Announcement MUST READ Clarification of all of the rules!

When a community has rules, they are to be followed. I am unsure why there has been a rise of posts that do not follow the rules, I'm going to assume it's because people don't check them - although they are on the right hand side of the screen.

I'm going to clarify all of the rules. Nothing should be confusing after this post. If you have an issue or want us to change a rule, feel free to leave a comment or speak to us through modmail. Do not DM the mods.

1. Before posting, check the pinned posts and the sidebar.
Checking the pinned posts means that you do not spam posts about a specific topic. When there is an issue, there will usually be a pinned post. Please post any complaints or worries under that specific pinned post. If there is a new influx of scams, PLEASE don't flood the community. We want r/Wattpad to be a place where people share their stories.
The sidebar exists to remind you of the rules. These rules should always be checked before making a post.

2. Be civil and respectful.
Disagreement is normal. Being frustrated at someone is also normal. However, expressing yourself by insulting another person is not tolerated. We will follow these actions up with an immediate ban.

3. Don't spam.
This is straightforward. Don't post the same thing over and over again. As for ads, you are prohibited from posting the same ad within 7 days of the most recent post.

4. Piracy is not condoned.
Piracy is illegal. Any form of piracy will result in an immediate permanent ban. Authors spend their time on writing their stories, and to unfairly steal their work to post on other sites/read them for free is not tolerated.

5. NSFW posts must be marked NSFW.
This applies if your book and/or post is NSFW. Any posts that are not marked properly will be removed.

6. Respect user privacy.
Providing personal information of another person will result in a permanent ban. Do not ever harass another user by revealing their identity.

7. No brigading or shaming
We don't care how pissed you are, or if you think you are funny. Brigading is annoying, it floods the subreddit and it can be upsetting for members of our community. Additionally, shaming users for their posts/books/anything is banned. Anyone shaming another person will have their post(s) removed.

8. Tag posts appropriately.
The orange tags are for ads only. If you would to discuss about a certain genre, other flairs are available. If you find that your post does not seem to go with any of the flairs, you can select 'Other'. Simply put, wrongly tagged posts will be removed.

9. Cover-related posts are prohibited.

Anything to do with your cover should go to r/WattpadCovers and not here.

10. Spamming fake reports are not allowed.
Any user caught spamming fake reports to target or harass another user (or even just to be annoying) will be banned. Do not waste our time spamming reports.

11. Topic not allowed.
Especially after the Wattpad guidelines updated, we noticed a lot of users talking about switching to AO3 or other sites. This is not allowed. Additionally, if you post about anything that does not have to do with Wattpad, your post will be removed.

12. No AI-generated content.
AI steals work. Using AI is unacceptable, and you are nowhere near an author if your books are generated with AI. If your book is edited with AI, or if you have asked AI about a chapter, or a plot line, or if your book has been near AI, your post will be removed. This includes your cover being AI. A simple Google search can explain the disadvantages of using AI. Plus, people don't want to read lifeless AI works.

13. No discussion on anything related of AI.
Harassing another person for using AI is prohibited. This falls under rule 2. You are not allowed to make posts discussing AI, whether in favour of it or not.

14. English only.
All posts should be in English. This does not include books. Our moderation team speak English, so it will help us moderate easier.

Any posts not following these rules will be removed.

I understand that some of you may disagree or feel that some of these rules have not been explained clear enough, and you are free to say that in the comments.

Weekly Promotion Bi-Weekly Self-Promotion! Advertising on the more down-low.

Welcome to bi-weekly Self-Promotion thread!

Advertise here with what (I hope) is fewer restrictions than normally posting in the feed! At the very least, story ads here require the following:

  • Wattpad story links (we're a Wattpad subreddit lol)

However, to interest users, it's recommended to include the following:

  • Story title
  • Blurb

If your submission doesn't appear, feel free to contact a mod! Reddit's spam filter will sometimes remove posts and comments, which results in a mod having to manually approve the post.

Reminder:

The post is set to contest mode, so the stories will appear in a random order, and child comments will only be seen by people who want to check them.

