Planning Christmas at Disney

Hey, all be easy on me here mom of six kids trying to plan a Christmas magic Disney trip only three of my six kids have ever been to Disney and that was over 10+ years ago. We will definitely stay off property because staying on property isn’t an option. I’m thinking Magic Kingdom one day and Hollywood Studios the other day. Only 2 park days is all we could afford for this trip maybe Seaworld one of our free days we’re going to stay down there for a week. We’re driving around 10 hours. Are we dumb for trying to go that time of the year for half of our kids first time to Disney should we wait and go at a less popular time or will we be OK?

Dates would be Dec 20-27th that we would stay in fl and we could go to the parks whenever in between those 7 days

My kids are ages 16-7 3 boys and 3 girls

Food, Drinks, & Dining Best place to watch football on property

Where are some good places to watch Sunday football? I’ll be down there in a few weeks and don’t want to miss the game. I was looking into going to City Works in Disney Springs or Rix at Coronado. Are there any other good places to watch? Looking for something that has good drinks and small plates.

AskWDW How do you cope with going to Disney as empty nesters? Missing the magic of when the kids were little.

Hey everyone,

We’re in the middle of the chaotic, magical toddler years with our 2 and 5 year-olds at Disney. The other day, watching them light up, it hit me out of nowhere how fast this time is passing.

I found myself looking decades down the road to when my wife and I will be in our 50s, 60s, or 70s, visiting the parks just the two of us after they’ve grown up and moved out.

For parents who have already lived through this and now go as empty nesters:

What was it like returning without your kids for the first time? Is it deeply sad, or does it become a happy, nostalgic memory?

How do you cope with walking past the spots where you used to push their strollers or hold their small hands?

Did you find a new kind of magic in visiting the parks as just a couple?

It’s making me want time to slow down, but I’d love to hear how parents further down the road navigate that bittersweet shift.

MDE, Lightning Lane, & Virtual Queue Lightning Lane vs VIP

Has anyone done both and would you be willing to share your experiences? I haven’t fully dug into lightning lane but it sounds like an intense process. Is VIP that much better if rides are the priority? My kids don’t care about the characters so the real benefit would be the rides and shows I guess. Do you still experience some lines with lightning lane? The pricing for VIP is insane but if I have to wait in lines I’d rather not even go. Thanks for any insight you can share!

Special Events & Experiences Entry time for MNSSHP

Looking for tips from experienced partygoers! I’m aware that many people will show up well before 4:00 to get in as early as possible, but with the high temps expected for the party tomorrow night, I was wondering if maybe it may be better for our family to wait until later so we don’t have to wait in the heat before even getting in.

So option A would be get there 4-4:15 and hopefully be in the park in 10-15 minutes, option B would be get there 3-3:15 and wait close to an hour to get in closer to 4. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Special Events & Experiences What snacks are free “included” in MVMCP after hours ticket?

I have never been to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, but this year I’m blessed to be going. I’m curious what snacks are included free with the ticket? Is popcorn included? I seen cookies and cocoa, apple cider, eggnog. But any thing else? Thank you!

Planning Animal kingdom or Epcot with two toddlers?

Doing a short Disney trip November 15-17 with our two toddlers ( 4 and 2 ). Staying at the grand Floridian. We've only been to magic kingdom once.

Plan is arrive Sunday, hang out at pool/ hotel/ maybe Disney springs

Magic kingdom early Monday am, mid day break, evening for more/ fireworks

Tuesday we are thinking either animal kingdom bs Epcot. They love animals, but we also do the zoo etc often. They like bluey but also love frozen, etc Epcot stuff. So torn! We are headed home after this park (driving back to Tampa) so no mid day break, just going as long as we can

Thoughts on animal kingdom vs Epcot for day 2???

Trip Report Really don't understand the hype

Was excited to come back to Disney World after many years ago attending as a kid. Husband and I both felt it was a huge letdown.

We don't have kids, but have heard of plenty of adults who go and seem to enjoy it. Lines were extremely long, thank goodness we had Lighting Lanes. But let's not forget about the nickel and diming for that...and oh, specific popular rides are going to cost even more if you want to schedule. You didn't use to have to pay for all of this. And it requires you to be on your phone scheduling additional rides for a good portion of the day. It's hard to even be in the moment.

And then the broken rides. At this price point, they should offer some level of comp if you waste 90 minutes to find out the ride is broken (Test Track). Also, the parks in general feel so out of date. The rides really need updated.

Even the lines to get snacks at the EPCOT food and wine festival got insane at points. I shouldn't have to wait 45 mins. for a croissant.

And the we heard they're jacking the price up even more next year. This place is a total scam.

If you are celiac or prefer gluten-free, I am curious what your favorite dishes are at Disney? Can be any place, any kind of food, sit down or on the go.

