So I had a type set that I sold to pay for my daughter’s college education. In that collection I had a 20 cent piece. I’m now working on a new type set that I’m starting for our grandchild who is a newborn. I just replaced that 20 cent piece. By the time they go to college I’ll be at Gabriel’s Gate but it’s fun putting a new type set together.

I work in a grocery store and I part of my shift includes opening a fresh roll of coins each day. Today I found this beauty!!

I know it’s not perfect but for a random find in a random roll of nickels it’s not in bad shape!

I especially love the edges, a key feature impossible to appreciate on slabbed coins.

I got this coin recently but after doing some reading there seems to be lots of fakes out there. It came up on the scale at exactly 18 grams. What do you all think?

Value Request I can't decide if this is worth grading

I can't decide whether to submit this to PCGS for grading. I am guessing it's MS64-MS65, and has iridescent toning on both sides. 1936 is a common date, which is why it's been sitting in a Dansco album for 25 years. Any suggestions?

Real or Fake? Authenticity Check

I purchased this 1893cc for a good price, It’s going to be a gift for a friend so I just wanted to see if it looks good. I’m sure that it’s silver but I was wondering if the mint mark or date had maybe been altered, I can take more photos if necessary. Thanks

Real or Fake? Pretty sure this 1808 East India Company X Cash might be a counterfeit. It weighs 4.82 grams, not 4.66 as it should, it has a very high pitch ping, and it has a silvery color to it. Anyway to know for sure if it's real?

Let's see where everyone lands on this one.

Take a look at both sides of this 1885 Morgan. What grade would you give it, and what's the first thing you're looking at to make that call?

We'll share the certified grade later in the comments.

So i love libertads and understand the premiums that come with them, but i was wondering do graded Ms69 libertads have a extra premium? (Just a normal year no key date's) If so what's a reasonable price, raw libertads are about 30 over spot around 90 dollars. So what would a ms69 be? Would you pay 110-120? Ms 70 are around 150-180. Do you guys buy ms 69 libertad? or just ms 70 only lmk please!! Any comments are appreciated, i just wanted too see how my fellow collectors value libertads

Discussion Handling coins from mint

I got a roll of coins straight from the mint and want to send a couple in for grading. I haven't opened the roll yet. Looking for advice on handling/storing them when I open the roll and send them in. Im hoping to get the best grade possible. Should I wear gloves when I open the roll? Should I put the ones I'm sending in for grading in coin flips? What's the best course of action?

An amazing mint error involving planchets of two different denominations. A half dime planchet and a half dollar planchet were fed together between half dollar dies, with the half dime planchet situated between the half dollar planchet and the reverse die. The half dollar planchet was indented by the half dime planchet during the strike, creating a mated error pair.

Discussion Does First Releases affect whether you preorder a Silver Eagle?

I’ve seen NGC First Releases on Silver Eagles, and since my earlier collections have that designation, I’m now thinking about whether to keep the same designation going with my next coin. At the same time, I’m not sure if it’s worth making that part of what I look for when I preorder, especially when the issue and grade are already the same.

How do you guys feel about this when choosing a presale? Does consistency across the set matter enough to decide ahead of release, or is it something you'd sort out later?
