Is running tires slightly wider than the mudguards bad?

Hi everyone!
I'm in the market for new tires, I'd like to go as wide as possible. My fender is 48mm wide and the tires I'm eyeing are 50mm wide. Is this going to cause water to splash all over the place or will I be fine?

I can also choose 47mm wide tires, but I'm thinking of risking it in hopes of manufacturer over reporting, because my current ones are 42mm on the sidewall, but are 38mm in reality.

Help picking a bike

I want to get into bike commuting. I have about a 4 mile commute on paved services. I cant decide on a bike. The local bike store recommended one for $675. Is it worth it for a good quality bike of is one for $150 off of facebook marketplace going to be fine for a short commute?

What are people’s thoughts on folding bikes? I’d love something I can toss in my trunk but are they reliable?

Tools and methods to prevent pinching tubes when replacing or fixing?

I've been getting fucked this whole week replacing tubes and having to spend 20-40 a day for ubers.

I have tight tires, surly extraterrestrials and the last portion is super tight and I need to use a tire lever to fit it, and I've been pinching it every time.

Lets you choose your city, filter by minimum temps and maximum rain and snow.

The takeaway: You can probably bike comfortably more days than most people think.

He's from Canada and thinking about winter, so he forgot to put a maximum temperature filter.

My province is ripping up bikelanes and preventing new ones from being built. I decided to quietly protest by getting a new commuter bike. (NBD!)

So as my form of protest to the bike lane removal saga and Anti-Bike Lane/Pro-Car Legislation created by the province, I decided to treat myself and buy/build up a new commuter for myself.

I want to thank this sub, r/bikewrench , and r/bicycling for the help in making some of the decisions.

This sub helped a ton with the panniers, and general info on options like fenders! Bikewrench helped with some more niche items (Velox rim tape for example.) I spent most of this year building up my own endurance, practicing navigating to my workplace on the weekends, biking either in the morning or in the afternoon on weekdays, to the point where the 20k ride to work is nothing. I think I am in quite good shape compared to where I used to be. I also enjoy having a laugh as I swoosh by stopped traffic on my way home, and the bike rides on the weekend all summer and fall have made me generally just happier all around.

I'm pretty pleased with the end result for the bike. Trek FX Sport in Aluminum (as I am budget conscious and this is a commuter), Trek Fenders and MIK rack, Ortlieb Sport Rollers, Topeak aero saddlebag + Amazon special frame bag (for when I am riding without the Ortliebs but still want a spare tube and basic maintenance kit), a bell, a Giant HL800 light for when it is a little dark out, Trek Line Elite pedals, a nice contrasting water bottle, and a specialized water bottle holder (because I like the design). Also, a kickstand because of this thread.

Feel free to 🔥roast🔥 my setup 😄.

Bike Commuter Problems

They put up these awful security checkpoints at the universal studios pedestrian mall, so today when the protracted examination of my pockets' contents came to the keychain capsule containiny the screws for my Pitstoppers, i found myself at a real loss trying to articulate their purpose to a rent-a-cop.
