Question Debug Map Mod question. (Torn Scripture)

• Upvotes

Hey fellow puzzle solvers, I have a question about Torn Scripture puzzle. I have the answer for the puzzle because I've already replayed the level once accidentally (I held ctrl while clicking the level) But I'm unsure if that's the way to correctly solve the puzzle, am I missing something? I would appreciate if any of you told me if that's the correct way to solve it or not because it just doesn't seem right.

Achievement (modded) Finally finished the advanced lobby!

Took a big break when I just had synapse, tower (XVI), and starlight station left to do. I got a little frustrated on the second last screen of synapse but I breezed through it upon coming back and then just had to crawl through the tower and experience the beautiful flowing chaos of starlight station before finishing off with mango mesa. Dusk city was probably my favourite map although there were so many I loved in this lobby (skateboard go brrr), and the only ones that particularly frustrated me ended up being belated valentines, the tower fakeout, and parts of synapse. Overall it was an awesome lobby, and I am looking forward to expert! (On a side note this lobby has destroyed my perception of the base game difficulty, I was doing consecutive 7C goldens to chill out between harder mango mesa screens)

Discussion Chapter 8b sucks Spoiler

Complete cycle rng hell hole omg. I can’t believe this is what stands between me and the C sides. Every other B side was great but this is the complete opposite.

I want to rip my hair out just trying to get to the next room let alone the next check point. Why would they do this?

I guess the core was never super good to begin with but this takes it to a whole new level of misery.

Achievement (modded) Finally beat Drifting Deep after 16 hours

Post image
10 Upvotes

I finally beat Drifting Deep after 16 hours and 7500 deaths. And not even with berries yet! Next hardest map was Superluminary, which took 4000 deaths and 6.5 hours and Flipside Cliffside (full clear) which took 3000 deaths and 7 hours. Some of that certainly comes from there just being more rooms in the map, but not most of it. The notorious room 6 took me 4.5 hours, and rooms 8 and 9 both took me over 3 hours as well, so over half the total time and deaths was just in those three rooms. Guess that's how it goes sometimes.

In principle the map was kind of fun, but it overstayed its welcome. I know this is a common opinion, but every room was way too long and there were too many rooms. Have this same map, but with 20-30 second rooms instead of 30-45 second rooms and have 6 rooms instead of 10, and this would have been an amazing map.

I guess I'll go back for the berries, though a couple have a lot of fast bubbling, which I'm really bad at. But I've gotten all the berries in the lobby so far, so I might as well try for them. Some of them look fun at least.

I did it!!!

The level is MOCE // CPVL and the difficulty sits at Yellow GM+1 - By far the longest i've ever spent on a single screen to this date. Insane grind, but its so so much fun.

Time to clear heart room and finish this level off, but felt like posting this here before I do. So proud of this

Discussion Should Celeste use Steam's new achievement sets?

https://steamcommunity.com/games/593110/announcements/detail/710037059469839142

This was just announced. Achievements can be put into different sets now. One of the comments in the r/games thread talked about maybe using this for something like the Farewell Golden. When I read that comment I thought I would make a thread here to see what people think.

In theory, every golden could have its own achievement in a new Golden Berry set. And maybe there could be other sets with other difficult challenges the community can come up with, or for getting speedruns under certain times. And these wouldn't take away anybody's 100% completion of the set we have now.

This idea probably isn't possible, but if it is possible it might be cool to have new achievement sets for modded Celeste.

Question Was I actually supposed to do this?

Post image

Remember this screen? The solution I came up with was to jump, throw my friend against the left wall, use an upward dash, grab him, and then throw him to the right. I made it past the screen, but I didn’t use the moving platform down below kkkkkkk, what was I actually supposed to do, oh my god?

Discussion Advice for Improvement for this IL-Forsaken City Run? (Run starts at 0:12)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey folks! First of all, any advice on how to improve the frame rate for recording the run would be appreciated, idk why the snipping tool is recording the gameplay at such a bad frame rate.

Apart from that though, any advice on how to actually improve the run? I can only think of up to a second of improvement here myself, and I am going for sub-50 for the main run right now (my first full game run yesterday was 56 mins), but I know I am like 20 seconds off WR for this IL so I would at least like to get closer to that.

Achievement (modded) Never again

Post image
44 Upvotes

This is going near the top of my list of things that I've done once to prove to myself I could do it, but will never do again lol. Genuinely fun map! Took me close to 20 hours in total to do, and I have a lot of thoughts about the map.

