Advice Has anyone sought an independent OB/MFM review after a traumatic delivery?

• Upvotes

I’m almost 7 months postpartum and still trying to make sense of my traumatic birth experience. I was up for hours last night reading my medical records.

I had a high-risk pregnancy due to type 2 diabetes and gestational hypertension (developed at 36 weeks), along with a baby whose head circumference measured above the 99th percentile. I had expressed concerns about attempting a vaginal delivery and discussed the possibility of an elective C-section, but ultimately proceeded with an induction at 37 weeks as per my Doctor’s advice.

After a prolonged induction, I developed chorioamnionitis and fetal tachycardia. I eventually reached full dilation and began pushing, but there was minimal fetal descent. My baby's heart rate then dropped into the 60s, resulting in an emergency C-section. During surgery, his head was found to be deeply engaged and asynclitic.

My son was born with Apgar scores of 1, 3, 3, and 3, required extensive resuscitation and intubation, and underwent therapeutic hypothermia in the NICU due to concerns about hypoxic injury.

Thankfully, he's doing well now, but after reviewing my medical records, I have lingering questions about the management of my labor, the timing of the C-section, and whether an earlier intervention might have changed the outcome.

I'm not looking for Reddit to determine whether anything was done wrong, nor am I currently pursuing legal action. I would simply like an independent medical review to better understand what happened and whether the decisions made were appropriate.

Has anyone successfully arranged a retrospective birth review with an OB or maternal-fetal medicine specialist outside their delivering hospital?

I'm in California but open to virtual consultations. I'd really appreciate any recommendations or experiences.

Relationship Sex still isn’t good one year pp

• Upvotes

Almost one year postpartum and sex still isn’t what it used to be. I’m not necessarily having trouble with arousal. Mentally, I want to have sex. I miss being easily aroused and sex feeling amazing. But it truly doesn’t feel like much of anything now. I have to work hard to be able to finish and even then, the orgasm is mid. I rarely get the “spontaneous desire” anymore. Lubrication is not an issue at all, so it’s not like I’m feeling any discomfort. It’s genuinely just that I can’t feel much of anything. I am already a SAHM so I don’t really have anything to look forward to like a job I can go to or an event I can attend and I want sex to be something I can look forward to, but it’s just not anymore.

Does anyone have any recommendations? Is there a way to bring back sensitivity?

i have always been skinny before getting pregnant. i found it hard to gain weight by and was an xxs in everything. most adult clothes wouldn’t fit me. i wasn’t like underweight, i was just small and super short.

now that my body has changed and i am still 20 pounds away from my pre baby weight, i find myself having a hard time with food. and before you guys say anything, 20 pounds isn’t a lot but it looks like a lot on a small person. i am definitely bigger. none of my clothes fit. i feel so big now.

i’ve been struggling with restricting myself from foods, counting calories before eating everything, and then binge on foods when i restrict myself for a while. i also have the urge to make myself throw up after eating but having done it. it’s just the loudest voice in my head telling me i shouldn’t have eaten that and i feel so guilty.

i know bodies are supposed to change after giving birth. but i miss my old body. i miss not feeling insecure of my body and the way it carries this new weight. i’ve tried working out and just feel stuck. i will stick with going to the gym for a while and then just become so burnt out in motherhood that i don’t have the energy to do anything. so i just get stuck in this cycle of hating my body, working out, counting calories, restricting foods, binge out, and do it all over again.

Discussion My husband and I desperately need a getaway, but I feel guilty leaving our toddler

• Upvotes

My husband and I are planning a little weekend getaway next fall, about three months after our son turns 2. I’m so excited about it, but at the same time, I feel incredibly guilty and nervous about leaving him behind.

