Asking a Question Google Search optimization

• Upvotes

Hey people, could you share some experience optimizing Chrome extensions for Google Search? Any tips/recommendations? Especially for short/full descriptions.

I've tried to optimize, but I fear I over-optimized, and Google now might think that my extension spams with the keywords in the description (hopefully not, but you cannot know for sure).

That would help a lot. I'm generally trying to find the correct path to optimization, and if I find, I'll share with you also. Thanks!

Idea Validation / Need feedback I built an AI sidebar for Gmail that does bulk actions. It's in beta and I'd like feedback on response quality and speed

• Upvotes
I've been building Sylvia, a Chrome extension that puts an AI assistant in a sidebar inside Gmail. It's my own project, and it's still in beta — I'm looking for first impressions rather than signups.

Availability note: while it's in beta, the extension is listed in the EU and Switzerland only.

The gap I kept hitting: most AI email tools help you *read* your inbox — summaries, "what needs a reply". The part that actually eats my time is *acting* on it: labelling months of invoices, archiving newsletters, clearing out no-reply senders. So Sylvia turns a plain-English instruction into real Gmail operations.

Things you type:
- "label every invoice from this month as Accounting"
- "archive all newsletters older than two weeks"
- "summarise the Q4 relaunch thread"
- "draft a polite decline to Marcus"

The design decision I care most about: nothing destructive happens without an explicit confirmation. Before any write, it shows the exact message count and which threads are affected, then waits for a yes. Bulk operations on a mailbox are unforgiving, and I didn't want a model's mistake to cost someone their inbox.

On privacy, since it's the first thing I'd ask too: email content is never stored — not in a database, not in logs. It goes to the AI provider for that single request and is discarded. The proxy runs in the EU. Google's OAuth verification is complete, including the CASA security assessment. You can also bring your own OpenAI / Gemini / Azure key, in which case nothing touches my server at all.

Technically: MV3, chrome.identity for auth, Gmail API batch requests for the bulk operations.

New accounts get a few free actions to try it, then it's prepaid credits — no subscription.

https://www.sylviamail.app/

https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/sylvia-%E2%80%94-ai-email-assista/elenpmjenkpnokfededgabenaafmljna

Two things I'd really like your read on, since they're what I can still change:

1. **Response quality** — does it understand what you asked, pick the right emails, and are the drafted replies actually usable, or do they read like filler?
2. **Speed** — how long from instruction to result, and where does it feel slow? Searching, thinking, or executing the action?

Anything that confused you or didn't work as expected is useful too — beta means I'd rather hear it now.

Sharing Resources/Tips I built an offline chart maker that lives in Chrome's side panel

I got tired of opening another tab or SaaS just to make a quick bar/line/pie chart, so I built BeCharts: an Apache ECharts-based editor in the side panel. 21 chart types (bar, line, pie, Sankey, treemap, etc.) Import CSV / Excel, edit in a table Export PNG / SVG / PDF (and offline HTML) Works offline; nothing is uploaded Chrome Web Store: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/gedaaehhdopngblhadflkdgfbjemhehgSite: https://www.becharts.com/ Would love feedback on the side-panel UX and which chart types you would actually use.

Asking a Question what’s the one stupid digital inconvenience that makes you want to throw your laptop?

I am so tired of building random side projects that nobody actually uses. Yesterday I lost a half-written draft because a tab reloaded itself out of nowhere and wiped the entire form state. it is such a stupid, small thing, but it made me want to close my laptop and walk away for the rest of the day.

I feel like browser tools today miss the point, and modern workflows are secretly broken. everyone is shipping bloated dashboards when we just need simple things that actually work. change my mind.

I want to code something genuinely useful for once, but I need to know where the actual pain points are.

What is the one minor digital inconvenience that makes you want to throw your laptop out the window? Let me hear your worst complaints.

Sharing Resources/Tips I built a Chrome side-panel whiteboard for sketches, diagrams, and notes

Hi everyone — I'm the developer of Tldraw Slide Board, a Chrome extension that puts a tldraw whiteboard beside the page you're viewing.

