Question I have free internet? I hope a backend dev reads this…

Ok this is gonna be a bit of a rabbit hole so bear with me…

I moved into my current residence back in July this year and decided to go with bell for internet since the upstairs landlord was with virgin. I have been a bell customer in the past and I still had access to myBell, when I called to get a service installed I asked if it was ok to use said myBell account and was told yes no problem.

Upon trying to connect this myBell to the new service I was met with some errors, clicking the link to connect would send me to the myBell app prompting a login… Then when I log in, I don’t see the service? Just my old one I cancelled a couple years ago… Ok so then I try doing it through the web… Now I get an error saying this service is already connected to a myBell account.

Clearly this account is now all sorts of screwed up, when I asked customer support I was told I would see the service on my app once I plugged in the modem. (It was very hard booking a tech without access to myBell, I’d have to message support each time I wanted a time update). Once the service was installed I once again checked myBell, since I haven’t even set up billing yet! Once again nothing, support says wait a week. Wait a week, nothing. Support says we’re down wait a day, wait a day, nothing. I’m getting a little frustrated at this point but eventually a support agent is able to get the problem escalated and someone manually adds the service to my myBell account, great! Set up billing and everything is all good. I do notice on the app it’s telling me to set up my new modem which is weird since it was already running. (This notification will never go away).

Everything seems to be working fine so I put it behind me… then a week later I get a phone call asking when I’d like to book a tech to install my modem??? When I tell them it’s already installed the agent just goes huh that’s weird and I hear nothing about it again. Fast forward a few months, and in September I get a letter in the mail for equipment return! My error here is I just chalk that up to my account being all screwed up and ignore it.

Fast forward 20 days or so and I’m checking myBell to make sure the bill got paid and I see… Service cancelled! Oh hell no, I call support and they say nothing they can do, time to return my equipment and re-setup another account. What?!?!? I then find out it got cancelled on September 8!!! Also, my internet is still working fine. And it still is to this day by the way. The support agent didn’t really seem to care, didn’t seem to want to escalate it, and just wanted me to hang up, return my equipment and be done with it. I told them hell no I’m just gonna keep using my internet that’s working fine, and it ended there.

I week after that I decide to phone customer service again, and it’s the same story, yeah yeah I know it’s cancelled but my internet is still working!!! Doesn’t that seem weird? I told them somebody will definitely want to hear about this and they said they’d start an investigation. It’s been two weeks and I haven’t heard anything back.

Which is why I’m posting here, people tell me I shouldn’t look a gift horse in the mouth and just accept I have free 3gig internet, but it still just kind of bothers me. Support agents just don’t want to deal with it, if nobody here can help me I’m gonna call one more time and then just keep using this until it stops or I move out again.

Question Upgrading through App order cancelled

I upgraded from iphone 14 pro to 18 pro through the app yesterday and got a extremely good deal IMO. Too good to be true almost. But it went through and the app says order received “confirming and processing” and I got confirmation email as well. Is it possible for them to cancel my order / not honour it? If so, what rights do i have?

Question Does Bell allow in-store modem exchange or not?

Had my modem die Wednesday night and called support first thing thursday morning for a replacement. Got told it would be delivered in 2-3 business days. Which sucks for me since I work from home.

But before I called I saw comments from people saying they were able to swap their dead modem in store. So I asked the rep on the phone about it and was told “they have never offered this service before” and I can only wait for it to be shipped through the post.

Except there’s comments from people saying they did the in-store exchange just THIS WEEK.

So I called again Thursday afternoon to try my luck with a different agent and was told the same thing..

So does Bell not allow in-store exchanges or what?

Mobility📱 Are we preordering, or attempting to buy in store?

I’m usually not one for release dates, but it just so happens I’m due for an upgrade on my 16 pro max with the device trade in, and the duo preorder starts tomorrow.

Will I have better luck with the preorder, or trying to find it in store when it’s out?

Rant Bell MTS mobility - Fraud

- I used to be an employee
- I had a cell phone in my name for a family member, even before Bell bought MTS (Manitoba telecom) in ~2019
- I quit and completed a transfer of ownership to the family member around 2020
- 6 months after that my family member called in about the cell phone and was told the cell is still under my name
- we once again followed the process and completed the transfer of ownership and was assured the cell phone was no longer in my name - I was irritated back then
- fast forward 5 years. That family member calls in about something and is told the cell phone is my name
- the “presidents office” rep is telling me they can complete the transfer, but only if they do a credit check on the family member… meanwhile this was all supposed to be done 5 years ago
- she gave me the option of cancelling or suspending the cell phone (since it’s still in my name) of the family member doesn’t want to do the credit check

This is 100% Bell MTS’s fault that there is a cell phone fraudulently under my name, but they refuse to switch it over unless a credit check is done… how does that make any sense. It’s not my family members fault - they probably did a credit check back then too. Ugh