We’d be leaving Friday afternoon and coming back Monday morning, and the place we’re staying is only about a 2–3 hour drive from home. Our son would be staying with his grandma, who he’s seen pretty much every day since he was born. His grandparents are amazing with him, and he absolutely adores them. Honestly, it would probably feel like a little vacation for him too. 😂

My husband and I have been in survival mode for so long. We repeat the same routine every single day, and by the time we finally get an hour to ourselves before bed, one of us usually ends up falling asleep halfway through it.
I really miss having uninterrupted time with my husband, just being a couple and enjoying each other’s company without constantly being in parent mode. I know we need this, and I know our son would be in loving, capable hands, but the thought of being away from him for three nights makes my heart hurt a little.

I’m really trying to learn how to loosen my grip a little and remind myself that it’s okay to do something fun for ourselves without feeling guilty about it. Have any of you gone on a trip without your kids? How old were they when you first went, and how did you feel about it? Did you end up enjoying yourselves, or were you missing your little ones the entire time?

Advice Wanting to change my sons entire name

My (31F) sons(23 month male) dad(36M) and I were never married. He’s on the birth certificate. He hurt my son when he was 7 months old. Since June of 2025 I’ve had an active cps case. I have full custody. Supervised visits are in place.he was charged and pled guilty to a misdemeanor. My son is name after his father even tho we(my mom and I) have always called him a shortened version of his name.

For context I wanted to name him different name at birth however, I was convinced by his dad and a friend of his to let my son‘s dad name him after him. now whenever I hear his legal name all I think about is that he is associated with his father and genuinely I don’t want that. his father and I do not coparent he contributes no money towards our son. His life is a mess and I just don’t want my son associated with that. since my son and I moved back into my mom‘s house, My mom and i have thought about changing his name. Sometimes I have a lot of guilt over this and I feel like what if my son doesn’t like me when he’s older because I changed his name. I just don’t know if I can hear him being called by his legal name for the rest of his life. I guess I’m just asking what everyone in here would think if I changed his name. he isn’t going to start preschool for two more years, and I have heard from other parents who have changed their children’s names that it is best to do so before he starts school.

Advice 10 week old constantly wanting to eat

• Upvotes

Hi all. I’m 24 first time mom to my baby boy.
I am a stay at home mom for now, so we spend all day together. I’m struggling with the fact that everytime my baby is with me, unless he has just eaten for a long time, refuses to be content and settled in my arms/ on me because he gets so frustrated and tries to eat constantly. He is not like this for other people, his dad, obv because he knows we eat together lol. My problem is, his dad is faulting me for this. He can’t understand how hard it is to spend all day dealing with that struggle. It’s really overwhelming and I guess I’m just wondering if anyone has any advice for dealing with this. I don’t know how to explain to him that I struggle to get him down throughout the day or do anything besides sit and breastfeed. We do a walk and he is able to get maybe 20 mins independent time if I get lucky and can set him down. He falls asleep sometimes on me, but won’t stay asleep. His dad says all we do all day is sit and eat, so that’s why he won’t fall asleep for a nap in the evening when he gets home for work.

I went back to work for just one day to help my boss out with a shift and he says that he was able to get a million things done around the house in the time I was away and can’t imagine how I struggle everyday and asks why I “still can’t figure this out”. It’s really disheartening for me. I honestly don’t have a problem with the way we spend our day, sure it’s frustrating that I can’t get him down for a nap outside of after he feeds on my chest, but I don’t mind doing it as I love that way of bonding with him. I guess if anyone else deals with this, I could use some reassurance or advice so I don’t feel so alone or like I truly am failing and I don’t know why I still can’t figure it out either :’)

Rant/Rave Christmas with a newborn and difficult MIL

Difficult to make this short however all of our family live a couple of hours from us and every single one of them are in a different area to each other. Our baby is due end of November. Other half has 2 siblings and a difficult mother.

MIL has always been high maintenance at Christmas time and still wants all of her 3 children together at some point over Christmas despite us all living far away from each other. However we do always tend to find a date to meet somewhere even if it’s not on the day, so she can have all of her children together. She also insists on going OTT on presents which has passed on to her daughter (SIL) being the same way, so Christmas gets a bit ridiculous with his side of the family and stupid amounts of money are spent.