It's for the small things you want to sketch while browsing: a quick flowchart, an architecture idea, a study note, or a plan that is easier to draw than type. The canvas opens in Chrome's side panel, so you can keep the page and your drawing visible together.

What it does:

• Draw with tldraw's pen, shapes, text, and notes.

• Save boards locally and organize them by date.

• Browse thumbnail cards or switch to a compact list.

• Pin boards you want to keep at the top, even when changing date ranges.

• Back up your boards with JSON import and export.

• Optionally sync between devices through Google Drive, with board contents encrypted before upload.

The latest version, 0.1.8, adds the card/list toggle and persistent pins. You can use the extension locally without connecting Google Drive.

The source is available on GitHub:

https://github.com/seachenjy/TldrawSlideBoard

Chrome Web Store:

https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/bafgmfeifgfgjmelnheoaacbekhjllgd

If you try it, I'd appreciate feedback: what would make a side-panel whiteboard useful in your everyday workflow?

Sharing Journey/Experience/Progress Updates Stop losing articles to link rot: Built a Chrome Extension that saves full offline copies as Markdown

How many times have you saved a bookmark only to find the link dead, paywalled, or deleted a few months later?

Most extensions just save a plain URL. I built FetchMark to solve this by creating true offline-first web archives.

Key features:

1.Save Full Web Pages / Reader View: Archive the entire text content locally so you never lose it.

  1. Instant Local Full-Text Search: Search through the actual body text of everything you’ve saved.

  2. Markdown Export: Keep your data portable and easy to use across offline apps.

100% Free Open Beta

Would love to hear feedback from this community!

I've been working on a little project called Website Privacy Inspector

It's a free, open-source browser extension built to help people inspect website privacy-related information. I wanted to build something useful that people could try without paying for another subscription.

  • 💻 Source code available on GitHub
  • 🛠️ Open to feedback, suggestions, and contributions

This is my project, and I'm still looking for ways to make it better. I'd genuinely love to hear what you think, what features you'd like to see, or what I could improve.

Self Promotion TabFlow – free, open source, local-first tab dedupe, grouping and search (Chrome/Firefox)

Hi, I just published TabFlow Agent on the Chrome Web Store and Firefox Add-ons. It's a free, open-source extension built to solve tab clutter without handing your data to a third-party server.

https://snvishna.github.io/tabflow-agent/

✨ Highlights:

• Dedupe on open: listens to webNavigation.onBeforeNavigate for newly opened tabs only (never navigation inside an existing tab). On an exact normalized-URL match it focuses the existing tab and shows an Undo notice.

• Grouping: all-MiniLM-L6-v2 embeddings run in WASM inside the MV3 service worker (runtime bundled, no remote code; weights ~25 MB, fetched once from Hugging Face). Greedy cosine clustering with a same-domain bonus. You get a preview and can rename groups before anything is applied.

• Search: one palette (Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+Space) over open tabs, recently closed tabs and an IndexedDB archive. Order-agnostic multi-term matching on title + URL.

• Auto-archive: optional hourly alarm that closes tabs idle for N days. Every closed tab is kept for 90 days and can be restored.

• Undo stack for every action (Alt+Shift+U).

Privacy: local-first, no account, no telemetry, no server. Optionally bring your own key (Anthropic, OpenAI, Gemini, or any OpenAI-compatible endpoint such as Groq). A fast model then decides "same app, reuse the tab" vs. "different document, keep both" for same-site URLs, and a stronger one names groups. Only titles and URLs are sent, only to the provider you set, with a 15 s timeout and an on-device fallback.

Self Promotion I built ReachCraft Page Inviter for Facebook Pages — looking for setup feedback

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Disclosure: I build ReachCraft.

Page Inviter is a Chrome extension for inviting people who reacted to a Facebook Page’s posts to follow the Page, when Facebook offers an Invite action. It has configurable timing, session limits and progress counters.

