I've noticed I enjoy different vocal styles depending on the band. Sometimes I want to be able to make out more of the vocals, and sometimes they work better as part of the overall sound.

What do you prefer?

I'm curious what the starting point was for people here. For some it seems to be one specific band , while others get into it through another metal subgenre first .

What was it for you ?

I've gone through quite a few albums over the years, but there are some I can put on anytime and they still hit the same.

What's one album you never seem to get tired of?

There are plenty of technically impressive riffs that I forgot 5 minutes later, while some really simple ones stay in my head for days.

What usually makes a riff stand out to you?

I've been listening to a mix of older and newer stuff lately and it's interesting how different the production and songwriting can be.

Which side do you usually lean toward?

Wrath of an unrighteous god

This shit RULES

Hey guys i wanna make a list about my favourite old school death metal albums and i wanted to put the bleeding by cannibal corpse as my number 1, does it count as old school death metal? I know its pre 1995 so it probably does but its more polished so idk if it counts, let me know thanks:)

Brazilian death/thrash – Stormsorrow: The Blood Red Horizon

Hey guys! I’d like to share my band Stormsorrow, from Brazil.

We released our debut album The Blood Red Horizon in late 2025. Our sound sits somewhere between melodic death, thrash and heavy metal, heavily influenced by the late ’90s/2000s European scene — In Flames, Dark Tranquillity, Soilwork, Hypocrisy — mixed with bands like Nevermore, Iced Earth, Kreator and, of course, some Brazilian metal DNA.

We recently signed with Combat Records, and we’re currently working on our second album, featuring some internationally known metal musicians.

I’d really like to hear what actual death metal fans think about it.

Cheers from Brazil! 🇧🇷🤘

And yes, criticism is absolutely welcome. Tear it apart if you want. 😂

Now in my personal opinion, I think embalmer is one of the best death metal bands in history down to where it first started with possessed until now. And I am crazy surprised that not many people have heard about this amazing band.

They first started in 89 and on 95 they had their third release “rotting remains” then two years later they made “there was blood everywhere” which is technically a compilation because it features all the songs from rotting remains and new songs for the album. Both releases go together like peanut butter and jelly for me. in my opinion it can’t get any better
