Now how do i get my 12 year old to finally start eating vegetables? Anything green tastes bitter to her. Ive tried the fast, she still cant stand the taste even after fasting edit- am excellent cook and have done veggies in all sorts of ways. She will eat a salad as lonng as its not purple or green

the only reason kids hate veggies is because people have this stupid idea that because its a plant you dont have to cook it. no, just like any other food if you make it properly and it tastes good people will eat it kid or not

i have two boys, they both ate veggies until they were 2/3-ish and magically started refusing all vegetables. only thing i can explain is maybe at daycare they learned from friends that veggies are gross. i have no idea

However - my mom used to steam brussel sprouts and i hated them. i learned to like them by roasting in the oven. same issue w/mushrooms - i only like them grilled

I wish I could find the article, but I once read kids begin being picky eaters once they're mobile and more independent as a survival mechanism.

Imagine early humans without play pens and I would be fairly grateful my toddler wasnt eating random shit constantly

i'd buy that. it seems too early for their taste buds to change so much

I think its typical for dramatic rewiring of taste buds around 12 mo,  which about when walking starts.  My daughter could eat the most face melting indian food from like 9mo to 12mo.   By 2, black pepper was spicy

Make no sense. People always ate what was available. Sometimes you might like it, sometimes not, but an empty stomach does not care.
