Community Identifying a record or seeing how much it's worth? Use DISCOGS.COM

https://www.discogs.com/

Some people have asked for a post like this to be stickied in the sub because we constantly get people asking what a record is worth or what version they have.

You need to match the matrix information. Which is the part of the record between the music/grooves and the label. There will be etched and/or stamped letters, symbols and numbers. You can just do a search for the artist and album name with the matrix info typed in. After searching, it should pull up all albums that match. If there’s more than one, you will have to figure out which it is by checking under the barcode and other identifiers section.

You also may need to look at info on the vinyl label and the sleeve. There will sometimes be additional info under the notes section.

Please check out r/discogs if you need more help searching but READ THEIR RULES.

They recorded on April 14, 1969 (2:30 PM to 9:00 PM), with mixing finished later that night. John and Paul played all the instruments on the track. Eleven takes were recorded, with take #10 used as the master. Overdubs were added the same day.

George was house-hunting, and Ringo was away filming The Magic Christian

Photo #6: John arranged to have a double bed brought in so that Yoko could rest comfortably while recovering from a car accident in Scotland

The single was released on May 30, 1969, as a non-album single, becoming the Beatles' 17th UK #1 hit and charted #8 in the U.S.

Discussion When the Canadian band Klaatu released their debut album in 1977, there were no names, pictures of the band members, or production credits. This led American audiences to speculate that Klaatu was a clandestine reunion of the Beatles. Any love for Klaatu?

Discussion When did Lennon stop Using the harmonica and why?

Post image
135 Upvotes

My first immediate thought is when Dylan chewed him out over the similarities to his style in "Norwegian Wood - This Bird has Flown" (1965) and after giving the band pot, encouraging Lennon to really grow his styles and individuality

You hear SO MUCH harmonica on Lennon throughout Tracks like "One after 909" (1963) & Most of Please Please Me (1963) "With The Beatles" (1963) & "A Hard Days Night" (1964)

Obviously general Musical styles will evolve and change but what's the last examples that people think of? i certainly can't imagine any after Sgt Pepper in my head but maybe I'm missing some super obvious Examples!

I am a fan of their early albums and this is one of my favorite albums, so I am curious what does everyone think about this album?

Personally, I like their songs “I Saw Her Standing There”, “Twist And Shout”, “Boys”, “Love Me Do”, “Please Please Me” and “P.S I Love You”.

Other My Beatles Liverpool day

Today I visited Liverpool and first went on the Magical Mystery Tour bus round some of the main Beatle landmarks in the city. This evening I rounded the day off by watching 'The Beatles Complete' tribute band play the Cavern Club.

Next time I'm going to book for the National Trust tours of the Homes.

What an amazing day it's been. I just wanted to share how great it was.

While he was quick to point out that Mendes’s reply assured him that this was simply down to their respective strides in the shot, even going as far as sending another one that showed them both equally tall, you can understand his dismay here. By his own admission, McCartney is still sore about 2009’s Nowhere Boy, which depicted him as Lennon’s slighter and weedier sidekick

Discussion Does anyone here remember the night John Lennon was shot?

I remember going to NYC back in the summer of 2001 and then again in 2009 and standing at the front entrance of the Dakota building and then going to the Strawberry Fields memorial in Central Park.

It was an emotional moment for me since I'd been listening to the Beatles since I was 11 or 12 and I was 24 the first time I went there.

I don't remember John Lennon being shot because I turned 4 years old that year, so I am curious what some of you who were old enough at the time remember from that day.

Thanks.

Opinion I love the new rubber soul mix

I don’t know what’s yall’s opinion but personally it’s amazing. I hated how everything was hard panned I think all that panning killed the dynamic of the songs, with this new mix everything sits just right, I love it! I had this exact reaction when the 2022 mix of Revolver came out, it was really well remixed but the 09’ mixes don’t bother me in Mystery Tour or Revolver because those albums are “weird” and those odd mixing choices match that psychedelic vibe. For example, I prefer the 09’ mix of “Tomorrow Never Knows” because it matches the experimental vibe of the song perfectly.
This new mix sounds fuller since the drums and the bass sit in the middle as I always wanted them to be, Macca’s bass sounds AMAZING too, they removed some low mids and that decision made the album feel even warmer. I also find funny that they kept some panning but changed it to the other side like in “Girl”, the acoustic guitar is panned left in the 09’ mix but in the 2026 one is panned to the right. I think “If I Needed Someone” was the best IMO since I can’t really enjoy it as much with all that panning but it’s perfect in this new mix. The thing with mixing is that it all comes down to personal taste, the mixing engineers liked it, I didn’t, but I know a lot of people like it too so it’s nice to have those two options (three with the monos)

Britain had (has) different plugs and sockets.

Did Mal Evans just do some soldering and rewiring or what?

Discussion I Want You (She's So Heavy) 2009 vs 2019... WOW

I'm a relatively new Beatles fan (only started listening to them around the beginning of this year, and I tend to listen to albums very slowly so nearly the entire first half of their career is unknown to me), and my favorite song so far has been I Want You (She's So Heavy).

The last genre I was obsessed with was metal, so naturally heavy songs like this one become my favorites. I was astonished by just how "heavier" the 2019 remix of the song is. It was my first experience listening to it, so when I listened to the 2009 remaster I was kind of disappointed from how much less of a "kick" it had.

What do most people think though? I heard most people kind of just have their preference, but they won't get upset if they hear the mix they're not accustomed to.

Opinion I didn't care for "Yesterday" (2019)

Doubt I'm saying anything new here. This film, like The Purge, should live in memory as one of those movies with a great premise that was completely botched in execution.

I suspect many have had daydreams about themselves being the creators of their favorite art, be it music or whatnot. It feels almost as though the script takes those daydreams directly and pastes them on the screen without even trying to shape them into a meaningful story. By the end [spoiler], he learns that it's wrong to plagiarize and it's good to profess his love for the girl of his dreams. That's about it.

Why couldn't this movie explore whether or not it was the music of the Beatles that was so popular, or the Beatles themselves? Could someone else, especially a solo artist, have made their music and been as big as they? Would their music have even been so popular if released originally in the twenty-first century? The movie doesn't properly contemplate such questions. Jack Malik passes off the Beatles' tunes as his own only to become seemingly *more* popular than even they were: the movies shows unfathomable crowds and the world standing still on account of him.