I made it clear in August we are willing to host only my mum and his mum this Christmas and we won’t be travelling anywhere due to having a newborn. MIL had a meltdown saying how could she pick between her children at Christmas and I said that’s on her but we’re going nowhere and we’re not hosting any more people than that.

I’ve just suggested in family group chat that this year we do a secret Santa instead as I don’t want to be doing Christmas shopping for everyone this year and makes it a bit easier on us. MIL has outright refused saying she can’t possibly not shower everyone with gifts and whilst she doesn’t expect gifts in return, she only wants us all to be around the table together at least once over Christmas (despite me saying we won’t be travelling with a newborn and I won’t be hosting other half’s siblings and their partners, I’ll only host our mums). I’m happy for them to travel to see us at different times but I know I won’t be able to face a full house of all of them a few weeks after birth.

I am RILED by her response, whether this is pregnancy hormones or a genuine response I don’t know. What’s annoyed me more is my other half just doesn’t have the bollocks to say anything to his mum and said he feels caught in the middle. I said for once this year he should be on my side, considering every year we pander to his mum and her OTT Christmas ways and silly gift giving, and the fact that this year I’ll be recovering from a c-section with a newborn.

What have others done in the past in terms of managing family over Christmas with a newborn / how do they plan to manage it this year? What did you do about presents for all the family? I’m just so miserable at this point I don’t want to be Christmas shopping now but I also don’t want to do it when I have a new baby.

In crisis 3.5 month old high probability of CP

My son was born at 37w1d after I was diagnosed with gestational hypertension. They attempted an induction but he started having deceleration of his heart rate. The doctor tried to do vacuum assisted delivery twice but that failed too. We ended up with a c section. He was crying when he came out but then stopped breathing. He didn’t breathe for \\\~3 minutes before coming around. Initial APGAR 3, repeat was 9.

Turns out, he sustained 2 skull fractures and 2 areas of bleeding in his brain. None of it required any intervention, thankfully. He was in the NICU for almost a week. He had a repeat MRI at 3 months which was normal, no bleeding or signs of brain damage. His pediatrician warned us that he might have developmental issues but no one could be sure.

We were just starting to feel okay. He’s such a happy guy. Smiling, starting to giggle. He holds his head up like a champ, is reaching for things. He recognizes his family and squeals to get our attention. We were so happy, he seemed to be developing just fine.

Then we had an appt with a developmental pediatrician. They did a GMA video looking for fidgety movements, and told us he didn’t have them. Then they did a HINE test and he only scored a 49. Both of these things equal high probability for CP.

The PT we saw told us he “doesn’t meet” for needing early retirement intervention. That made absolutely no sense to me. I know that the earlier you get PT/OT involved, the better the outcomes. So I called and signed him up for EI myself. They haven’t come to do an eval yet.

But now that my husband and I are really looking (and we’re both medical providers), we are noticing some signs…. He can’t raise his right arm above his shoulder. We can’t get it to raise up either. His left arm is just fine. His legs are externally rotated outward and the muscles are very tight. We can’t lift his legs up very far.

I am convinced that the diagnosis is correct and I am absolutely spiraling. I KNOW that CP has a very wide range of severity. But as a mom, I can’t help but think the worst case. I KNOW that people with disabilities can live full and happy lives, but I can’t help but be scared that my son won’t be able to. I am terrified afraid he will be in pain. I am terrified he will never walk. I am terrified that he will have epilepsy or some severe intellectual disability, too. Being in the medical field, I see the worst. I see how adults with severe disabilities can end up in group homes and be poorly cared for after their parents die or can no longer care for them. I am scared that even if I’m able to take full and great care of him, that when I die he will be left to live in a home and be mistreated if he ends up not being able to care for himself due to severity of disability. I’m afraid that this stress is going to ruin my marriage. A selfish part of me is afraid that now I won’t be able to live the life I had planned for myself.

I am fucking terrified.