This post will be active for approximately two weeks.

Milestone Officially on an Ambassador’s Reading List!

I’ve been on Wattpad and writing for some time now. My first book gained some popularity and ranked 1st in a few tags, but it hasn’t gotten added to any reading list that I can remember.

So happy to see my second book of the series gain recognition and got added to a reading list from one of the ambassadors. I didn’t submit to it either, so J was quite surprised. 🥹

Hope everyone knows that dreams do happen, but jt’s all about patience and time. 🫶🏻

Looking For: Lost Books Is there a way I can read the original The Bad Boy and the Tomboy?

• Upvotes

This was the best book I read on Wattpad but before it got published. I tried to read the updated version but I just couldn't, the original has a special place in my heart and I even remember certain dialogues that are missing/ have changed. I loved there being 9 brothers. I don't like how Sam and Cedric became cousins- there's no rational reason for this feeling, just nostalgia. So, is there a way that I can access the original story?

• Upvotes

cuz like, im interested in writing, and i also want like a lot of readers but i dont even know the basics

What captures readers attention? Media? Description? Book Cover/Title?

How many words is a standard chapter in Wattpad that is long enough to be detailed, but not too long that it'll bore readers?

What do i do with the first part/page, an intro or the first chapter?

General Help why do i have 30 reads on a completely unpublished book

Hi guys, new Wattpad-der here.

I'm currently writing a BxB (eith slight horror elements) story called Arrabbiata (as in, the popular red-sauce pasta).

I haven't published any chapters yet and it's still ongoing, but I have 30 reads for some reason?

I do preview the book a lot, does Wattpad count those as reads? 😭

Other Rise in silent readers

I've been on wattpad for about 11 years now and at first, I was concerned about the rise in silent readers and lack of votes/comments. Now I think it sort of makes sense, the overall age demographic ranks higher. And with age, there's maturity, so you won't comment like you did when you're little.

I think what wattpad needs to do is allow silent readers to support authors anonymously via a tip jar *$*, that way authors know readers care.

Other Internally-induced Competition

This is so random and non-writing related, but for a couple of weeks now, I have been having this personal goal of achieving 15 daily unique reads. My story was posted last May 2026, and I have not got that yet. My most was 14. 14! So close 😅

It just started a random hope upon checking my stats. Now, I kind off develop this competitive feeling. It's ridiculous. Fun though.

I just want to share that haha.

Exactly as it sounds. Can’t click log in or my stories, they’re greyed out partially and non responsive, Home Screen won’t finish loading, I’ve tried literally everything and this has been going on for weeks now.

The Blighted Briar
Author: TracesOfInkk
Currently 2 chapters, about 3,000 words or 15-20 minutes of your time.
General synopsis: a shopkeeper/alchemist discovers that the local flora and fauna, which she relies on her shop and her village, are suddenly inverted— behaving in opposite ways as it should. In a world of dangerous contradictions, it will be up to her, her sarcastic but loyal companion Drats, and the local blacksmith Braun, to figure out what is going on in The Briar.

Thank you so much to anyone willing to take the time to read and give me some constructive feedback :) Always happy to do the same!

Fan Fiction Fantastic Beasts and the White Dragon

Hi everyone!

Like many fans, I always wondered what the next chapter of the Fantastic Beasts saga could have been. Since the story may never be completed on screen, I decided to write my own continuation.

My fanfiction is called Fantastic Beasts and the White Dragon. It follows Newt Scamander, Albus Dumbledore, Gellert Grindelwald, and new original characters in a story filled with magical creatures, ancient prophecies, and a new mystery that begins in Sicily.

If you're interested, you can find it on Wattpad by searching for "Fantastic Beasts and the White Dragon."

If you have the chance to read it, I'd be incredibly grateful if you could let me know what you honestly think. Whether you enjoy it or not, your feedback would mean a lot to me. I'm trying to improve as a writer, and I genuinely need to know what works, what doesn't, and how the story feels to readers.

Thank you so much for your time, and I hope you enjoy the adventure!
