Definitely seems like this thing might do decent work overseas. Did anyone see this possibly being a modest hit?

For you, the day you watched Street Fighter (2026) was the most important day of your life, but for me, it was Tuesday.

Street Fighter is certainly not gonna be a mega hit, but should do fine due to the relatively low budget.
It will probably do well enough to get (at least) one sequel, like Mortal Kombat

u/VeronicaAmericana 10h ago
Can you imagine the hype for a Street Fighter II

u/natedoggcata 8h ago
all they have to do is put Juri in the sequel. Just think of the feet bros walk ups. 1B guaranteed

Tarantino has a lot of exposure, his endorsement could be greatly beneficial. 🤔

I would be very surprised to see Street Fighter hit high 30's domestic opening weekend.

Woah, just realized Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat movies are now under the same umbrella. Now make a versus movie

u/apriorista 11h ago
Street Fighter also has a way lower budget than is being reported.
12
u/JarvisCockerBB 11h ago
No it doesn’t. It’s $82m.

u/IamHimButNotReally Amblin Entertainment 11h ago
Wasn't the previous rumor like 120 or 130 million?
-7
u/apriorista 11h ago
Yes, and it’s also lower than $82M.

u/Poku115 11h ago
You know this how?
-11
u/apriorista 11h ago
I’m close to people in the production. They told me the $120M rumors are laughably incorrect and that the budget was much more modest. I don’t know the exact figure, just that the MK movies were definitely a comp when budgeting SF (which makes sense).

u/JarvisCockerBB 10h ago
“Trust me, bro”

u/apriorista 10h ago
Yeah. And where did you get $82M, hotshot?

Will the movie have Chun li's legs? 😆

It's one of the reasons I'm watching it that's for sure. But it does look like a fun movie in all seriousness as someone that's a fan of fighting games.

Look here, you sexisist piece of shit. Just because every movie made since 2012 has had a shirtless man and no serialization of women doesn't mean that you get to call a pretty woman pretty.
I sentence you to watching Ghostbusters 2016. Director's Cut. Alone.

Higher than Mortal Kombat II's $63 Million, but it all comes down to the thighs legs

I’m legit seeing it for Callina Liang as Chun-Li. They’ve really been pushing her for marketing on TikTok, it’s at that point I completely forgot who tf was playing Ken and Ryu

Ken, Ryu, and Chun Li are the big three — the only three to survive to see Street Fighter III.

It means that the debt will be solved for Paramount-WB merged company, Skydance?

Woah international definitely showing up, could be a moderate success it this holds

Like, The Devils is just a re-release, and the restored content is part of what the original WB ordered to be censored 55 years ago.
The proper WB benchmark should be Clayface.

Huh, not a bad start to this tbh. It was my understanding that this was on track to be a bomb? But I’ll happily be wrong on that!

I saw it last night. It was so fucking good!
It respected the source material sincerely and deeply. This one is for the fans, I fucking loved it and I'm seeing it again.
Legit, if you like Street Fighter, see this movie.

An $11m-$12m opening weekend for “Whalefall” is very underwhelming given its $60 million production budget.
1
u/TheresNoHalfSteppin 7h ago
What is happening with Whalefall? Rough second trailer? The book not being popular enough? Austin Abrahms not being a real box office draw? Thought this would be a buzz worthy hit?

What the fuck is Whalefall?
That's your answer
1
u/LuxHelianthus 4h ago
Yeah, I think so. I've gotten really into horror in the past couple of years, and even the novel sounds boring.
2
u/Shurikenkage 11h ago
Way better start than personally expected... All depends on how well the movie is received if it has hopes to become a success at the box office. I personally think it has some laughable VFX and cheesy dialogue, but for a fighting video game it is a pretty standard thing.

u/Sad_Chai66 10h ago
How are they reporting 70 million dollars opening weekend when the weekend hasnt even started ?

u/Statpaca1701 9h ago
High 30s seems a bit hot for Street Fighter. Deadline not low balling for once?

u/Better_Pumpkin1879 11h ago
70 milion would be a solid start.
