Is this normal. The waiter even rounded with ink, the recommended top section on my bill to get me to tip the minimum 25%. This seems a bit ridiculous to start the top percentage from 25% considering the service and the food was just ok at best.

I’ve been stuck at government center for the last 20 minutes waiting on the blue line, two minutes ago an announcement came saying I should plan for extra travel time because the Orient Heights signal is down for the 10000th time this year. What is the problem with Orient Heights that this happens every other fucking day?

Hi,
Advice welcomed!
Friend and I are visiting Boston for a weekend and trying to do as much as possible.
My friend really wants to check out Loretta’s Last Call. We’re trying to figure out the best way to fit it into our itinerary.
Based on our plans so far, visiting Loretta’s at dinner time on Friday would work best for our schedule. But we’re conflicted because the internet seems to really be harping on how exceptional brunch is with little to say about dinner if there isn’t a scheduled event on the calendar (like swing dancing or line dancing).
My question is, is brunch time really better than the dinner scene at Loretta’s? As of now, we won’t be able to make it to the evening line dancing event on Sunday. Should we try to fit brunch at Loretta’s into our schedule instead of dinner on Friday?

I’ll be driving from the north shore to the faire and wanted to know if there might be any cool places to stop at on the way there or back?

What are the good spots these days for 40s and 50s to mingle and meet? Bars/restaurants where one could meet someone like minded and have a conversation? Not necessarily "upscale" per se but like jeans and a nice top.

Drove by Cambridge Reservoir today and I dont think i have ever seen it so low. I know compounding drought is playing a role, but anything recently built that is draining it? Has it ever been that bad?

Riding the express tomorrow from Framingham in the morning.
I’ll be post-security. Where can I find a good (or decent) Bloody Maria tomorrow before my early afternoon flight?
A Maria is tequila (though preferably mezcal) instead of vodka in a bloody. Though I’m happy to just have a bloody.
Where do I go?

So, the Governor passed some laws about no prior authorizations in certain situations. She is campaigning on this. Sounds good, right? Well, hold on. I found out today that it did not apply to my insurance. I’m trying to get a PA on a breast MRI for screening for breast cancer. I have had breast cancer & I have a pathogenic BRCA 2 gene mutation. That just means I am at higher risk. My insurance company is making it incredibly difficult. I saw the Governor’s ad today & I looked it up and it does apply to anything for screening or treatment of cancer. So, I called Cigna. That is when I found out my plan doesn’t count.
You see, if your insurance plan is what is referred to as “self insured” the rules don’t apply to you. Almost every, if not every large employer is “self-insured” that simply means they pay the bills & they hire an insurance company to be the administrator. All union health insurance is self insured. Every hospital, the state itself. I have not dealt with this end of healthcare in a long time but I want to say if you have more than 100 participants on your insurance plan, it is better to be “self insured”. Regardless, accountants tell businesses yes or no on this. The vast majority of privately insured individuals in the country are on “self-insured” plans. The term is confusing. At any rate, the rules about prior authorizations and copays etc do not apply to self insured plans. Full stop. Further, I learned from Cigna that while my employer is in Massachusetts, they are in a lot of states & countries for that matter, but they write the policies out of Florida because there are no state regulations in Florida & the insurance company can do whatever they want. I later learned that most of these national carriers like Cigna, United, Aetna regardless of where the business they are working with is located, base the policy out of Florida for this reason. Just in case you know. Generally a company who has offices in many states is going to use a national company like this so they don’t have to use a bunch of different companies for different states.
But just so you know, if you get your insurance from your employer & your employer “self-insures” then none of those new rules apply to your insurance. The Governor knows this. I did not. This would be most of the people insured through their employer.

I commute in from Worcester area a few nights a week and my normally 45-60 min commute is taking over 2 hours today. Not sure what’s going on but just heads up

They were from the early 2000s and I think they were either an MA or RI band. My bff and I both have burned copies of their EP that are both scratched to hell. Every once in a while I’ll do a search trying to find their music but I always come up empty.
Hoping someone can help me out, I want to get nostalgic while listening to them.
Editing to add the singer was a woman.

I used ZipCar for a year or two back in 2009/2010 and didn't have any issues at all. I recently went from a 2 car family to 1 car and am looking back at signing back up to ZipCar. I've heard mixed reviews as it seems that after Avis? purchased them, service and availability has gone to s**t. I'd mainly use it for small trips/running errands, shuffling around the kids when we need a 2nd car.
Anyone still use ZipCar now with praise or criticism? If if helps, I'm in Newton/Watertown and there's 2 cars in different locations that are walkable from me.
