It is pretty funny how much money you can make with the HRE while just fooling around with stuff. Maximising your vassals tax base via the right government reforms. Taking Influence ideas and as Austria you also get extra vassal contributions via one mission that grants the strong duchies privilege some extra income from vassals. To the point where early on it massively outscales trade. Of course in like 50-100 years of ingame time trade will still be more powerful. Even without focusing on it.

But by the time trade will outscale vassal tax, you should be able to easily divert everyone's trade without worrying about LD.

Did you divert trade from everyone ? Then you can collect from the 3 end nodes and you're Cresus.

Whelp. I just checked. Should've done it earlier. My vassal based economy is now supplemented by 250 ducats from trade total.

Honestly. I did not. I was very lazy when it came to that, it's a lot of clicks after all. But should actually be worth it. Would probably net me another easy 100 ducats.

Don't need one. Religious Ideas with Orthodox Austria, means I get holy war. Plus Malta fort on max and Reformation War Score reduction just annexing them in a handful of wars is faster. No one's gonna attempt to build a Coalition against me anyway.

But your economy could be even more vassal based! more fun ^_^. And adding them to HRE means they dont cost diplo slots either + you get them for free when forming HRE.