I haven’t slept in 2 days. I can’t think of anything else. I just wanted a baby. And now I feel like because of the birth trauma and me not being able to get him out, I have all but guaranteed that he will end up with struggles and hardships and pain.

I am not cut out for this.

I’m not looking for medical advice. I just need to vent.

Baby Sleep - all input welcomed Baby transfers fine but won't stay asleep

Curious how other people have dealt with this!

My second baby is almost 4 months old. My first was a bad sleeper but in the usual way, he would wake up as soon as he was transferred and it was a long process to get him into a deep enough sleep to stay asleep, but once he was there he would give like 2 to 3 hour stretches. My new baby is different, she falls asleep with some cuddles, rocking and her soother, and I can transfer her pretty easily. But she only lasts, like, 20 or 30 minutes before she's up again needing to be resettled. It's making evenings so difficult, I can't help put my toddler to bed or do dishes or even eat dinner sometimes because I'm constantly going to put her back down. My husband picks up the slack but still, I hate it lol. Did anyone else have a baby like this? Did anything help? Did they just grow out of it?

Advice I barely read to my baby

I'm a single mom to a 7 month old boy. He's my entire world. I play and talk to him everyday. However I have struggled severely with PPA and PPD. I feel like it's maybe finally getting a little bit better day by day. But I realized that in these last 7 months, I have barely read to my baby. He coos a lot but doesn't babble with 2 letter words like ma, da, ba. Anything like that. Have I messed it up for him? I feel like I failed him. I plan to make an effort to try and read everyday to him now but I feel horrible. Has anyone else barely read to their baby and they reached their vocal milestones? I talk to him all day every day so I'm hoping that would have helped but idk anymore 😭

Edited to say thank y'all for easing my worries! I guess my PPA is still as strong as ever 😅

Baby Sleep - all input welcomed How long has everyone contact napped?

• Upvotes

I have 2 kids (20 month old and 2 month old). With my first I sleep trained her and just looking back at the experience, I just don’t think I want to do that again with my second (pls don’t judge, I was a ftm and exhausted). She sleeps great now, sleeps through the night and takes 1 nap. I contact napped with her up until 6 months when I sleep trained her and even then it still didn’t really work. But now I have my 2 month old who sleeps great at night but requires to be held during her naps. I feel like it’s quite impossible to contact nap with a toddler unless I put her in front of the tv or go out and have a stroller/carrier nap. But I just can’t do that for all naps. Idk, I guess I’m just feeling maybe a little hopeless and imagining contact napping for a year or even more. I’m of course doing at least one nap in the crib/bassinet per day but it fails after 5 minutes. And yes, I know I’m still early in the development of sleep but I guess I just want some other insight on what it looked like for everyone else. How long did you contact nap for? And if you didn’t sleep train, how did they eventually nap in the crib?

Birth Story Feeling disappointed in myself, why?!

I’ll start this by saying I am so incredibly happy that my daughter arrived safely 2 weeks ago. Last year I experienced two losses so just having her here feels like a miracle!

I laboured for 8 hours at home (no sleep) before we went to the hospital, to find out I was only 1cm dilated. Went back home for 6 more hours until it was unbearable (contractions were less than 5 minutes apart) and was 4cm. We had to wait an hour for a room, I just remember leaning on the wall and moaning the entire time.

Got to a room, forgot all of coping skills I had practiced, used laughing gas and moaning until I could get an epidural about 4 hours later. My contractions had no breaks in between - one would fade and immediately start back up again, and I was having back labour.

About 24 hours in, I was only 5cm dilated, and baby’s heart rate kept dipping after each contraction. My midwife said she wasn’t worried yet, but that baby seemed to be getting tired and stressed.

I told her that if an emergency c-section was a possibility, that I just wanted to opt for one before it became an emergency. 27 hours after labour started, our daughter was born via c-section!

I‘m so happy she’s here. I don’t know why I feel so disappointed in myself, like I was weak the entire time and tried to “get out“ of the hard parts. I had a very flexible birth plan, knowing that labour often doesn’t go the way people think it will.