In the form of room difficulty ratings, from hardest to easiest:

  1. B4 Extra Ball - took 4.5 hours, kept struggling with the spring regrab before the 3 bumpers at the end. Fun challenge but very difficult, took forever to get consistent at the first phase with Theo.
  2. Pumber - took around 3 hours, hardest part is the beginning.
  3. Helix -took around 2.5 hours, most of which was me being stuck at the first moonboost of the map
  4. B5 Malfunction - Took around 30 mins, but is the hardest section of the entire map due to its precision and timing.
  5. Recoil - As is a trend with a lot of the rooms in this map, the hardest part is the beginning.
  6. Haste - Everything except for the end is difficult and fast, hence the name
  7. B3 Rebound - Very input-dense berry, quicker inputs than haste but shorter and thus slightly easier imo. The ending was the least consistent too.
  8. Symbiosis - Felt a bit like juggling, timing was fairly precise too. Died a ton in the beginning third trying to get into the swing of things, and even by the time I beat it, I was still fairly inconsistent at the beginning.
  9. Phase - There are a lot of precise maneuvers in this, but I felt like once I actually got the hang of phasing through bumpers, the level wasn't too bad. Because of this, the berry wasn't bad at all. The hardest part in this case was the ending, I died so many times to the chain of like 5 bumpers at the end.
  10. Instability - If I had figured out I could have phased through the central bumper at the end, I would have finished in half the time that I did. There are some difficult coins here, but nothing felt inherently unfair.
  11. Delta - Hardest part was the last third imo, very fair level overall
  12. Pursuit - Felt difficult when I played it, but compared to the rest, not all that bad. The moonboost at the very end felt mean since I was very inexperienced in these at this point.
  13. Ready? - Took almost an hour, and I gaslit myself into believing the level was showing off the difficulty pumber could get to, and that the next few screens would be easier, and that it would only become more difficult at the end. Nope.

All in all, very fun mechanics presented in an extremely difficult level. If there was an advanced level like this I would love to try it, but as it stands, this is way too difficult for me to want to play again. However, as is the case with all of the gm levels that I've completed so far, I feel like I've become a better celeste player because of beating pumber! But never again aha

Took me some time but now I have everything but the golden strawberries (which honestly I don't think I'll try to get)

Played it a bit on a console that I don't use and never got further than chapter 4.

Finally, the other day I decided to actually go for it since I had the game just sitting on the library for months, im so happy I just had to post it here, farewell is so challenging but also so beautiful.

Question Help me (?) Spoiler

I am where I am without support from youtube/reddit, but now I need help.

I mean, I used once video while one of the b-sides, but only on finish- I wanted to see others people timing (there were two vanishing block).
I want achieve 100% in this game, but I'm stuck! I found on myself those crystal hearts, but I can not find any more. I wonder if there is some crazy trickshot to do and I just didn't figure it out?
I know that in chapter 1 a-side there is something weird with antenna and colorful birds, I just can't prove it.

And I also found weird room (I don't remember wich chapter, reflection I guess) with some doors (?) and colors above them.

I've written more than necessary, but the crux of it is:

Am I able to do 100% WITHOUT any guides, advice, tips? If answer is just yes, because any more would be a tip, I will just... go, listen to surroundings and spend dozens of hours more.
If the answer is no- do you have any tiny, little tip for me?

PS. I wanted to make my first post when I achieve 100%, but there am I :C
PPS. To drag a bit, I'll say that I discovered a room on my own containing other characters from the developers' games.
PPPS. I am not english native speaker, forgive me mistakes

Question Is it possible to backtrack through this section?

I'm trying to full clear 7A, and I realized I missed a strawberry a few rooms back in mirror temple part. Instead of restarting the whole chapter, I decided to try going back for it. However, I can't seem to get past this section.

I can dash through the gap and to the left, but I fall just a tiny bit short of reaching the wall. Is there some technique I could use to make it across?

Discussion What Makes Celeste's Music So Memorable?

Post image
20 Upvotes

One of the reasons why I like Celeste's soundtrack so much is its ability to take old-school chiptune music and combine it with something more modern. Those who grew up playing on old-school consoles like the NES or Sega Genesis will feel right at home with Celeste's music. It's nostalgic while also feeling fresh and unique. The game takes inspiration from the past without sacrificing its own identity. The soundtrack and the game's pixel art work in conjunction with each other to perfection. Even though the music blends old-school chiptune sounds with more modern elements, neither one overpowers the other. There's a nice balance between the two. It's also worth mentioning how good the soundtrack sounds on vinyl. The format itself is a perfect fit for Celeste's music.

As with any good video game soundtrack, Celeste's music does a great job of changing its tone depending on the mood. One minute, it's full of energy. The next, it's calming and relaxing. Then, it can become emotional. Much like Madeline's ascent of Mount Celeste, the music has its highs and lows. The pace and tempo pick up when things get intense, while also slowing down to give you a chance to catch your breath and relax. The energetic tracks provide momentum as you push through the more demanding sections, while others offer much-needed moments of peace and tranquility. These shifts in tone work together to reflect not only Madeline's challenges and struggles, but the player's as well. The music isn't just something that you listen to in the background. It's just as important to the experience as the gameplay itself. Lena Raine did a phenomenal job of composing it.
