Players Only Dodgers' Alex Call blasts controversial Sydney Sweeney ad

https://www.thebiglead.com/dodgers-alex-call-sydney-sweeney-novig-commercial-soft-porn/

Since the last post about this got deleted because it contained a X screenshot, hopefully this one actually stays for comment.

I’m kinda with him even before I had a kid. It’s one of the reasons I kinda have watched and listened to mlb network less and less. Every 5 minutes you have to listen to a boner pill commercial, a gambling commercial or the stupid Navage commercial.

Not to mention the suspiciously-named Nugenix

….she’ll like it too 😉

I've started watching the games on a 40ish minute delay to skip the gambling and horror movie commercials and be able to sleep through the night.

A 40 minute delay is absolutely diabolical. I guarantee you have seen and forgotten worse ads from when you were a child. This is a non-issue besides the gambling stuff but that’s never changing, Pandora’s box is open

Regular season i usually watch on a lengthy delay just to avoid ads. Not because of the ads content, just figure that's a waste of my time i can cut out.

Tbh we barely watch regular season like if it's on it's on but it's kind of background until the last few weeks whereas literally every pitch matters in the playoffs.

Why even watch it live then ?

You’re missing out on actual game action and it’ll be spoiled by any of the 90 sports apps that we all have on our phones. This is the most absurd thing I’ve ever heard

Dude I have bad news for you if you can’t put your phone on silent and put it down for an extended period of time

u/Go_crazy21 St. Louis Cardinals 11h ago

I dont miss any of the action. I skip the ads and watch the whole game. I dont have any app on my phone that gives me notifications of game scores. Unless I actively go to reddit or something im not getting spoiled. Did this all year, never got spoiled.

This is the most absurd thing you’ve ever heard? Cmon man. Touch grass.

-14

u/Acrobatic_Ad1016 11h ago

Yes. I’ve never once heard an actual fan suggest watching live sports on an hour delay.

17

u/JoDiMaggio Los Angeles Dodgers 11h ago

Probably because people don’t like talking to you.

Typical dodgers fan, insulting people immediately

u/TexasReallyDoesSuck Major League Baseball 10h ago

lmao there are people that watch entire games a whole 8 hours later like when theyre on a work shift or somethin, & they record it. you live in an extreme bubble

-1

u/Acrobatic_Ad1016 10h ago

I live in a bubble because I don’t delay live sporting events ??

This isn’t 1960 anymore my guy. Very few jobs exist where you can’t at least partially follow the score of a game unless you’re performing emergency surgery. You guys are absolutely insane. I’ve seen stupid Reddit takes before but this is the dumbest.

8

u/TexasReallyDoesSuck Major League Baseball 10h ago

no because you cant believe others do, did you already forget the comments you left? lmao youre the idiot here

some people like to watch the games before knowing the score, even in 2026. again touch grass

The only one making absurd statements in this thread is you. It’s a crazy concept but other people have different thoughts, preferences, ideas, and desires than you do.

Grow up.

I don't have any sports apps on my phone and we are mainly watching it as a family so I'm not on reddit that much during games if at all.

You guys are hilarious here. You’re acting like watching live sports on massive delays is common and that you’ve never seen a commercial you didn’t like before.

We all have seen bad commercials and lived. I promise you, it’ll be ok. I’d much prefer we have zero commercials but that’s never going to happen so for now, you just have to accept it

5

u/Go_crazy21 St. Louis Cardinals 11h ago

Well, I can think of one way for you to watch the game with zero commercials.

u/redditlvlanalysis 8h ago

I also woke my parents up screaming multiple times I prefer to not to have to deal with that.

At least the miller commercials from the last few seasons didn't come back this year.

u/BropolloCreed Cleveland Guardians 11h ago

The boner ads are everywhere, but my teenage sons crack up at them, especially the ones on the radio for "natural male enhancement".

u/HartfordWhaler Cleveland Guardians 10h ago

Do you remember those crazy Enzyte ads from the early 2000s? They were always on during Sportscenter I feel like.

When you sail the high seas, you see way fewer ads

2

u/VarRalapo Toronto Blue Jays 7h ago

Too bad the talking heads in the broadcast just talk about gambling 24/7 so it's not like pirating really makes you avoid it anymore.

3

u/Artistic_Bit6866 Milwaukee Brewers 7h ago

Yeah, it’s totally integrated into all aspects of the presentation. At best, you can not see the ads during ad breaks. Not perfect, but better than nothing

0

u/twinklytennis Los Angeles Dodgers 7h ago

Sail the high seas with ad block *. Usually only the companies that will let their ads appear on these streaming sites are porn, crypto, and betting sites not located in the US. Otherwise, these sites are actually worse with the obnoxious ads.

1

u/Artistic_Bit6866 Milwaukee Brewers 7h ago

Agree. But I’ve heard there’s also lots of variation from stream to stream. There are some that only show pop ads when starting the stream.

u/RedSoxFan9876 Boston Red Sox 8h ago

Bro you can’t be out here dissing the Navage commercial like that!

1

u/Charming_Squirrel_13 5h ago

hey, those navage ads worked on me! legitimately so much better than neti pot or decongestants
