I got my diagnosis 2 years ago at the age of 43. Just my thoughts:
It's OK to ask yourself, why everything is so difficult. But that only costs energy and you already know the answer.
I don't want to be a smart-ass, or another one telling you "Try harder".. but:
My breakthrough was to focus on the things, that prevent you from doing something; not the ones, that could eventually help you.
The hardest part to learn was, that it's not gonna happen, that Neurotypicals will ever fully understand what's going on in your Hyperspeeed-Brain.
My breakthrough was to focus on the things, that prevent you from doing something
Nothing prevents me from doing something aside from the lack of executive function though. There's nothing left to assess, that part of my brain just doesn't work.
