Discussion 💭🗯️ Musicians whose careers stalled after Covid

Post image

Camila Cabello was huge 2017-2019, but her popularity really dwindled post Covid. What other musicians were popular in the 2010s but fizzled after 2020s?

Camila is unlikable.

I had to Google her controversies because I looked up to Camila as someone who had a thriving career despite having setbacks from OCD. Very disappointing to hear about her racist remarks :(

For those who want the details,

“In December 2019, Camila Cabello issued an apology after old offensive and racist posts from her early teenage years resurfaced on a Tumblr account. The posts featured derogatory memes, stereotypes about the Black community, and the repeated use of the N-word."

follow any Hispanic onlyfans girl on ig and they all use the n word or ninja emoji when complaining about men lol

Even if he was, look, people do and say all sorts of stupid shit as teenagers all the time. You dont even mean it, and it was just a process of finding yourself that some people did better than others on in. Im a person of colour (or whatever Americans call it) myself and even I get it.

Worrying the censor will remove his post most likely. Lots of right wing dark money all over social media, so it wouldn't surprise me if they have censors in place to remove words that paint them in a bad light.

Well, this was before Trump got reelected. If this happened nowadays she could parlay it into a lucrative podcast and possibly even a job at Newsmax.

u/etienu89 Jun 15 '26

It wouldn’t last because she’s a woman. They would put a battery in her back when it comes to her being canceled, but they would eventually move on.

u/Ambitious-Health-132 Jun 15 '26

‘Teenage years’ literally loads of people were casually racist back then on the internet, even just thought it was harmless fun (we were all very uneducated)

4

u/dangerislander Jun 15 '26

Yeah at what point do we keep villanizing early teenage behaviour. I feel like we gotta let people grow and learn as they get older. After all their frontal lobe isn't developed.

But yes being a racist pos is also not good and she also deserves the scrutiny.

Yeah for some reason a lot of people think it’s really important to look through celebrities posts from their early teenage years and try to completely end their careers over it. Personally I’m too busy with work and living my life to do that but I guess if I was gainfully unemployed and had to prospects I may be tempted do the same? I dunno.

13? Come on. I was a racist shithead 4chan edgelord at 13 because it was all I'd been exposed to. Couldn't be further left by late teens, and I'm in my mid 30s now. This is ridiculous.

13

u/olivegardengambler Jun 15 '26

I was going to say, I posted the f-slur a lot on my Tumblr when I was in middle school and still figuring out my sexuality.

the fact that you’re willingly defending a 13 year old saying the n word instead of scrolling is crazy. people have the right to react negatively over that word. I have extremely unpopular opinions that most people would disagree with, so I rightfully just ignore whenever I read opinions that state otherwise. you were like her as a teen, so of course you don’t see the seriousness in racism.

more sympathy for the 13 year old saying slurs, but what about the 13 year old kids right now that are going through racism in school via bullying?

a person who WAS racist and actually GREW UP, wouldn’t say “c’mon who cares” to someone finding out someone was racist lol. they would understand. “couldn’t be further from the left” sure

10

u/4r4r4real Jun 15 '26

How old are you today? Have you gone through any personal growth since you were 13? Do you think you were a fully formed person, or intellectually and morally independent from your parents and surroundings, at 13?

I don't believe in holding the sins of the father against their son, no. If you think that's backwards I don't think you've grown up yet.

-1

u/xhiazio Jun 15 '26

I don’t think 13 year olds should say the N word. there are plenty of children that are bullied due to their race and culture, and no one EVER talks about them. People always have sympathy for the perpetrator, which is weird because racism affects one’s psychologically, yet I’m supposed to excuse every person over the age of 12 being racist? that mindset is the reason why you have KIDS TODAY ON TIKTOK commenting racist shit because they know their age is going to protect them. society is so hateful that we give grace to the people that are doing the harm. weird defending someone who was SIXTEEN doing this shit, but god forbid if I said something about the group you’re part of! be treated as you would want to be treated

6

u/Thestral84 Jun 15 '26

there are plenty of children that are bullied due to their race and culture, and no one EVER talks about them.

