Discussion/Support 💬 Why are people scared to treat themselves?
Hello everyone! I've commented here before, but I've never done a full post. I'm also nor sure if I selected the right flair, but I picked what I thought was most appropriate.
This year, I made a commitment to finally lose weight after years of trying and quitting, and I've lost 37lbs since March! I feel amazing and very proud of myself. One thing that has made it realistic for me to stick to my goals is being able to treat myself now and again.
Yesterday, someone asked how often in a week people treat themselves, and some people said once every two weeks, some people once every month or two,and some people said not at all, which I found a little too strict.
Throughout my weight loss, I have treated myself a bunch. I took a trip for my birthday and ordered whatever I wanted including chicken and waffles, desserts, several cocktails, etc. I order junk food and drinks at the movies, and I eat high carb treats and drink tons of champagne when I go to parties, but I always know that I can't consistently eat like that. As soon as the fun is over, I go back to counting calories and eating lots of vegetables and protein, and it's served me well.
Essentially, I can't imagine never eating Mac and cheese every once in a while or never eating brownies again. For those of you who are extremely strict, how do you not feel like you're missing out on life, especially when it's possible to lose weight as long as you indulge sparingly? What do you all do at parties? Thanksgiving? Dinner with friends?
