WPL: New Comics Discussion for 10/14/2026- Pull of the Week: Doom Patrol #2 [Discussion]

The [Weekly Pull List results]() for this Wednesday are in, and this week's top book is DC's Doom Patrol #2.

This thread is open to Pull List posters and all members of the /r/comicbooks community to share your thoughts on the latest issue of DC's Doom Patrol or any new books shipping this week.

The primary intention of this thread is to promote discussion of new books. It also serves as a way to consolidate discussion to a single thread and talk about what books are popular here on /r/comicbooks. That does not mean other threads aren't welcome, this is just a place to start that's easy to find each week.

The thread is populated with comments meant to direct the discussion of each book. Based on community preference we populate the thread with titles appearing on Ten Percent or more of submitted pull lists. If a title you want to talk about is not listed, simply add a comment with the title and issue number first and comment below. There is also a comment dedicated to the discussion of WPL Results linked above.

Spoilers will follow, but there's no harm in tagging them as such. Each title in the Top Ten Percent listed below is linked directly to its corresponding comment for ease of navigation and to avoid seeing details from other books. The post has also been placed in "contest mode" to help readers avoid spoilers while browsing.

Two things about this issue. First, the pacing is so weird, the whole reveal has been built through two arcs but the whole resolution of this huge status quo change is going to happen in less then 2 issues because they have to build up to yet another crossover event

Second, just goes to show how little the editorial departments talk with each other. Sorcerer Supereme ended two months ago with Wanda resigning from the position but in this issue they couldn't even be bothered to put an editor note saying it takes place before Sorcerer Supreme #10

Probably my favorite issue thus far in the Kelly run.

Man, Ravage should have been torment. Peter is being torment-ed by ravage. Thinking on this further, the entire story of ravage should have been in issue 1000. I think this would have made a compelling giant sized story culminating in either May's death or her remembering.

The only good thing about this comic is Peter talking to MJ about what’s happening to Aunt May. The okay things about this are Peter talking to Norman about Cormac and needing Wanda’s help with something. The rest of just him and Cormac about to have a fight. Overall, this comic is okay.

This is actually kind of amazing? As soap opera-y as Cormac started, Ravage has a great design, and the plot feels totally fresh, a big compliment for a book that’s now past 1000 issues. It’s also always great when a villain exists in the nexus that affects both Spider-Man and Peter. Solid MJ moment too. And I like that Ric is kind of a d*ck to Peter, feels realistic and grounded, not over the top.

Overall, Kelly is knocking it out of the park. As somewhat repetitive his plots can be (first long lost friend, now long lost cousin) I feel it all works because it ties into a consistent emotional
arc: Peter’s relationship with May. I would be shocked if this run doesn’t climax in Peter revealing he’s Spider-Man and I couldn’t be happier.