Uh, what? Yes they are, all the time. That's why racist speech is fucking taboo.

-2

u/xhiazio Jun 15 '26

then how come “it’s just a word” is the response every time or thousands are donated whenever a racist is caught. we have a millionaire because a woman called a 5 year old at the park the n word. being a genuine anti racist is unpopular.

I don't think its about sympathy for a dumbass kid doing dumbass things. Its about the fact that we were all stupid af at that age. Maybe not racism but we all have something we could be "canceled" for from those days.

Nobody is saying racism is right or "who cares," and nobody is condoning bullying, but Jesus Christ would you want to be held accountable now for some dumb shit you did as an early adolescent?

2

u/xhiazio Jun 15 '26

I’m pretty different so if my “dumb shit” psychologically affected people, yes. I’m not the one who should be crying and playing victim when I affected people. I cannot wait til society sees that racism against ALL races and cultures as serious again because this is why this country is so fucking strange. these kids turn into ADULTS. you need to call out teenagers doing this shit because a lot of people don’t grow out of it. even the people who claim to not be racist anymore gets PERSONALLY ATTACKED when you address a post they posted in 2011 wishing deaths upon all whites, instead of just apologizing

4

u/dudenamedric Jun 15 '26

When did this country ever see racism the way you describe? Racism has always been around and it always will be, as shitty as that is. And all this extremism we're seeing now is a direct reaction to bullshit like this. Cancel culture made it where nobody can say anything that deviates from what's considered acceptable. It doesn't make things better, it doesn't fix whats broken, and it doesn't stop anything. It merely suppresses it, which causes it to fester and, by the time it makes its way back to the surface, it spreads aggressively and things end up worse than ever

I agree with you, tho, teens need to be called out and bullshit like her posts need to be corrected - when they're teenagers, not 20+ years later when, more than likely, they're nowhere near being that same person anymore.

13 is a literal child. I'm not going to hold someone's age-13 speech against them. Actions? That's a different story. But what they said? On the internet? Come on. Be an adult.

16 would be a bit different, that's not what I responded to or was aware of. This is the first I'm hearing of any of this.

2

u/Frank_Lawless Jun 15 '26

You’re responding to the person saying they knew racism was bad at 13. It’s a weird thing to argue with tbh

Yeah dude that's why teenage edgelords say that kind of stuff. If it was fine or pc to say those words then it wouldn't be offensive and in consequence it'd be pointless to say it. When I was a teen I was shitty prick that clashed with teachers on an almost weekly basis and I used to do and say some very cringy stuff just to be "cool" and get attention. There's a reason why many people look back amd cringe at who they were as teenagers.

-1

u/Dry-Cry-3158 Jun 15 '26

Well, if there's one thing that never backfires, it's boycotting people for something they did when they were young but subsequently matured out of. Yep, there's nothing bad that comes from refusing to accept people making an attempt to move away from unacceptable behavior.

Not our job to rewrite her beliefs, our job is just to support the artists we want to

-3

u/Dapper-Annual-3358 Jun 15 '26

I'll hit you with some mind blowing realization. The n word only exists as a slur in North America, UK(from America) and Eastern Europe (through modern American culture. Most other places they don't even know what it is. It was born as a slur there(America) so alot of these things American people think are the hot issues of the world, don't affect anyone else but Americans. There are so many words in other languages that sound like the nword and it offends American people.

0

u/Post_office_clerk01 Jun 15 '26

People like you made my life hell. I couldn’t go anywhere online with racist slurs and bullshit. No bro it wasn’t ok to do that then and I have no sympathy for people like you period.

1

u/4r4r4real Jun 15 '26

I'm not claiming it was ever ok. I think you missed the point I'm making.

5

u/Currency080Trick Jun 15 '26

But it's ok that Travis Scott got multiple people killed and still doesn't care?

Unless you are boycotting anyone produced by Dr Luke, the MJ biopic, Dr Dre - then at least you're consistent

1

u/Pepita09 Jun 15 '26

Yeah I dipped because of the racism. Not because of COVID. Can't believe I had to scroll so far to find this...
