In Dawn of War 2 Retribution, what are the best builds for one character solo entire of Space Marine campaign?

I really like the art style as well as the sound designs of DOW 2, but I really dont like to micromanaging the entire squad. What builds are good enough to solo the entire campaign with only one character?

Dawn war Unification mod recruitment

Brothers!!

I'm looking for Unification mod players to join a roleplay narrative play server

What you'll need: Dawn of war soulstorm, Unification mod fully installed, Discord

The Emperor's Crusade Beckons

Greetings, Battle-Brothers,

Are you tired of endless, lifeless meta-chasing and looking for a true storytelling experience?

I’ve been searching for my people for a while now, and if you’re into deep narrative play, custom lore, and campaigns that actually matter, that's what we are trying to build.

We are actively recruiting players who want to go beyond standard matched play—those who love crafting custom armies, forging rich homebrew lore, and partaking in immersive narrative campaigns and crusades together.

What We’re Building:

The Goal: Form a united Imperial alliance to launch a grand crusade into an uncharted sector of the galaxy.

The Experience: Every battle, victory, and defeat shapes the ongoing narrative and builds your army's legacy in real-time.

The Focus: 100% focused on roleplay, creative writing, custom homebrew chapters/regiments, and having fun with a passionate community.

If you are looking for a dedicated roleplay space where your army’s story truly matters, don't hesitate to slide into my DMs.

I'm eagerly looking forward to meeting my future battle-brothers on the front lines!

Soo basically

.....It’s not just custom factions or a single rigid campaign—it’s an in-depth, lore-driven PvE cooperative experience built entirely around roleplay.

Think of it as a living, breathing sector where your custom armies have a real impact on the map and the overarching story.

The Three Main Theatres

Our campaigns and events span three primary settings:

The 30k Theatre: Take part in historical events from the Great Crusade and the Horus Heresy.

The 40k Theatre: Fight through major historical milestones from the Scouring all the way to current-age conflicts like the Tyrannic Wars or the Indomitus Crusade.

The Helios Five Sector Theatre: This is our custom campaign map and the main focus of our narrative experience, where your custom armies take center stage to bring planets under compliance.

Scope, Structure, & Mechanics

Campaign Style (Total War-esque):

The Helios sector is divided into structured tiers: Planets > Continents > Regions > Imperial Settlements.

Your custom factions take active roles in fighting to retake and secure these locations.

Armies & Factions: You can bring up to three main Imperial armies (your personal homebrew chapters, regiments, or factions) to deploy across the warzones.

Mission Types & Size:

Open narrative PvE operations where players combine forces to tackle severe threats.

More strict, specialized campaigns featuring limited deployment options—where you must complete missions using a restricted, specific pool of units.

Complexity & Progression: Every single battle is logged in an After Action Report, categorized, and tracked. You earn battle honors and permanently etch your custom lore and commanders into imperial records, cementing your homebrew as canon in our corner of the galaxy.

The Core Philosophy

This is strictly roleplay-focused, cooperative PvE. There are no sweaty meta-matches or standard pickup games here; every match is custom-tailored with specific parameters to foster deep storytelling and collaborative community play.

New to Warhammer & DoW, can I get some advice/tips about unit & camera control

I've seen the debate about wasd vs current scheme, and a little about keybinds for actions. I've played a few of the total war entries, and a few isometric party rpgs so I'm not completely fresh to perspective or macro/micro management, but unless I've been an absolute moron I don't recall the tutorial actually going through unit management.

I'm on the 4th mission in the first campaign & I haven't found a way to group units, to select a single unit type or multiple of one type or even the entire army, I keep losing my servetors behind buildings so I'm having to highlight the entire area to find them rather than click a keyboard number.

I'm trying to learn / muscle memorise the unit keybinds for stances etc, but the actual logistical management is a nightmare. If I've been an idiot and missed something please tell me, otherwise any advice, links or anything else I can use to help I'd be grateful.