Did anyone else deal with this feeling? 😅

Sad Venting. Spouse has the "C" word

We just found out yesterday that my husband has cancer. Out of all the cancers, I guess you could say its one of the luckier ones to get and he is expected to survive but the next few months or so are going to be very hard for our family and we dont know how long treatment will take or how he will be left feeling physically and mentally after it all. He just turned 28 2 weeks ago. He has his first surgery next week and we are in the US and he's new at his job (started mid august) and doesnt have PTO to cover his recovery or any other treatments he will need after. We have a 2 year old and an 8 month old and hes our sole income since I don't work. I think its finally starting to hit me that he has cancer. he has been so calm through all the doctors visits this far except last night he started showing how upset he is and I wish I could take away all his pain. Thank you for listening. I would love to hear from other young families that went through similar experiences or recommendations to subreddits that talk more about this type of thing. thank you again

Advice 4mo struggling with feeding, persistent diarrhea, and severe stomach pain despite normal tests. Has anyone experienced this?

• Upvotes

I'm writing in the hope of finding other mothers who have been through something similar, because I genuinely don't know what to do anymore.

I have a baby boy who is just over 4 months old and EBF. Our feeding problems started on August 23rd. He went through a nursing strike that lasted over 40 days. Between September 13th and October 13th, he gained only 460-500 grams.

Eventually, he started feeding again, but his nursing sessions are shorter, and the problems are still ongoing, especially in the evenings.

Sometimes he starts nursing completely normally, but then suddenly stops, arches his back, his tummy starts making very loud gurgling noises, and he begins crying uncontrollably. He refuses to continue nursing, won't latch onto the breast again, and nothing seems to calm him down. I've even tried offering him a bottle of expressed breast milk, but he refuses that too.

On top of everything, he continues to have diarrhea, and we still don't know why.

We visited a pediatric gastroenterologist and had stool tests done, but according to the doctors, the results were normal and there was nothing concerning. We had another appointment on October 8th. Following medical advice, I eliminated dairy products from my diet due to a suspected CMPA.

I've been following this diet for about a week now, but so far there has been no change in his stools, and the painful episodes during feeding continue.

Ever since he was born, I had oatmeal for breakfast every single morning. At some point, I started wondering whether something in my diet might be affecting him, so I decided to stop eating oats. I haven't eaten them for two weeks now, and since then, I've noticed a change in his bowel movements. He used to poop twice a day, but now he only poops every other day. According to the doctors, there's no connection between the two, but I find it interesting that the change happened immediately after I stopped eating oats. I'm not saying they're the cause; I'm simply trying to figure out whether there might be a connection.

During our appointment with the gastroenterologist, we were also prescribed Degasin, which I've been giving him as instructed. However, for the past three evenings, the same thing has happened again. While I'm breastfeeding him, his tummy starts gurgling extremely loudly, he arches his back, and starts screaming in pain.

Today, I contacted the professor again, and she recommended adding Colief and Nani Bel drops as well. So, according to the current recommendations, I'm supposed to give him Degasin, Nani Bel, and Colief before every feeding.

These are all drops intended to help with colic, and we've already tried them separately. Each one seems to work for a couple of days, but then it stops helping, and we're right back where we started. At this point, I feel like I'm essentially giving him the same type of medication three times under different names. What frustrates me the most is that no one seems genuinely interested in finding out what's actually causing his stomach pain. Instead, we just keep getting prescribed more and more medications without addressing the underlying problem.

However, I'm concerned about the amount of "medication" I'm supposed to give such a young baby. I feel like I'm practically feeding him drops instead of breast milk at this point. I don't want to keep adding more and more things without actually figuring out what's causing the problem in the first place.

To make matters worse, he's currently sick with the virus that's been going around, and he's also taking other prescribed drops for his runny nose. All of this makes me even more worried about the number of different things he's being given.

