Since the last post about this got deleted because it contained a X screenshot, hopefully this one actually stays for comment.

All the sports betting ads, ED ads, pharma ads, the Hegseth fascist military ads, the unhinged political ads, it’s all fucking enough already.

EDIT: I'm glad we can all agree on something, flairs notwithstanding.

It blows my mind that there are people out there who watch commercials without pressing mute. Mute is the second most important button on the remote, behind Power.

(Most of these are still pretty obnoxious even on mute, though.)

I do this when ads get repetitive and my brain can’t take them anymore. But normally, I use the sound as a signal when the game is back on. I’m doing something and listening for the commentators or other intro, as opposed to staring at the screen without sound or constantly looking up to see if it’s back on.

Yah, usually I can tune out the ads and look at my phone or use it for a bathroom break. But ads these games, oy vey

Sadly, when using an Apple TV, the only way to mute is the phone app remote or if you have a separate sound system and remote for that specifically. I even mute / ffwd the mid inning 2/3 screen ads but after a while I give up cause it’s exhausting to keep opening my phone app. But yeah, Muting is the way.

That is unhinged and sociopathic.

How the fuck did apple manage to make muting proprietary?

The Apple TV remote has a mute button. I’m not sure what that guy even means? You obviously have to set it up once to connect it to the TV/sound system but after that it works fine.

Eh, mine doesn’t but clearly others do:

They added it eventually, it’s likely just a design decision to keep the grid on the remote as minimal and simple as possible and feedback said that a mute button was less helpful than a…microphone/Siri button? Who knows.

Ah okay. I was staring at mine which does and didn’t think to look up the previous versions. Yeah, no mute is a weird choice.

What? The Apple TV remote absolutely has a mute button

Newer versions apparently do, but mine is like the two left options here. Fair point but it’s not worth an upgrade for my situation.

Usually I'll get up to take a dump or grab a beer or something, and I'll leave the volume on so I can hear when the game is starting back up

I started muting them and just reading in between innings, honestly getting a lot of reading done that way
