At my kids high school people would like up like 2 hours early to pick their kids up. They have nothing else to do?!?

Well, what time is it? If it’s after 1:30 parking is allowed. Only for 15 minutes from 1:30-3:30, but after that good till the next day

The curve is not red before the sign. It's red AFTER the sign. If they would've parked before the sign you would be correct, but this isn't the case. Signs always apply when you are between the signs.

Parking control signs have single headed arrows if they refer only to the curb either before or after them. Both those signs apply to the entire curb, regardless of paint. Notice that the time periods don’t overlap either…

it's a red zone..

From 8:00 am to 1:30, then it’s only 15 minute parking from 1:30-3:30, I’m just reading the sign. Doesn’t say anything about not parking from 3:30-08:00. I understand there’s red on the curb, but I’m reading the actual sign

you can never park at a red zone

Except Saturday and Sunday, or any time that is listed on the bloody sign. Like it says ON THE SIGN. By the way, school zone starts up the block, where the school zone sign is. Enough of the internet for today

The sign IS FOR THE PARKING AFTER THE RED ZONE.....
The school is immediately to the side where I took the picture.. School zone parking is right here....

Those signs would have single-headed arrows on them if the curb before the red and the curb after the red were treated differently. The fact they have no arrows and the times do not overlap means they both refer to the entire stretch of curb regardless of paint.
Fun fact, you could park there (even at the red) from 3:30pm to 8:00am with no consequences.

You're welcome to try parking in a red zone. The fire department will break a window if needed. But hey, if you don't mind, feel free to park there

So would you park there on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays? Because those are treated just like the times from 3:30pm to 8:00am (uncontrolled parking).

u/dragonzsoul 1d ago
Nope. Because the sign is for the cars parked facing the sign. After the sign, the red zone means no parking any time.

It looks like OP spray painted the curb red. Is this really an issue if a parent is picking up their child after school? Sorry, just not what this sub is for

Lol when is it considered good parking to park illegally in a red zone?
12
u/Several_Razzmatazz51 1d ago
Never good parking to be there illegally. But there are 16.5 hours you can park there continuously and another 2 hours you can park there for 15 minutes. Just don’t park between 8:00am and 1:30pm.

red zones must have different rules in your area

Your photo literally has signs that say that 😂 Did you not even bother to read them?

u/Several_Razzmatazz51 1d ago
Well my experience has been that actual red zones also have a sign that says “No Parking Any Time” with an appropriate arrow designating the start / end of the no parking zone. Anyone with a can of paint can turn a curb red.

Because it might have grown up not able to read parking signs like so many people here?

Californians, what can you expect
3
u/TheClayDart 1d ago
Brother, this isn’t just a California problem. I’ve seen this crap all over GA and FL. School pick up lines and the parents that clog them up instead of having their kids ride the bus are the problem

u/TheSweeetness 1d ago
Sometimes there is no bus option. In my town due to the school budget not passing they cut busses unless you live more than 3 miles away. This is for 6-10 year olds, so they aren’t old enough to walk or bike alone either. So now there’s a ton of cars dropping their kids off all at the same time since there’s also only a 10 minute window to drop off. It’s dumb but that’s the world we live in…

I learned that in CA, as long as you turn on your hazards, you can park anywhere for however long you need. Especially in a school zone.
