I am not being facetious: Can someone tell me if you can make good money doing this? Good money means about ~ $300k per year.

Actually? Yeah.

Comes down to how you portray yourself just enough so that these weirdos take you seriously.

My cousin did an “art piece” where it was a basketball that was dipped in paint and thrown at the canvas randomly. It was a joke but when he submitted it people started surrounding it completely enthralled for some reason.

I think that's the key isn't it...being able to find people who are enthralled by this type of "performance".

Can they legit launder money off of it, is the question?

It’s been done very recently by someone pretty well known selling finger paintings for 1/2 mil each out of a rehab center.

Average people love an arrogant overconfident artist.. maybe cus there’s something in them they wish to be like.. to be free and appear happy or successful.. enough to even fake it I guess..

cus the majority of artists (of almost any type of art) are too self aware and close to perfectionist that they sabotage themselves, be it with drugs, money, or some other vice.
The only ones who like them are either a parents, love from their youth, or someone who sees a financial opportunity to exploit them.

Art is a wonderful thing to make a living off of, but the majority of artists won’t, unless they sort of sell out. You either make something generic the average person will love, or you do your own thing and let whatever happen. If you’re wealthy or have some sort of financial backing (like a partner) you won’t ever work a day and you’ll be a happy artist just creating whatever you like. If you want to make a living, you might find a medium you’re content with, but the works will be toned down and quicker to mass produce and sell.

If you’re really lucky you’ll get hired by some organization and get to do what you love, but I’ve found few creative individuals really love working for someone and being told what or how to do what they do organically

I dunno, the average people I know don't understand crap like this at all. They're just as confused as most of us about why anyone would watch someone do this, especially if they have to pay to watch.
