People gave the Dodgers shit for signing an unproven pitcher out of Japan to a $400M 12year deal. Boy, did those people get eggs on their faces now.

What crazy is that's not many games lol. Dodgers truly don't score runs when He's pitching
5
u/DDub04 Los Angeles Dodgers 8d ago
He’s made 86 starts (and one appearance in relief) in his career, thats 52 starts in which the dodgers scored 2 or fewer runs.
Since he joined the team the dodgers have averaged 5.07 runs per game in the regular season. Per statmuse, that average is 4.68 when Yamamoto is on the mound.
40
u/douchebaggery5000 Los Angeles Dodgers 8d ago
Their performance with us notwithstanding, throwing out tanner Scott and Edwin Diaz after Yamamoto is pretty crazy

Never really felt like we had a shot in that game with how their pitching shut down our bats.
28
u/ThatDude8129 Atlanta Braves 8d ago
I had a bad feeling about this game almost from the start. Sale being off his game and taking around 20 pitches to get through an inning really cemented it.
10
u/buzzmemello520 Atlanta Braves 8d ago
It's sad but the way the bats are going a 3 run lead feels insurmountable

In a Yamamoto-Sale game that was expected to be low scoring and tight, Acuna's 1st inning challenge in a low leverage situation was big. But Ohtani evened it up in the 5th in a similar low leverage lost challenge. It's the small things that can loom large. That's baseball and that's why it's fun.

Man...it was a talking point during the regular season about the difference between the AL and the NL, but it feels like the post-season is really highlighting it. The White Sox had the 1st inning collapse yesterday; the Guardians had the subsequent bigger collapse later on; the Yankees. Meanwhile watching both NLDS series, every pitch feels tense like it could blow open the game on either side.

gonna need some actual production from the top of the lineup for the Braves to stay alive.
Braves took 7 walks in Game 2 and just weren't working counts against Yoshi. i know he's insane, but he was throwing junk out of the zone all night, particularly his curveball. not sure he threw it for a strike once, yet our hitters just couldn't lay off.
Hopefully they can work more counts tomorrow and get to the Dodgers pen earlier.
Honestly, with the Dubie robbery of Freddie and the Dodgers leaving 20 guys on base, lucky it was only 3-1.
