Like this isn't propaganda? I'll preface it by saying fuck Israel (and bibi in particular), but this is biased as hell. Seems to leave a lot of details out, which is pretty typical for either side of this propaganda war.
Nobody wants to admit that the fault is distributed over time and many, many parties and anyone pointing blame in one direction without looking at their part in it, is frankly full of shit and will never find reconciliation.
Act.IL (also Act-IL) is a social networking service used by supporters of Israel to oppose online "anti-Israel content" such as the boycott, divestment and sanctions movement (BDS). Its activities were referred to as "an online propaganda campaign" and "a virtual situation room of pro-Israel experts".
Act.IL directed its users to "missions" to like, comment on, and share pro-Israel material on social media. It also asked users to flag, report, and respond to criticisms of Israel. Users were guided on how to respond, which might entail writing a reply using the provided talking points, or sharing or upvoting an allied comment. The app also provided users with ready-made memes promoting Israel's perspective for them to share. By completing missions users earned points, unlocked badges, and had their scores displayed on leaderboards.
You can program users/bots to keyword search places like Reddit to specifically brigade posts like this. Social media nowadays is very easy to brigade, dead internet theory is surprisingly accurate.
calling anyone who doesn't fully believe the fantastical idea that israelis and palestinians will peacefully merge into one state anytime soon, or that israelis will just up and leave the country altogether, or that palestinian leaders will readily agree to two states when they've turned down offers before a “zionist” isn't productive. you can support palestinian rights, condemn the killing of civilians in gaza, and still recognize that hamas committed terrorism and that every proposed solution faces huge obstacles. when every bit of nuance gets lumped in with people who actually want palestinians gone, the word loses its meaning and nobody can have an honest conversation.
I'm happy to say "fuck israel" definitely not a zionist.
Although is OP going to tell me with a straight face that if Hamas grabbed control of the rest of Israel like they want (from the river to the sea) that they would treat the jews fairly? Apartheid would be an improvement to what Hamas would do.
Like this is so disingenuous, like Israel is only attacking because someone protested. I mean Oct 7th didn't happen I guess right?
Maybe have some honest dialogue on where both sides are really at here and not just make up some BS narrative.
And I'll repeat, I hate Israel too, they have no excuse for the level of destruction they've responded with. Also, Iran can go fuck themselves too, and the USA while we are at it, and Russia. Fuck them all.
What does taking a side look like? Is posting online "taking a side"? Or does it require more substantive support? Because I absolutely do not think it's valuable for every unengaged and uninformed person to feel the need to weigh in online on every conflict or crime against humanity
Taking a side looks like making a comment online about how they just "want to be left tf alone", all on their own with no external demand for their input. That's what taking the side of the oppressor looks like, for an example you can find actually in this thread.
"All it takes for evil to succeed is for good people to do nothing."
But again, what does doing something entail? I don't think posting online is doing anything to prevent evil prevailing.
I agree that saying "i don't care" unprompted is silly, but I find it a lot more honest than the people who are very loud online but haven't given any time or money to actually Palestinian orgs, or taken real risks to speak truth to power.
Like, it's funny to heckle Jerry Seinfeld or to call Ed Sheeran a zionist, but it doesn't help the people they're pretending to care about at all. The most egregious to me are the people who claim to support a free Palestine but are also one state solution deadenders, a position no serious Palestinian holds.
All that to say, I find using online statements of support as a litmus test for actual support to be deeply silly, and i don't think you really believe it anyhow. Your post history has no mention of Uyghers or of Sudan, or of what happened in Mariupol, and by your standards, that makes you on the side of evil. I don't think you're evil, though. I think you're just someone who doesn't know much about those other things, and i don't expect, or frankly, want your opinion on those. And I don't think you think you're evil either.
Lmao I have definitely spoken on the plight of the Uyghurs, what's going on in Sudan and that of Mariupol but go off about nonsense with a lack of evidence. I'll keep speaking up against carrying water for evil men, and you keep carrying water for evil men.🤙
One side is worse then the other but no side is innocent except the kids. So sitting out a fight between two bad groups is a valid opinion to have while also allowing for refuge to those who are truly innocent.
I'm anti-blowing children up. Maybe we should ask why Israel nurtured and funded HAMAS. Pro-Palestinian can be Anti-Israel and Anti-HAMAS.
Anyone blowing up kids and innocents is bad, full stop. Correct. This isn't about HAMAS, though if you want to bring them up I'd seriously ask why Israel made and funded them.
Only one side is proudly posting "child crippling contests" and suprisingly it isn't HAMAS. Nice try to shift goal-posts though.