I would value feedback from Page admins: is the setup clear, and which controls would you expect before starting a session? The 30-second clip below is an interface tour with demo data, not a live performance test.

It requires Facebook in English and email activation. The trial lasts 7 days from the first job, with no card required. Afterward: USD 7.99/month or USD 69/year, plus applicable tax. No guaranteed follower growth or exemption from Facebook limits. Use only for Pages you are authorized to manage.

Chrome Web Store: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/reachcraft-page-inviter/kdgajhimehhdcifkbpebgcciljbchhmh?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=organic_social&utm_campaign=reachcraft_launch_202610_chrome_extensions

I wouldn’t say it looked like it was edited by a professional video editor but it’s insane for someone with zero editing experience to produce something like this in 15 minutes.

Sharing Journey/Experience/Progress Updates I updated X Account Risk Monitor. Want your product featured on my website? Let’s talk.

Hi everyone, I’m the developer of X Account Risk Monitor, a free Chrome extension. I’ve been updating it to make your own activity on X easier to review and its reminders more useful.

The extension keeps a local log of actions it can observe on X pages open in your Chrome profile, including posts, replies, follows, unfollows, likes, reposts, and confirmed deletions of your own posts. You can review activity by month or across your full recorded history.

The latest improvements include clearer on-page reminders with the observed evidence behind them, experimental self-checks for similar posts, repeated link-only posts, and follow/unfollow patterns, plus a more useful PDF report and JSON backup. The interface also makes it clearer when each type of activity was last recorded and where gaps in the record may exist.

Everything is stored locally in your Chrome profile. The extension doesn’t use the X API or perform actions on your behalf. Its reminders are prompts to review your own activity, not predictions about account restrictions.

I’d appreciate feedback from anyone who tries it, especially on which reminders are useful and what’s confusing.

Website: https://x-account-risk-monitor.pages.dev/

P.S. If you’re building a product that could be useful to visitors of the project website and would like to discuss being featured there, feel free to message me.

Self Promotion Built a Chrome extension "Teleprompter" with voice-sync tracking so you never lose your place during video calls or recordings 🎤

Hey folks,

I wanted to share an extension I recently built and launched on the Chrome Web Store: Teleprompter.

I wanted something lightweight for browser-based presentations and video recording that didn't force me to create an account or route my scripts through third-party servers.

Under the hood / Tech details:

  • Built entirely for the browser using local storage (chrome.storage.local).
  • Features three driving modes: Speech-to-text live anchoring (Voice-driven), Words per minute (WPM) auto-scroll, and manual paragraph stepping.
  • Zero data footprint: Scripts, settings, and logs stay on your machine, and speech recognition runs locally in-memory.

If you do a lot of remote pitching, content creation, or presentations, give it a spin and let me know your feedback!

🔗 Check it out on the Chrome Web Store

Self Promotion I built Decker: an open-source Chrome extension for browser meeting notes

I built Decker for meetings that happen in a Chromium browser tab. It records the tab audio (and your mic if you choose), lets you correct the transcript, then generates a meeting document, presentation, discussion page, or static prototype as an HTML file. No meeting bot joins the call.

The extension is free and MIT-licensed. It uses your own OpenAI or Gemini API key, so the provider processes the audio and text and may charge for usage. There is no Decker account. It cannot record native desktop meeting apps.

Chrome Web Store: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/decker-browser-meeting-no/khbafeikhdehdhpfcbdlfkpmmikbfihk

Source: https://github.com/AishwaryShrivastav/decker

If you try v0.1.4, I would value feedback on whether you reached a useful output and where setup or recording got stuck.

Two subreddits count as related when a lot of the same people comment in both. I scored this over one month of public Reddit comments (September 2026, from the Arctic Shift dumps), which covers about 115,000 subreddits. Inspired by anvaka's sayit map of subreddits and gitrec: github recommendations.

