Team Member Post Roster reset

Post image
66 Upvotes

Service Manager has been with us for over 12 months now. She told me 12 months ago that she’d increase my hours in march. March came, she didn’t make any changes. Told me to wait for October.
I messaged her start of September asking about an increase and she said she’d let me know.
No contracts arrived until the day before reset happened. We are all doing our new contracts without signing anything. Two who’d been casual are now listed as part time without agreeing. It’s a big mess! My average hours per week for the last 12 months is 32. I don’t think asking for 25 is a big leap.
I’m ready to walk over this 😒
Tell me how this reads. I don’t want it to come across too emotional.

Questions What's the difference?

I usually buy the "Australian Butter" but just noticed that the Coles Simply version says "Product of Australia" and has no information (online at least) about the origin if it's imported and just packaged here. I remember there used to be one that clearly said it was from India but now it doesn't state anything.

Customer Post Outages at Coles

What a fun week it has been.

Multiple outrages have occurred this week. The “new” Chief Technology Officer, disguised as a COO, took over in March, after sacking the previous CTO, who unlike the current leadership team, was customer focussed, and the place is a mess with the offshoring. Systems are collapsing. Hopefully, the CTO and the leadership team will lose their bonus over this
Week’s disasters. He is being paid extra as he took on the CTO role. Surely, and this proves it, he can’t do two roles and he should have a salary drop for the COO role.

Anyway, as customers we are suffering. Competitors are making money out of this. The debacles and incompetence of the leadership team has cost millions in lost revenue just this week alone. The solution is obvious to anyone - stop making changes - what a great way to grow a business. What a brilliant solution. I would like to get paid millions to come up with this solution. We don’t now have to fix the problem is how this is interpreted.

It’s time for the leadership team to be replaced with a competent, customer focussed team, instead of being focussed purely on financials.

Team Member Post Online duty managers, what’s expected of you in your role?

Unsure if it’s just my store but it feels like what is expected of me in my role is impossible. Just last night my coworker and I were alone for a couple hours with rapids, shopping and clicks all happening. It felt like there were too many clicks for one person and the shopping wasn’t being touched as my coworker was picking the rapids.

All this while I was meant to finish within the hour, still had truck checks to do as well outdated layouts. Throughout the day had been so hectic that even my dm left as he’d “had enough”.

Team Member Post How many hours does a casual store team member get?

hi! I just got hired at Coles as a casual worker and would like to know typically how many hours can I expect? I know it varies from store to store because my friends who work as casuals at other stores get 10-30 hours total each week.

my main concern is that I study full time at uni and I already have a part time job which gives me 12 hours and it’s spread across 2 days. Is there a minimum number of hours per week that I can expect? I just want to plan ahead a little to figure out what my finances will look like if I keep both jobs or quit the part time one.

TIA!

Customer Post gone into negative flybuys points, $10 off twice!

Post image

Shopping a day or two ago, the self-checkout offered me $10 off because I'd accrued enough flybuys. Took the opportunity. Today the self-checkout did it again despite there being no way I had got enough points in the meantime. Naturally I said yes please, another $10 off my shopping. I checked my flybuys app: I now have minus 1829 points!

How many of these did they buy to have to dump stock? The asian grocery section does seem to wildly fluctuate.

Team Member Post Time off for mental health

• Upvotes

Long story short + context; I’ve been at Coles for 3yrs and on a 34hr a week contract at the moment, I’ve been in a bad spot mentally for almost a year and it’s getting to a point that I’m struggling to go to work. I feel passionate about nothing, this job is good in that it’s mindless but that is starting to make things worse for me. I only leave the house for my shifts and probably once a fortnight to see a friend. I’ve taken sick days before when I’ve felt like this and I was honest that it was for mental health, and some negative/dismissive comments my department manager and ssm made got back to me afterwards. Feels so patronising the way people respond and like there’s no way to express this to a manager.

I feel so stuck. I don’t want to lose my job but I’m not coping at the moment. If anyone has been in a similar spot how did you go about it, thanks.

Team Member Post Working different times to your contact?

I’ve recently became contracted to at least 13 hours a week. Which I’ve been easily getting working 30 plus hours a week, however actually working my set contracted shifts have been inconsistent with working the same days but different time-slots. Or in different departments does this happen with other people and is it fine that this happens? I’m more than happy with the hours just thought that more so signing the contract meant that I would be working the same shifts at the same times and same departments as per my contract.

Customer Post Does alcohol purchase count with points boost offer?

$220 minimum spend. Click and collect order. If I add alcohol to this does it count towards the spend limit? Terms mention no tobacco but nothing about alcohol.

Questions 2 year Expired vanilla extract

• Upvotes

So I needed some vanilla extract, went to Cole’s, found the cheapest option for best quality, went to self checkout. The extract wasn’t scanning so the worker came over and had a look at the bottle, told me it was expired in 2024 and that I couldn’t buy it. I asked why are they selling extract that is expired by 2 years, he didn’t have a response so here I am..

So how does this happen? Was it really sitting on the shelf for 2 years and they never check their stock? Has no one bought extract from there in that long? Is Cole’s usually this disgusting when it comes to expired products? How do they possibly miss something 2 years expired and let it sit in the shelf? I feel like I need to start checking shelf stable items to see when they expire now which is something I never did before

Questions Is there a “lucky dip” option to Coles online delivery where you pay say $150 and then receive random selections of groceries? I’d be keen for it to keep life interesting and try new things etc

Customer Post Is what Coles doing with paper bags legal

How can Coles justify a 20% increase in paper bags. Is what they are doing even legal, I thought they were only passing the cost of bags onto the customer, they shouldn't be making a profit out of the bags like they are now.

The way things are going it's tempting to get 100% off those bags.

Team Member Post Denied payment

I work at Coles and someone else I know whom works here called in sick to their shift half an hour beforehand, unknown reason, and the person in charge of the payslips just decided to not pay her. How can they do that? What makes them think that’s the right thing to do?

Edit: I understand that she would need a med cert or use her leave, but it’s the fact that the payroll officer just went straight to “I’m not gonna pay her,” instead of discussing the two options first.