I really want to continue breastfeeding him until he's at least six months old. However, if we can't figure out whether something in my diet is affecting him and his condition doesn't improve, I'm starting to consider switching to formula. Not because I want to stop breastfeeding, but because I just want my baby to be able to feed peacefully and without pain.

So, I'd really like to ask:

- Have any of you had babies with similar symptoms — extremely loud tummy gurgling, arching their backs, uncontrollable crying, and refusing to breastfeed during feeding sessions?

- Has anyone experienced prolonged diarrhea in an exclusively breastfed baby despite normal test results?

- Did it turn out to be CMPA or an intolerance to something else in your diet?

- Has anyone noticed changes in their baby's bowel movements or digestion after eliminating oats from their diet?

- If you eliminated dairy, how long did it take before you noticed an improvement?

- Has anyone's baby been prescribed Degasin, Colief, and Nani Bel at the same time?

- What eventually helped your babies?

I'm not looking for an internet diagnosis, and I understand that every baby is different. I simply want to hear real experiences from mothers who have been through something similar, because I'm honestly starting to feel helpless. It's heartbreaking to watch my baby suffer without knowing how to help him.

Thank you so much in advance to everyone who takes the time to share their experience! ❤️

TL;DR: My EBF 4mo has been struggling with feeding since August 23rd, including a 40+ day nursing strike, poor weight gain (460-500g in a month), persistent diarrhea, and episodes of severe stomach pain during feeds. He suddenly arches his back, his stomach gurgles loudly, and he screams inconsolably while refusing both breast and bottle. Stool tests came back normal. I've eliminated dairy due to suspected CMPA and stopped eating oats, which seemed to change his bowel movements. We've tried several colic drops separately, but they only help for a few days before becoming ineffective. Now we're being told to give three different colic treatments before every feed, without a clear explanation for what's causing his pain. I'm desperate to find the underlying cause rather than keep adding medications. Has anyone experienced anything similar? What turned out to be the problem, and what actually helped?

Rant/Rave Am I a bad person for not wanting people over 70 to walk around with my baby?

I know this is a difficult one because it really depends on the person’s health etc.
But MIL has issues even holding him while sitting down. Like he’s just trying to get out of her arms and kind husband often has to help adjust him etc. I’m just extremely nervous that he could get dropped but she’s extremely offended by this. That she can’t walk around with him.
I feel like with people who are older I’m just always a bit more scared.

Postpartum Recovery Belly bands POSTpartum - Myth or worth it? Recs?

• Upvotes

I've heard that belly bands can help your organs (abs specifically) sort of "find each other" a bit quicker and heal a little tighter. I take this with a grain of salt because I feel like at the end of the day, the body is going to do what the body wants to do.

However to those of you who wore these postpartum strictly for this reason (not for cosmetic purposes how you'd wear shapewear, not that there's anything wrong with that, but) did you notice any change worth noting? Did it feel worth it?

If so, any brand recommendations?

Baby Sleep - supportive/no cry suggestions only Baby was in my armpit

He fell asleep, likes to roll into me like c curl into me. I wasn’t paying attention and figured he was comfy and realized he was in my arm pit crevice while I watching tv. I quickly moved him, wasn’t blue or not breathing. But he’s a deep sleeper once he’s goes to bed so he didn’t wake up when I tried to a little. He’s breathing fine and very relaxed but Jesus. He gasped when I moved him which freaked me out. I feel fucking terrible. I have an appointment tomorrow anyway but still. I can’t tell if he’s okay because he’s sound asleep. He likes to sleep on his side and I always move him when we go to bed and when I wake in the night but wtf. He’s done this a few times but every time I get super worried. Anyone else have a baby who likes to smoosh their face?

Happy! guilt and relief (SAHM)

today was my last day at work. we tried to both work remotely while watching my LO but to no one’s surprise it was impossible lol. we thought we’d be the magic ones who could do it 😂

i feel so much relief but also slight anxiety and guilt. we used my health insurance so we need to go find our own (my husband is contract). my husband is fully supportive of me quitting and encouraged me to do so, but i can’t help but feel slightly guilty? did anyone else feel this way?

so thankful to my husband for allowing me to be a SAHM!! it’s been my dream. my baby will only be this age once and i’m grateful to spend it with them even if it means cutting back on fun spending a little.

