I mean, a crows gotta eat, right?

This is one of the couple who wait for me each day.

I have a couple of crows that I feed a few days a week in my work lunch break and they recognise me from a mile away..

This morning , I was cycling through the park going to work, and started up the road nearby and then I realised that there was a crow keeping pace with me as I cycled, it was this little guy who comes every time I go to the park, I've never noticed him flying parallel to me while I've been on the bike before though! And yes of course I chucked the peanut which I happen to have about my person and i didn't even have to stop the bike!

I was encouraging it to be fair but he did start it initially. He loooves to bite and grab things so I figured he’d try and take it if there was an opportunity

In Alaska, we call ‘em Dumpster Ravens

I had been feeding the distant crows in the parking lot at my new job for the last couple months (at least 1 scrub Jay too). They got pretty comfy buzzing past my sunroof to look in so I wasn't surprised when I left to a gas station and they followed

I went to a second gas station because the first didn't have the thing i wanted and 3 of them just kind of met me on the ground when I opened my car door.

I was so shocked I reached for my emergency p-nuts and startled them a bit, so I tossed a few out to keep them here and made a big pile for them to dig into when I left!

It suddenly dawned on me just how large they were, like big toned ducks or chicken sizes and the beaks were more alike.

It hit me when I saw them pick up 4 peanuts at a time for a total of 8-10, HOLY PELICAN!

So far the most I've seen is a big daddy crow carrying 4-5 peanuts lined up in their craw carefully, but these big dudes were just shoveling them up like construction equipment!

Just wanted to share what I saw on my cameras today because i think it‘s cute.

This Magpie took a small peanut with shell and decided to cache it on my balcony. She really takes her time to find the right cache and makes sure no one sees it.
I love how she abandoned the first cache because of the 2nd Magpie and how she checks through the window if I am at home (they are still afraid of me!).

How do I explain her that I will have to replace the flowers with winterproof ones and her cache will be lost ??

The crows decided to photobomb me tonight. The 2nd photo looks like a bat… fitting for the season.

My local magpie was absolutely upset about jackdaws eating all peanuts, so he started his whisper song

As the garden season winds down my guard Crow returns for the winter once the fledglings know how to forage alone. This is the first year our old male we call Carl is allowing his young to stay and share food once in a while. I'm thinking he's passing on my yard as he is getting old. He adds a lot of joy to my life as I sit here just a few feet away in my greenhouse.

And just like that, my first crow season has come to an end. My work crow friends and my backyard crow friends have all headed south, Maybel left Monday, a week after her parents Frank and Beauty.

I’m going to miss them so much, but I’m so grateful for the time I had with them. The joy these birds have brought me is hard to put into words. They’ve become such a big part of my days, and honestly, they’ve helped me more with my sobriety than they’ll ever know.

Who knew a bunch of crows could mean so much? ❤️

There is like a big plop of shit right on my car where I usually see the crows. Not only is this insulting, but it’s straight up disrespectful and they’ve seen me come out of the car so they know

I’ve been feeding the crows in the park by my house every day for a few months now. This morning my cat followed me into the park as I was heading to the gym. I had already fed the crows earlier. Then they saw my cat following me and seemed to go for him - as you can see in the video, they were really loud and swooped down above him in an intimidating way, it was scary!

Or whatever is going on here. I’ve heard him make that noise before but this is the only context it’s ever been in

im neurodivergent and finally learning my special interests arent "bad". i got this to represent my years long infatuation with poisons [both the danger and the medicine] and crows, which for me go hand in hand. its an incredibly important piece of art to me <3)
