Hey Denver music people! I'm hosting our first Digital Music Meetup at the Denver Public Library's Central location (13th and Broadway) this Friday, 10/16 at 3:30pm, in the 4th floor IdeaLAB. This is the first event of its kind since our grand reopening almost two years ago, and I'm excited to get these meetups going again. Whoever attends gets to set the tone, and we have lots of options for how we use the time. We can listen to each others' work, make music on the spot, share tips and tricks, whatever you like! I'll have a short presentation about my own musical journey and experience too.

FUNK'D UP TUESDAYS is a weekly, open funk jam at Monolith Brewing on S Broadway in Denver.  It’s a great space to showcase your music, have fun, and connect with musicians. @monolithbrewingco staff is amazing and their beer, cocktail, and food selection is top notch.

Format: Sign-up sheet. Host band Dynamic Distraction opens at 7pm with 3-4 songs and the stage is always open by 730pm. Jams continue until 10p

You’re the bandleader for 2 songs or up to 10 minutes and you can also sit in on any other jams whenever there are openings. All musicians and music fans are welcome! In the spirit of the funk theme, please try to keep things funky, energetic & jam-friendly. Original music preferred.

Bring your instrument (minus drums), and the house will provide:

For the most current and up to date events here is the full concert Calendar. I’ve started primarily updating it on Thursdays, since a lot of shows have tickets that go on sale on Fridays. I’ve found that if I do it Thursday I’ll catch those shows that are likely to sell out before they go on sale, and have managed to snag a bunch of hot shows that way.

It’s really sleek and if you have any suggestions on design let us know. I’m also considering creating a discord channel so that people can discuss the music and shows they are excited about. There are a ton of shows this week that I would like to see and a couple that I’m already going to. Whenever Kishi Bashi is in town you will always find me at that show, so I’ll be at the Gothic on Wednesday. Also my friend has the same feelings about Raynes whenever they are in town so I’ll be at the Federal Theatre for the first time since they opened this upcoming Thursday (and maybe seeing Raynes again on Friday if I have the energy). 

For the shows that I’m not already going to that I’d be interested in seeing, I really enjoyed the KPOP artist ARTMS and they will be at Summit on Thursday. I also really enjoyed Kid Sistr, they will also be at Summit with The Wrecks and Worry Club on Saturday. If I am lucky I may end up with some free tickets to the Gorillaz show on Sunday so I would be really excited to see them at Ball Arena.

Here is the playlist for the week. I’ve changed back to my old vetting system as it was just easier/quicker and I need to catch up and get ahead a bit if I want to put together any end of the year list. I have started color coding the concert calendar with my concert ranking system, I basically kept each artist together during vetting as opposed to sorting by individual genre. Then I average the scores to get the shows I really want to see. Next week has already been sorted and I’ll be updating the end of the month here soon.

I’ve created a few different playlists this year, there've been so many artists that I’ve really enjoyed but they don’t fall into the (Liked Songs) genre and more so some of my other moods. Here is the Liked Songs playlist, another playlist I’ve put together is my Focus EDM of artists this year that make good focus music for me but don’t necessarily fit the vibe of Liked Songs. The last playlist may be one of my favorite ideas, it’s my Good Cooking Ambience kind of a lo-fi soulful playlist that I vibe to while cooking or can have on at a dinner party.

I also spent 9 hours (mostly computer behavior issues) putting together another MAJOR PLAYLIST for all the artists announced going forward from November 2nd and plan to slowly make my way through that. It will certainly help me get some of those end of year playlists sorted if I'm a bit ahead on my listening.
