Dosing How to know if I received my first dose correctly

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hello! Today I received my first injection of Zepbound 2.5. I had the nurse inject my first dose. I noticed the first time that she tried to inject it, it wouldn’t work and it wasn’t turned to 1 and then she tried it again. Is this how it should look if injected properly?

Miserable, congested, tired. I'm surprised I cant find this info on the lily website.

Tomorrow is shot day. I'm wondering if I should wait a day or 2 or just go on as usual?

Dosing Weight loss stalled then suddenly started again

I’ve been on Zepbound since Feb 2026 and moved to 5.0 around April. Starting weight was 247 and got down to 202. I weigh myself daily and focus more on my 7-day average to account for daily fluctuations.

I seemed to stall out at 202 and actually started to see my 7-day average increase so ordered 7.5, which I intended to start after finishing my remaining doses of 5.0. Before stalling, I was only losing about 0.4 to 0.5 lbs a week, which I’m ok with (I prefer to lose slowly to avoid losing muscle mass as much as possible).

Of course, as soon as I picked up the 7.5, I started losing weight again and am now down to 196. When I say I’m losing weight again, I’m talking >1lb per week.

I’m taking my last dose of 5.0 today and plan on starting 7.5 next week but am somewhat regretting the decision to move up.

Has anyone experienced stalled weight loss for ~3-4 weeks and then suddenly starting to lose weight fairly quickly again? Any advise on moving up even when I seem to be doing fine on 5.0?

Dosing Advice. Been at 2.5 since July.

Hi friends. Love this sub. I’ve been in 2.5 since July. I’ve lost about 25lbs since I started and am a frustrating 5lbs away from my goal weight and have stalled. I track calories and meals. I work out 3-4 days a week. I don’t really want to up the dose but what say you?

Diet/Health/Exercise Cholesterol went up??

Hi all!

45/F

SW: 187 lbs
CW: 142 lbs (!)
GW: 135 (SO CLOSE)

Last year, my doc told me I have high lipoprotein-A, which apparently is genetic and something I can't do jack shit about. My cholesterol last year (two months after I started Zep) was normal - LDL was 97, HDL was 78 or something like that. This year? LDL is the same but my HDL is 99! WTF?!

I had a calcium scan so I'm waiting for that result. But I'm SO pissed. How tf did cholesterol go up? I know it's the "good" cholesterol, but apparently with this genetic BS both levels need to be in the basement. I did read somewhere (forget where) that sometimes good cholesterol can go up after losing a lot of weight, and I googled and it said that can be the case -- but wanted to know if this happened to any of you.

I'm so close to maintenance I can taste it!

Personal Insights Weight not coming off after 4 months . . .

HELP!! I've been on Zepbound since early July, starting at the lowest dose and now getting ready to step up from 10mg. And I have dropped only 2 pounds. I have no appetite, eat very little, don't consume sugar, limit carbs, walk at least a mile a day with my dogs, and stay active otherwise. Has anyone else had issues losing weight on this stuff? I feel fine, and I have only about 25 pounds to lose, but it's not coming off. Any thoughts, tips, or suggestions? Thanks!!!

News/Information Kwikpen Preservatives

I’m looking for information on the preservatives used in the Kwikpen. I just switched and I see that some users are having reactions to it. Does anyone know what Lilly uses as a preservative? I’ve always used vials and now I’m having second thoughts about this switch. I’m sensitive to additives. No reaction so far.

Side Effects Pre-shot symptoms

This is a weird question and not sure how to describe it. Before your shot, does anyone get a weird sensation? Like a little nausea or feeling just a bit off? Sometimes a weird taste in the mouth just before my dosage. I've been on Zepbound for a year and half and it's still a thing and wondering if there is a name for it?

Side Effects Gallbladder suggested to come out now. I’m worried I did this to myself on zep.

I have been having pain just randomly in my upper middle stomach. I was constipated, and I went to the first GP in my practice I could get into which wasn’t my doctor. She told me that she thinks I was just constipated and there’s no way it was my gallbladder, but I pushed to get an abdominal ultrasound while the ultrasound came back and said that I either have a 6 mm polyp or sludge ball. I also have a history of acid reflux and this feels very similar but different. It’s hard to explain. The original doctor still thinks it’s not my gallbladder, but my PCP says it could be so she referred me to a general surgeon. I’m not with him today and he said in his opinion, he would have the gallbladder removed. I’m just so upset because nothing else seems wrong with my gallbladder. My PCP said I could get a HIDA scan to check my gallbladder function, which is basically a test where they do an ultrasound while your gallbladder is pumping to see how it works. The surgeon said a HIDA scan was pointless. I’m not really sure why a scan of how my gallbladder is functioning is pointless when this could be a polyp and not sludge. They don’t know. Everything else looked normal about my gallbladder. I asked him what he was basing his opinion to get it out on and he said that it was based on my symptoms now I’m second-guessing myself if I described my symptoms correctly and it is just acid reflux and they found a polyp just by chance. I mean the original doctor wasn’t even going to do the scan, but I pushed for it. Now I’m having guilt that I did this to myself on Zepbound and ruined my stomach and gut health. I have three kids at home and surgery is not something I can take lightly, especially when I have a heavy baby to pick up and I won’t be allowed to for at least two weeks. I’m just wondering if anybody else had gone through something similar on the bound or had their gallbladder removed or had a sludge ball or anything relative to this experience. It’s just so hard when three different doctors don’t agree.