What did DOW DE fix and what did it break

Hi, I'm wondering if I should buy it given how 99% of remastered games today are worse versions of originals(Rome remastered, Warcraft 3 Reforged, Shogun 2, Age of Empires 1). I need to know what got fixed and what got enshitified or is this another AOE 2 DE moment and please don't spam 64 bit support because I'm tired of that excuse

A funny story in DOW Soulstorm

I tried to complete the campaign as Chaos, and as we know, the first enemies you face as Chaos in the campaign are the Dark Eldar. And during one of the missions, the whole round turned into a game of cat and mouse, where I was destroying the base, but they had already built three new ones at other ends of the map. Literally, the whole game turned into searching for and catching the DE builders so they would stop building the main structures. So after that mission, I had to get rid of the DEs more quickly, and, surprisingly, the battle for their capital was much easier.

17 Years difference!?

Look, I'm going to play DoW4 regardless, but I can't shake the feeling that the visuals and game feel aren't where they should be.

Comparing it to DoW2, it looks slightly better, but certainly not 17 years of technical progress better. From all the recent gameplay footage, it’s just a bit disappointing. Tell me im wrong!

Heavy units like Dreadnoughts and massive bombardments just lack that heavy, satisfying impact DoW2 and CoH2 had. Units don't seem to have real mass behind them. Plus, without cover mechanics, a lot of the engagements look like typical blob vs. blob fights.

I know it's still in development, but anyone else worried about this?

I always wanted to see tartaros and cataphract in the game, but no one made them, so I made them myself, although I didnt plan it but the textures turned out to be closely similar to the textures of the dow I was worried that the models would stand out

I didn't use ai to edit textures. all textures by joazzz. I was only involved in rearranging the position to optimize for the game.

How can I find quality replays or streams for 1v1 Definitive Edition (IG)?

I want to get better at the game - I lose to pretty much everyone and I’d like to learn basic builds and tactics versus various factions as IG.

What resources are there?

I can not describe my hatred for Eldars in this game. Whenever I start a campaign, I either go to Pavonis or the closest area to the Eldar to put them in prison. That way, whenever they try to expand, I can torture them.

Why is DOW the series that reinvents the wheel every iteration?

Hey everyone. This is not a "game x good, DOW3 bad" type of post. Also, since DOW4 isnt released yet, i wont talk about it too much.

Short about me - bought DOW1 on release day, back in the days, played a shitton of it, inclusive all addons, including all of the major mods, PVP/PVE pretty sure i sunk over three thousand hours into this game in the last two decades. DOW2 was fun, but didnt scratch the same itch, DOW3 - wasnt fun for me at all. Now seeing DOW4, I just have a few thoughts regarding this series.

There are not many other series - who decide the change the core mechanics of their game FUNDAMENTALY after a successful first entry. DOW - literally did it every iteration.

And yet, most of the people in the fanbase - are here because of DOW1, and especially DOW DE.

A major selling point for me in DOW1 and DOW DE as an extension is the easy to play, hard to master approach. Basically all factions follow the same rules, while still having an unique flavor to them. You build a base, you build units, you capture points.

Now, seeing all the faction mechanics in DOW4, i just wonder, why do developers refuse just to take this step back ALL the way. Same for DOW2, same for DOW3. Both were different to DOW1 and different to each other again. Its like making the next COD a hardcore tactical shooter for some reason.

Im developing a game myself, and i know how tempting it can be to "add this feature, add that feature", but if someone would come up to me and ask me - "do you want to develop the next Dawn of War game?" - i would basically copy DOW1, update the units, work on MP balance and call it a day. COD as a series with a similar issue - did that with the 2019 reboot - which was a MASSIVE success, and then went back to reinventing the wheel again.

This isnt to shit on DOW 4 - it might be THE game we are are wating for. But in my humble opinion, making each faction work in an entirely different way regarding base building, map expansion, regarding unit production etc - is something noone really asked for, and will be a massive pain in the ass to balance for, again in my opinion, questionable return.

The recipe is there, people loved it, use it.

Dawn of War: Gold Edition Question

A few years ago, I used to play DoW: Gold Edition, I was maybe 10 or so, had no Internet connection whatsoever so it was all matches against the AI Opponent of which ever difficulty i felt like that day, truly, they were some amazing times

I wanted to know if there was ever a bug to do with the Ork population and vehicle cap as there never seemed to be, I could just create infinite amounts of Slugga Boys and the like because I distinctly remember it.
