Rant *Cough* *Cough* is this a safe space?..

Over this summer I decided to have some fun and go on a couple dates, all dating apps btw cause I dont get asked out irl.

I started to realise I only matched with white guys and only went on dates with white guys.

I was getting a little worried because of course im attracted to black guys I just didnt know why I only liked white guys on dating apps.

I almost feel like I've been indoctrinated to prefer interacial relationships through youtube, tiktok etc since I was a kid.

Just to note I find black men more attractive than white men btw. So this whole experience has made me quit dating apps for the forseeable future and I've blocked any interacial couples I see on social media.

Rant Not having any black girls as friends is draining me...

โ€ข Upvotes

I'm the only black girl at work, the only black girl in my friend group, the only black woman in my partner's side of the family. My whole family lives on the other side of the country, so i don't have them either. and I feel so freaking isolated. I don't even mind if its not a deep connection, just someone to take cute pics with and talk about random stuff. The non-black girls that i'm friends with are lovely, I cherish them so much. I just wish I had someone here that looks like me and understands the struggles of being a black girl. I feel so disconnected from the black girl experience because I don't have a single black female friend and it genuinely makes me want to cry

Ongoing-Relationship Advice Yโ€™ALLLLLL ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ WHY DID THIS MAN TELL ME HE USED TO BE SCARED OF BLACK PEOPLE???

โ€ข Upvotes

Yโ€™allllllllllllll fr fr fr ๐Ÿ’€๐Ÿ’€๐Ÿ’€ my jaw is on the FLOOR because WHAT THE ACTUAL HELL

Okay, I'm Black. That's all you need to know because I'm not about to explain my entire culture just for somebody to get weird in the comments sorry ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿพ

Anyway, I went on a date with a non black guy. Where I live, it's diverse as FUCK. Black people, Asians, Indians, dark skinned people, everybody. Seeing different races is literally NORMAL here. Nobody is having a damn cultural awakening because they saw a Black person at the grocery store

So this guy grew up abroad but is originally from where I live and recently moved back

We were talking on the app, and everything seemed normal. No obvious red flags, decent conversation, all that

WE GET ON THE DATE

Tell me why this man casually drops the N word into conversation and starts telling me how, at university, he was considered the darkest because people called him the N word

You are WHITE. WHITEEEEEE. Not even a little ambiguous. European looking white. The ancestors are not confused about this one

And I'm sitting there like ???????? because how do you even respond to that in a normal conversation???

BUT WAIT. THERE'S MORE

This man proceeds to tell me he USED TO BE RACIST ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Apparently, he had never seen Black people growing up, and the first time he saw one, he used to get SCARED

SCARED OF WHAT, MY BROTHER????? ๐Ÿ’€๐Ÿ’€๐Ÿ’€

Was I supposed to be sitting there nodding like this was a perfectly reasonable childhood experience???

He then explains that he's grown now because he's been exposed to diversity since moving back

EXPOSED TO DIVERSITY????? ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ

LIKE IT'S A NEW MEDICATION HE'S BEEN TAKING FOR SIX MONTHS

Anyway, at that point, I was mentally clocked OUT. I told him I needed to go, and he insisted on driving me home. He even opened the car door for me, which made the entire thing even more bizarre because WHY ARE WE DOING GENTLEMANLY ACTS OF SERVICE AFTER YOUR RACISM CONFESSION???

The date ended. He unmatched me

GOOD. ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ I was going to unmatch him anyway, so thank you for saving me one click, king

But seriously, I'm still baffled because I'm genuinely not used to this kind of interaction. Where I live, people are incredibly diverse, and Black and brown people are part of the everyday community. Obviously, racism exists everywhere, but somebody telling me they were literally AFRAID of Black people because they'd never seen one before is not something I expected to hear on a DATE

I went out looking for a man, and somehow ended up being the diversity training department

I DID NOT APPLY FOR THIS POSITION ๐Ÿ’€

Ps please don't ask where I live. I'm not American, and I don't want this turning into a weird interrogation about my country or culture. I'm just here to process the fact that this man sat across from me and casually gave me his racism origin story like we were discussing his favorite childhood cartoon

Hair, Skincare, & Beauty Help! Skincare advice

Iโ€™ve been trying this new perfume/oil and I usually put a bit on my chest, wrists and a bit near my ears, Iโ€™ve never had this happen before (I use this brand a lot) but it seems Iโ€™m having a reaction to the oil. Iโ€™ve developed a rash only on my chest area and near my ears and itโ€™s driving me crazy looking at it ๐Ÿ˜ซ.

After searching online, I believe it might be Contact Dermatitis. Does anyone have any recommendations on what I can use to clear it up? (Yes I am no longer using the perfume/oil)

I will attach a pic in the comments if I can!

Discussion Hot take: I hate forced representation in Disney movies as a black girl, please read everything,

Like making Disney characters black, I didn't ask for it, I can bet that like 60% or more people like me didn't ask for it. Y'all can't even shame me for this one, I'm black too. Well brown but still, not the light brown where I literally look white, just normal light brown. But back to the point, I literally hate it, it's pathetic too. Another thing, I hate forced LGBTQIA representation in Disney, when they make a character like that, they make their sexuality their whole thing, I don't see them doing that for a straight character. Like, being gay is just what type of person your attracted to irl, but no, Disney has to exaggerate it and make them hold hands 24/7, no sane irl person holds hands with someone that often. It's like they're trying to force us viewers to know that they support the LGBTQIA. I dunno how to describe this off feeling where they're just making a character for their attraction towards a specific gender. Example, the little mermaid 2023, they removed scenes to make Ariel look like the brave hero, something just seems off. It wasn't even the right hair color. Strange world, 2022. In the film, Ethanโ€™s crush on Diazo is completely, unconditionally celebrated by every adult around him. While intended to portray a supportive family, critics and audiences noted that treating a teenage romance as entirely flawless and without any typical teen awkwardness or friction makes it feel hollow and unrealistic. Luz and Amity went from a brilliant, complex "enemies-to-friends" dynamic in Season 1 to a couple that felt like they were perpetually locked in a honeymoon phase.
