John Zorn defined jazz. Just an absolutely indefensible take. The history of the idea isn't gone, nor are the many competing visions for its future. Like, you completely ignore the Spanish fascists, who can to power at the same time and survived much longer.

You just take the two most famous examples and declare they are the definition of the thing, but that's a position from ignorance and tunnel vision.

One wrote a literal book on the subject defining it in certain terms, and the other is the undisputed most famous example. Go ahead and call me ignorant. Then go to Blue Sky and look up the word Facism. Look how it's used so commonly for things so completely and utterly outside the scope of the concept. Then, come and tell me having a hard definition is the wrong choice.

Or, continue to insult me as you just have, and stay ignorant yourself, I don't really care one way or another.

Many people wrote many books on the subject and among those books are many common themes and just as many wildly divergent ideas. Many books came long before Hitler wrote his book.

Hitler, Mussolini, and Franco all advanced visions of Facism that were heavily steeped in local custom and cultural tradition, as well as pulling from some absolutely wild outside sources.

What Hitler and Mussolini did were absolutely fascism but to say that for something to be reasonably consider fascism it must closely align with Hitler or Mussolini is like saying things must be extremely similar to either apples or oranges to be reasonably considered fruit.

There's core elements, like militarism, intolerances of descent, the singular axis of power, cultural traditionalism, conformity to the ideal as virtue, that group all these ideas under fascism, but fascism is way less specific than just Hitler or Mussolini.

Have you heard of Robert O. Paxton's Anatomy of Fascism?

1

u/Captain_Zomaru 11h ago

Yes, and he's a dead wrong idilogue. He defines it as his enemies, outlining everything they stand for as the return of the new national socialist party. He likes to use loos language and people's ideas rather than actions or policy.

1

u/ObsessionObsessor 10h ago

That's a perplexing idea. Have you not heard that Robert O. Paxton denied the idea of Trump being a fascist? Who are his enemies in this context?

2

u/Captain_Zomaru 8h ago

You are implying I in any way support Trump and would be suppressed to learn about this. You also seem to have forgotten he has directly called Trump a fascist after he believe the lies that were spread about his involvement in the Jan 6 protest. So you're wrong on both accounts.

His 5 stage model is designed almost precisely to be applied retroactively, there is no way to apply it to events currently happening. It's vague conceptual ideas that can be framed about one individuals words or actions as if they represent an entire group. As I said before, Fascist must be clearly defined, or it will apply to everyone you don't like. And any definition which can't be clearly defined isn't fit for purpose.

As I said, Paxton is dead wrong in his thinking, because he's treating political ideology like philosophy.

Can you please answer the question directly? Who are the enemies in the context you stated?

At this point what reason do I have not to think that you're using AI to make paragraphs of arguments without actually reading them?

Seriously, you need to be clear about the basics of what you're saying here.

Robert O. Paxton is literally a 94 year old man. Anatomy of Fascism was written in 2004, when he was around 72 years old, which would have been under George W. Bush's administration. He earned a PhD from Harvard University when he was around 31 years old, back in 1963. The five stages of fascism, a work by him which Anatomy of Fascism builds off of, was written in 1998, when he was 66 years old, which would have been under the Bill Clinton's administration. Robert O. Paxton is an American.

I failed to find any mention of Robert O. Paxton talking about George W. Bush or Bill Clinton. Who are the enemies you mention?

If you read 'Vichy France and the Jews' you'll find out his opponents were the failed communists turned extremists of the Vichy. Because of the precise wording I could easily gather he was sympathetic of the communists, but the communists of Vichy were simply "Not real communists" as we so often hear. This has never been his defined belief but he also stays neutral, as we all should strive more to be, at least until modern times where commenting on ongoing political events has suddenly become something he thought to weight in on.

u/ObsessionObsessor 8h ago

You're describing Vichy France as Communist...okay, now you're just outright using AI if not outright lying.

1

u/Captain_Zomaru 7h ago

There is no way to prove to you I'm not an AI. You've just started insulted me now that you don't have a rubbital. Goodbye.

u/ObsessionObsessor 7h ago

Bruh, you're the one who claimed that anti-communist nationalists were communists right after I started suspecting you weren't reading what you were posting.