Self Promotion I built a free-to-try extension that finds the videos, subtitles and files on a page and downloads them with clean names

Thumbnail
gallery
1 Upvotes

Hi! I'm a solo developer and I just published Dx Downloader on the Chrome Web Store (also on Microsoft Edge).

What it does: click its icon on a page and it lists what you can download: videos (including HLS streams), audio, subtitles and files like PDFs and ZIPs. One click saves them with readable names instead of `video_8f3a2.mp4`.

Features

Course Mode: saves lessons into folders (Course / Section / Lesson)

Subtitles as VTT or SRT

Download history kept on your device only

No account, no tracking, 18 languages, dark mode

What it doesn't do: it only downloads what your browser can already access. It doesn't break DRM or paywalls, and it doesn't support YouTube.

Price: free to use with a daily limit, no account needed. An optional Pro plan removes the limits..

Chrome Web Store: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/dx-downloader/anlnobmlmjabdpioaphihlhjcbppgfhf

Website: https://www.dxdownloader.com

It's my first public extension, so I'd really like your feedback:

on which sites does it miss something, and what would make it more useful for you?

(I also made free in-browser PDF and image tools on the same site, if that's useful to anyone.)

Self Promotion I made an extension that runs your old Selenium IDE tests again (it was removed from Chrome Web Store)

Selenium IDE was removed from Chrome Web Store in the MV2 cleanup this August. It was not updated since 2021 anyway, but a lot of people still have tests recorded as .side files and now there is no way to run them in Chrome.

So I made SideReplay. It's a MV3 extension that opens .side files and runs them in the side panel. You can also record new tests, and export them to Playwright code if you want to move away from recorder tools later.

Some things it does:

- runs Selenium IDE commands including if/while/times, alerts, iframes and new tabs

- when a locator is broken, it tries the other locators saved in the file and shows which one worked

- also opens Katalon Recorder test suites, because Katalon Recorder is not maintained anymore either

- has a "Try an example" button, so you can see it working without your own file

Record, replay and the locator fixing are free. Exporting a whole project, HTML reports and running every row of CSV data are paid ($9/month).

If you used Selenium IDE before, I'm curious what would stop you from using something like this. Any feedback is welcome.

Idea Validation / Need feedback Tab Sampler

Thumbnail tabsampler.com
1 Upvotes

I built Tab Sampler because I kept falling down YouTube rabbit holes, downloading full songs just to check a sample. Half the time it wasn't even that good.

It's a free Chrome extension. Capture audio from any tab, auto-chop it into samples, and play them on a 16-pad sampler right in your browser. No DAW needed.

Hope you enjoy it. Feedback is very welcome.

Asking a Question Extensão

How can I tell whether the delay is in my MV3 extension or in the web app? I’m a non-technical user trying to understand a problem with a Chrome Manifest V3 extension. I press F8 manually; the extension selects the latest visible item in a queue and clicks a confirmation button. Sometimes a coworker sees the queue update before I do. On my computer, the page may still show the item as waiting until I refresh. I’d like to figure out whether the delay is caused by the extension, my browser/session/network, or the web app’s live updates. What timestamps or measurements would help separate those possibilities? I can share a sanitized manifest/content-script snippet and a local demo using fake data, but I can’t share the company’s real page, customer data, credentials, or access to the system. The extension only acts when I press the shortcut. I’m not trying to automate customer handling in the background.

Idea Validation / Need feedback I updated Scrollsmith’s homepage — is it clear what the Chrome extension does?

I’m the developer of Scrollsmith, a desktop Chrome extension for customizing scrollbars. I’ve just updated the homepage and would really appreciate some honest first impressions.

https://usescrollsmith.com

A few things I’d like to understand:

  1. After a quick look, is it clear what the extension does?

  2. Is anything confusing, missing, or hard to find?

  3. Would you try it? What makes you interested or hesitant?

It has free themes and optional paid Premium themes. You don’t need to install anything to give feedback on the website. If you do try the extension, I’d also love to know whether choosing and applying a theme feels straightforward.

Even one specific thing you’d change would be helpful. Thanks!
