First real death guard list

I’m having trouble tryna fill out my DG list and wanted some tips about how the army works from the other DG players, things I’m worried about are afflicting enemies since the plague caster and deathshroud care about it a lot and wondering what else I should flesh out the army with to help the DP get its lone op. There is no warlord because I was gonna run Morty but he is expensive and on the fence about it. I’m considering taking DG to a RTT next month I been trying to work out CSM but they feel too underpowered rn against most things. Also my plan is to have the blight lords and death shroud in reserves with the plague marines in the rhino.

This list has a pretty serious need for utility units.

Death guard doesn't function without a mix of poxwalkers and/or spawn.

Except in purge. Since VV just got purge, going tall is an option. In any other archetype, not so much.

Since you're going purge, Mortarion and a couple of PBCs might do well. A defiler, also. I feel like the core VV purge list right now is Morty, DP with RR, and a defiler. That's 920 points, and you can fit about 3 more 300-400 point blocks in, which could be BLTs, another defiler, PMs in a rhino, 2x PBCs, LOC+DST and an MBH or similar, 2x WDPs. I'm kind of liking LOC + DST, 2nd defiler, and 2xPBCs right now.

How are you feeling about bloat drones right now?

I like the fleshmower, even if it never seems to kill much. Because it is rare mobile melee pressure for us that survives a while with a healing enhancement or stratagem.

The plague spitter drone is great on paper but feels too specialized in play. When marines are 2W and many lists are heavier, 2D6 of 1W attacks is pretty anemic.

I’m still bullish on the deflated 11th edition HBL, because I don’t have a defiler and need some sort of long-range solution. You really, really need to mark your target with the LoV, though. Ideally the HBL would be cheaper or receive additional rules to compensate for cover and hidden.

Generally, not great. If you want a drone profile, take MBHs. If you want 4 drone profiles, are you sure? If so, I guess the fleshmower is alright. If you wanted to build a serious long range shooting list (LOV, 2 defilers, pbcs, maybe autocannon preds) then launcher drones can synergize, but the drones and preds are a bit too expensive right now, I think. Long range shooting is much harder now, so that archetype is suffering.