Tips & Tricks Quitting Nicotine help

TLDR: trying to quit nicotine without causing marital dispute

Hi all, I am just over a year pp, and I got re-hooked on nicotine right after I finished nursing my baby around 4 months (wanted to go longer, but had my own health issues that took priority). Well, I’m ready to quit. It’s expensive, I’m terrified baby will get ahold of it, and I’ve started having chest pains from it.

The issue is, my husband is addicted too. From many years of trying to quit (and a few years of successful quitting), I know that I CANNOT quit if it’s in the house. I’ll ask for it, throw fits, and generally be insane if it’s still in the house. If it’s out of the house, u don’t care at all. My husband wants to quit too, but isn’t quite ready.

Last time we quit, I told him to pick a day to quit, but I wanted to be done by the new year. He agreed, and told me he’d let me know. Well, the new year came around and I told him I couldn’t quit without him, so please let’s quit now. He agreed, but I didn’t know he held resentment over it. So it became a massive fight over a year later.

I told him today that i don’t care when he quits for good, but i need to quit for my own sanity and health. I can’t have it in the house or I’ll never quit, but I told him that’s my only ask. I know from experience how it’s goes and I really am ready to be done. I told him I’m fine with him quitting on his own timeline, but I can’t wait forever when it’s making me feel physically worse.

He told me that saying keep it out of the house is essentially forcing him to quit, and was a little irritated at me. I apologized, asked for his ideas, and let him k ie again that it’s just what I know about myself that I won’t be able to and need to.

Any advice? Ideas? Ways to avoid the same thing happening as last time? I’m horribly addicted, but I need to be healthy and have a safe home for my baby.

(Adding we don’t do anything with smoke or vape, only the pouches. So thankfully no second hand smoke for baby, but fear him getting a pouch someday and am always on high alert)

Postpartum Recovery Period worse after baby?

I’m 12 weeks pp and got my first period back 8 weeks pp and it was AWFUL. My periods had always been painless and almost no PMS except some moodiness and only lasting 3 days. I can feel my second period coming soon, I’m feeling cramps that feel like early labour and I’m absolutely ravenous about food (specifically chocolate). I feel like I have the cliche period now, it lasts a week and it’s heavy and painful and the PMS is wicked.
Did anyone else have this happen? Any insight on if it ends?

Daycare LO headed to Daycare and Mat Leave Ending Soon

Hi!

I’m (FTM, 35) here looking to hear everyone’s experiences on going back to work and sending baby to day care. I think I need some reassurance to be honest, as I’m really struggling with this.

I’m in Canada and only took 1 year. I know we’re very blessed compared to many other places in being able to take that long! I’m now gutted and wish I could be off longer with my daughter but it’s not really a financial option for us (I don’t think). I don’t really have the option of working PT at my job and I worked really hard to build a good career all through my 20s/early 30s. I wanted to focus on myself until I had a baby (if we even did!) and make sure we’d be set up for success living in a very HCOL city.

I was convinced that I’d be ready to go back to work at 1 year. I loved work and having a full life. But now I’ve had her… it’s like my brain has radically reprioritized what is important. Obviously i knew this was going to happen to SOME extent but I am truly heartbroken that our year together is nearing the end and find myself dragging my feet on the daycare search. Which is also bad because it’s so hard to find a good place in our city so we need to be on top of it!

So working moms, tell me how you managed this transition, please 😭❤️ I’m truly struggling with this so deeply.

Ty!

Discussion Is starting purées at 4 months so bad?

We got the OK for purées. He’s 4 months old and pretty good with head control. We have a seat that sits him upright and he does fantastic in it. I’ve been feeding him a little bit of the purées and then I read, that pretty much everyone i’ve spoken to and asked, have waited until at least 6 months.

What did you do?