Side Effects Shot in the arm

Newbie here. Took my 4th shot of 2.5 ml this morning. My first 3 shots were in my stomach with no issues.

I had read some people saying that taking the shot in the arm was more effective. So I thought I’d try it.

A couple of hours after my injection, my head started hurting, I felt shaky, flushed and nauseous. First side effects in the four week process. I’d already eaten my normal breakfast about an hour before the side effects started. I immediately grabbed my water bottle and also ate a cheese stick. I’ve since been able to eat lunch, but still have a headache, nausea (but not like I’m going to throw up) and an overall feeling of blah!!

Has anyone else had similar issues from changing their injection site?

Personal Insights Zepbound not strong anymore after 2 weeks of not taking?

Ive been on zepbound for a year and have gone from 200 lbs to 139 in a year, currently on 15mg. I recently moved to another city and have been going out pretty consistently, thus leading me to miss 2 doses. I am on it again so I wouldn’t have to go down mg and do a whole thing, but I noticed these last two shots haven’t been as strong as before? Do I just need it to resettle in my system again?

Vent/Rant Scale frustration

Anyone else have an issue with scale accuracy? I had a Wyze smart scale that I have used for years and recently I had my doubts that it was accurate because the number fluctuated every time I stepped on it. I thought I had lost 17lbs since September 17th but I just got a new scale and the new one says I’m only down 6lbs. I feel like I’m starting from the beginning with recording my weight now and I just want to see progress! Ugh!

Side Effects Doctor says I have to stop zepbound 😭

After two middle-of-the-night episodes of severe pain, I went to urgent care. The urgent care physician suspected gallstones, but after an ultrasound that came back clear, I went to my gastroenterologist. He did a blood test that showed I had slightly elevated lipase of 67. That, with the episodes of severe pain that lasted about 2 hours with several runs to the bathroom to poop, caused him to diagnose pancreatitis. I asked for a HIDA scan and that came back “normal” with an 80% EF.

ETA: I have not had any episodes since stopping zepbound.

It’s been 2 1/2 months and I have been gaining back the weight, is there any hope of this being something other than pancreatitis?

Dosing Week 5 on 2.5mg and appetite and cravings are almost back to pre-Zepbound levels

My doctor doesn’t want to increase to 5mg until my follow up in December… What can I do? The first 3 weeks, I lost weight effortlessly and could easily resist cravings. I don’t even feel like I’m getting full easier most of the time anymore.

My average weight loss is still technically 1.3 lbs per week, but the weight graph is really starting to look like I’m hitting a plateau. I don’t want to wait until December paying $300 a month for a med that’s not doing much anymore

Diet/Health/Exercise Anyone else crave sweet things but not candy or dessert?

Post image
66 Upvotes

I drink 2-3 Olipops and 4 Topo Chicos a day. My first drink of the day is 32 ounces of water mixed with 12 ounces of coconut water, a scoop of Altima (sweet), unflavored collagen, and a scoop of orange (think super sweet Tang) psyllium husk mixed together to make pretty much a 44 ounce creamsicle. I crave something sweet all day. All day. But I don’t want any sweets that are food. I bought a Creami, nothing, when I am grocery shopping and walk through the bakery, zero, no actual “Food noise” but I absolutely have to have my sweet flavored drink. I used to drink only tons of water. The moment I got on Zep, I lost interest in water and it tastes weird. Pic of our beverage garage fridge that used to hold over flow groceries but with 2 of us now on Zep, it’s my “sugar” station. The beers my husbands and the drawer sodas just live here now 🤣. (I buy the Olipop on sale and stock up when I can, which is how I ended up here 🤣.)

First Timer Shot day and side effects

My first prescription just got sent in and I plan to start week after next. I’ve read lots of the beginner guide and other posts. Her are the questions I’d love help with right now.
1. If shot day is day 1, what day (if any) did you have the worst side effects? Trying to choose my shot day with a somewhat varying work schedule.
2. Shot in the morning or at night?
3. Do you typically experience side effects every week or just when starting or moving up a dose?
4. What app do you like best for tracking shot stuff? I already use Cronometer for food and won’t be changing that.

Thanks everyone. Nervous but excited.

Tips/Tricks Lilly Direct

I get my monthly prescription of Zepbound from Lilly Direct. Has anyone eles noticed they switched the needles they send in the kit? When I 1st started the needles had a cap on the needle & on the plunger.