Planning First time Christmas at Disney

I'm second guessing this trip and need some help adjusting schedules or expectatiosn please.

We are set to arrive at Wilderness Lodge on 12/20 and depart on 12/27. For a little context- we are not very familiar with Disney. I haven't been in over a decade, my husband has only been as a child, and it's our almost 6yr old's first time. Tbh, we decided on this trip to get away from family during the holidays, and picked Disney since we rarely travel and thought it would be an easy trip with our kid haha. Only after we were pretty set on it did we realize it was one of the busiest times of the year.

Well, now here we are. I have a Disney travel agent helping with reservations and whatnot (AddMoreMagic as well), but I'm really doubting our initial park schedule. This is what I thought we'd do:

12/20 check-in
12/21 AK
12/22 HS
12/23 rest or DS
12/24 MK
12/25 Epcot
12/26 rest or DS
12/27 check-out

I was up late last night reading about how they close parks when they reach capacity, and I hadn't even thought about that. Ideally for MK, I wanted to get premier passes, lunch at Be Our Guest, a BBB reservation later in the day, and tickets to the pre-fireworks dessert party. I know I'd be lucky to get all of those, but now I don't know if it's stupid or risky to even try on that date. It's a lot of money and I would at least want some certainty it won't be totally wasted.

Is Christmas Eve at MK just insane? Should I rearrange the days? I think my only non-negotiable is Epcot on the 25th (Jodie Benson is hosting the Candlelight Processional <333), but other than that we could switch MK to the 22nd or 23rd? Ughhhh I don't know what to do and I am stresssssing. Help. Advice. Thoughts. Judgements.

Resorts & Accommodations AKL Jambo Refurb Status

I stopped over to AKL Jambo at the end of September when I was in the area for a work trip. The Mara QS was undergoing a refurb in tandem with a bunch of the rooms. I’m coming back down for vacation the full week before Thanksgiving and was curious if anyone has noticed The Mara being reopened and/or how the room refurbs are going. Thanks!

Planning Refurb timelines- Ever finish early?

I'm booking for April and was looking at Boardwalk, but see that its pools are going to be being refurbished through the end of April.

My kids are pool kids, so we'd prefer to book some place we have options.

My question is whether or not it ever wraps up ahead of schedule? Or if that's unrealistic.

Our other option is Yacht club.

Any insights welcome!

Special Events & Experiences VIP Tour Review

Hello all just wanted to give a view into our VIP tour experience.

We were a party of 5. My husband (39M) and I (33F) have been multiple times to Disney over the years but it was a first trip for my BIL (45M) and neices (16F and 12F). We were also celebrating my husband's birthday. We are generally thrill seekers.

We opted for a 9 hour tour. We met our guide in Animal Kingdom. We were able to do 4 parks, 15 rides, quick service lunch, Starbucks, VIP merch shopping, and were dropped off for Fantasmic. We hit all of the headliner rides we wanted except Remy because it went down.

I think one of the biggest perks for me was being able to be present and enjoy the day instead of worrying about planning, booking, and directing everyone. I loved that we could easily get front/back row. We were able to reride if we wanted. Also our tour guide was great at engaging every person in the group. We got great pics cause she would tell us where all the cameras were. Also girl kept us hydrated all day!

I don't think we would do it every trip but would for sure do it again with a larger group or if we had little ones with us.

Planning Solo Trip - Goal? Relaxation!

I am going to Disney solo for the first (and potentially last) time in a few weeks. I have 3.5 days. Staying on property. I have been to Disney several times previously, including all Universal parks as well. I have been to Jollywood once on the year it opened (I know it’s improved since). If you choose C or D, which party would you choose if you were solo?

The goal for this trip is relaxation, good drinks, good food.
What would your ideal itinerary be?
(Editing to say that D should say “2 days single park days (AK and EPCOT), …” not (MK and EPCOT)

140 votes, 2d left
2 days single park days (MK and EPCOT), Disney Springs and resort hopping the rest of the time
2 park hopper days, Disney Springs and Resort hopping rest of the time
1x day EPCOT, 1x day MK Christmas party, 1x day Epic Universe
2 days single park days (MK and EPCOT), one night Christmas party (Jollywood or MK)

Planning Which is the right Walt Disney World theme park for my family?

I'm not sure which Disney World theme park is best for my family. My husband, my 19-year-old son, and I would like to visit Hollywood Studios to see The Wars Stars. Our twins are four years old, so I noticed that they don't have many rides for young children. I'm not sure if I should choose a different theme park or if Hollywood Studios is worth it.

Food, Drinks, & Dining International Food and Wine Festival - where’s the wine?

Headed to wdw next week. Will be at Epcot for two days (I love that park so much)

I think I’ve been in Epcot during this festival before but I’m looking through my Disney world app on my iPad and I see all the different kinds of food. What I don’t see is wine.

Where should I be looking to find the wine?
