guys that do the oil drilling work shown make between 80k-120k a year and usually only have to work for half a year
23
u/Dropbeatdad Sep 08 '26
It's almost like instead of pitting blue collar workers against influencers we should be going after the actual rich pieces of shit (billionaires)
8
u/jimsmisc Sep 08 '26
The establishment has been so smart about how to orient the class war. We have people making 50k/year acting like the doctor in your neighborhood making 500k/year is the elite and the enemy.
But to a billionaire, 50k and 500k are both poor. And if that doctor starts making more money, it's taxed at around 50%.
The whole system is designed so that almost everyone who's truly wealthy is in a club that goes back generations. High earning jobs alone will not get you there.
I remember reading a recent article where they studied the wealthiest families in France. Turns out like 90% of the wealthiest families in France are descendents of the wealthiest families in France from 300 years ago...
→ More replies (4)3
u/NooneUverdoff Sep 09 '26
The wealthiest families in England are still from when WIlliam I invaded and replaced all the land owners with his knights, who were the rapiest and murderiest hoard he could find.
Their descendants are largely still the land owners today. This happened almost 1000 years ago.

You can look up other videos of roughnecks and oil field workers and they'll have hardhats, gloves, and they'll be moving quickly, but efficiently, not dragging ass like the shirtless dumbass in the video.

More than half of the deaths are them driving home... Roofers have a more dangerous job if you are looking per capita death. Even when oil rig deaths are marked as a death since they crashed into a truck in unlit roads while leaving the jobsite. The only thing is that they work long shifts and they stop paying attention and crash on their way out.
So it's not as dangerous as a common job like roofing. On the video they did is for show they aren't doing this every second. I guess more people bitch about oil rigging so you hear more about it, the complain could stem from the average 12 hour shift.

men love to complain about some "other" cause of all of this, it's "society", "someone" needs to fix this, "they" are doing this
50% of all society is men, men don't help men. and it's men who are 97% paying cam girls all the money they make, but the blame the woman every time, they blame women. middle east mentality, women have to subjugate themselves and cover their bodies and hair because men can't help themselves, even western men argue that without realizing it
→ More replies (2)4
u/Naps_in_car Sep 08 '26
Because the point isn't income inequality, the point is to hate women.
The man is shown toiling, surely doing lasting damage for his job and you sympathize with the guy who sacrifices for a better life for his family. Then you see that hussie on the right dancing and gyrating and earning lots of money, what a jezebel! And that anger gets directed as Man Good, Woman Bad. Keep doing it enough, keep normalizing it enough across the subreddits and baby you are fostering some woman hate.
Everyone is focusing on how much they are actually earning, or who they really are, and the misogyny just slips right in there.

15
u/Mushroomer Sep 08 '26 edited Sep 08 '26
Yep. TikTok is basically a social lottery system - you can be attractive and do the exact same things as the other attractive people on the app, but still get shafted by the algorithm or sponsors for random or arbitrary reasons. Actually making meaningful money from it is rare, and only lasts a few years at most before you fade into obscurity.
People complaining about this are (unsurprisingly) not well informed about how it actually works.

My ex was a well known influencer in her home country and you're pretty much bang on. So much of it comes down to luck but there's also a lot more work behind the scenes going on, so what it turns into is just having to maintain being at your best all the time in the hopes you'll hit the jackpot.