Now just a cap on the needle part and they are way cheaper made, I have had several actually bend when trying to give myself an injection in the stomach area, and when I say bend I mean to the point I had to use another hypodermic to give myself my weekly dose. My skin is not that tough really, very poor quality hypodermics. You would think for $400+ a month they would send quality injectors.

Personal Insights Anyone had luck getting off to get pregnant and then successfully got back on after?

I met with my weight management doctor earlier this week. Shes satisfied with my weight loss, and doesn't think I need to lose anymore, and is supportive of me continuing the drug on a lower dose for maintenance.

However, I mentioned that my spouse and I were considering trying to have a baby (our first) next year. When I got on this drug I never intended to have kids, but over the last year and a half its something I've decided I really want to try for. My doctor told me they recommend being off of it for 2 full months prior to conceiving, and recommended I start titrating down now so its not such a shock to my system to just stop taking it cold turkey.

I'm honestly terrified that I will just gain back the 80 lbs I have worked so hard to lose over the last two years. I can't imagine having my old appetite/brain back on top of being pregnant and being able to NOT gain tons of weight during the process. I've also heard that its not as effective the second time around if you've already successfully lost weight, get off the drug, and get back on.

Its kind of making me rethink whether I want to put my body through that, I do NOT want to get fat again, but I desperately want to have a kid. I don't intend on breastfeeding if we are successful, so I would try to get back on it as soon as I could.

Has anyone had success with this?

Side Effects Side effects

I've been on Zep for 5 weeks. Sunday will be week 6 and my 2nd 5mg dose.i was fine on the 2.5, but since my first 5 I've had very nasty belching and sour feeling in my stomach. I've read to stay away from high sulfuric foods and have now made the adjustments. Did any of you experience this, and did it go away after your body adjusted to the new increase? It makes me not even want to eat.

Insurance/PA FEP BCBS Standard Prior Auth

I thought I was going to stick with MHBP for 2027 because I already have my prior auth from Aetna, but I heard that BCBS prior auth is even difficult for those of us who failed Wegovy to get Zep. BCBS Standard would save me money otherwise because the out of pocket max is $7000 for 2027. I just don’t want to deal with the prior auth stuff if it’s going to be as difficult as I am told.

Side Effects Hospitalized with bowel obstruction

So I am living one of my top biggest medical nightmares. I was put on Wegovy in February and switched to Zepbound in April. I have rapid gastric emptying (so had diarrhea 15+ times a day), and after trying tons of different things and getting an extremely thorough GI work up, they put me on Imodium 4 times a day for several years. Imodium stopped working and because I have hEDS, lipedema, and IIH, my doctors really wanted me to try GLP1s because they help with those issues evidently. I’ve had constipation issues the whole time on glp1, which was annoying but I did feel like it was better than the diarrhea which makes me feel awful, like my joints hurt and I get bad edema and ascites (they haven’t done a colonoscopy in a while, but they did rule out crohns a few years ago, I also have MCAS but the MCAS GI meds don’t help).

And so I met with my GI to see if there was anything I could take alongside it since the other things I had tried had just made me violently poop and I was hoping for a happy medium. GI suggested Citrucel tablets, once a day. I took one Sunday night and then another Monday night, and woke up Tuesday morning with the worst pain. It was like that knife stabby feeling in my lower gut. I was going pale and delirious and getting really bad orthostatic intolerance. Finally went to the ER - in total the horrible knife-like “I’m going to poop my pants immediately” sensation lasted fifteen hours.

Basically, I had a huge, rock-hard ball of poop obstructing my colon. It had backed everything up and caused stercoral colitis, meaning the pressure was inflaming and injuring the bowel wall. The GI doctors were very concerned about perforation, and said they felt trying to remove it by colonoscopy could perforate the bowel so that was too dangerous. They also told me that if it progressed or perforated, they guarantee that I could end up needing a colostomy.

I was finally able to poop it out, after several traumatizing and aggressive enemas. I’m not in the clear just yet and still in the hospital because now I have an ileus (muscle contractions in intestines has stopped in a certain area).

Not sure what this means for me now or what they’re going to advise me to do, but they don’t want me to take Zepbound much less the citrucel anymore. The nurse said she thinks I would be able to go back on zepbound, but I’m terrified of being constipated again. I also don’t want to go back to having the really severe diarrhea, and at the same time, I’m scared to take Imodium now too.

Has this happened to anyone else before, and what did they want you to do?

Anyway, this is your warning, do not let yourself get constipated on this med, and be safe about what you take since Citrucel in theory should have been fine and was suggested by my GI doc and OKed by my PCP. The citrucel was definitely the catalyst because I’ve been constipated for months and it was only the 2nd time I took the citrucel tablet that bam this happened. I saw that citrucel is bad for gastroparesis though so perhaps that’s why, since glp1 can cause gastroparesis. I also eat plenty of fiber though and stay very, very hydrated as well. Quite unfortunate. Giving birth was less painful, frankly, 0/10 definitely do not recommend.
