Are there really no kind people left in Harare?
I'm a lesbian (27) who has been single for almost 2 years.
I really took this time to heal, grow and reflect. I am okay now. I am not actively looking to date but if love finds me I am welcome to it.
My friends however have had it with me. I am an introvert so I don't go out at all so I cant just meet people out there. All my past relationships started online, be it a DM or a dating app. (Which I am okay with honestly.) So when my friends ask me what I did over the weekend I usually just say, "sleep, read, doomscrolled, music" this is the problem in their eyes. I have been single for so long because I stay indoors and don't go meet people and I don't reply to DMs or I ghost easily. One friend even said she is fasting for me. π
I don't think it's bad to be single and I don't think I'm lonely. I love my own company I find joy in my very boring hobbies and it brings me peace. I am no longer willing to settle and jeopardize it in the name of being boo'd up. So they asked me what my type is so that they can find me a match and I said:
KIND
SMART
EMOTIONALLY AVAILABLE
EMOTIONALLY INTELLIGENT
FUNNY
My friends said things like, "this is why you are still single, You think there are kind people in Harare" or "an emotionally available lesbian in 2026?" or "Oh so you are looking for the impossible?!"
But I am all these things (not sure about funny part but people laugh at my sentences from time to time.) How is it that we are all just gonna say these people don't exist anymore? I'm here!! Am I an anomally?
I am not willing to settle for anything less, these are my non negotiables. I am okay with being single forever if I can't find this. My friends say I am picky and have high standards but aren't these the literal pillars of a relationship?!
