Seriously, one time I was up in Oregon during the summer and I got to eat the reddest, juiciest, most delicious, local home grown strawberries I’ve ever had in my life.
They were almost blood red, not pink/white like most out of season, mass grown, store bought strawberries at the local Kroger chain. I need to go back there again next summer and try to get some more.
i dislike those huge white-on-the-inside strawberries! they’re so bitter and not at all sweet. ONCE i’ve had them where it was $12 for a pint but they were grown locally in Maine and they were good! now I live in texas in literally ‘the’ strawberry town and i don’t like them. but we have delicious cantaloupe
Then, I would like to register a complaint with you about my last batch of Poteet strawberries. Completely tasteless. I was devastated because they looked beautiful and were expensive.
I don’t think I’ve ever had in season fresh cantaloupe. That sounds amazing. Although, cantaloupe sometimes gives me an allergic reaction in the form of an itchy, tingly mouth but it’s not every time. When I was younger bananas used to do the same thing but they don’t anymore. I should look up what that means.
Found a chart that lists bananas and cantaloupe under the “Ragweed Pollen” category. Must have a Ragweed allergy. It’s funny that it’s not all the time though. I was eating bananas everyday for a few months earlier this year with no issue.

Just imagine how much more celebrated things like strawberries would be if you could only get them in shops during season instead of all year round
