News It’s happening!
It appears that YouTube is finally dealing with ai slop. CreatorRant interviewed the owners of several demonetized channels, and the only link was the use of elevenlabs for the voiceover.

News New mini-series based on the Revolutionary war, that is entirely made with AI, will have SAG-AFTRA voice actors in it.
Personally, I'm on the side that disapproves of AI being used for stuff like this, and I cant help but wonder who are the VAs willing to work on this series. I'm worried wer might see any familiar, well respected names when the cast is revealed.

News Tokyo court sides with Kenjiro Tsuda, allowing "right to ones voice".
Even if it's in Japan, a win is a win. Tokyo is a massive hub for entertainment, so the precedent has global reach. I hope cases like this become more frequent, and opens the door for more of the same. After GPT backed down from ScarJo's accusations a few years ago it feels like AI has been making grounds quietly and unchallenged.

News Signed with Agency🥳
Hello,
Don’t have anyone to share this amazing news yet with. I’ve taken VO classes for about a year, told me manager I was interested in VO. Recorded a few commercial and animation samples. My managers sent it out and they let me know last week CESD was interested and sign the papers Tuesdays. I’ve had 2 auditions since with them already and it’s been great. Working on creating a set up in my apartment now so I’m not recording on voice memos in my non walk in closet surrounded by pillows lol (although they did really like one of my auditions despite the set up)

News Voices.com scam letter
A few people have already posted about this scam, but Voices.com is “inviting” people directly to audition for an “active project.”
The active project is stealing your voice.
This is the letter they’re sending out. Please be careful out there.

News Apparent Scam Appearing as Sponsored Facebook Ads
From Doug Turkel:
There’s a new wave of scam activity targeting voice talent, and it’s showing up not just in DMs or emails, but as paid, Sponsored Posts on Facebook, which can make them look much more legit at first glance.
Here’s the pattern:
- The ad is framed as “Escape the 9–5!” or “Start your flexible VO career today!”
- It claims to be hiring “Entry-Level Voiceover Artists” for $3,500–$5,500/month
- The job description is extremely vague (“record voiceovers, adapt tone, bring stories to life”)
- The ad links to a questionable freelance-job portal... the kind commonly used in known VO scam funnels
- The page running the ad often has fake ‘career advisor’ branding, no real company info, and a comment section full of people warning it’s a scam (with some negative comments mysteriously disappearing)
Why this matters:
It seems that scammers are now paying to push these ads into the feeds of VOs, which increases credibility for people who assume Facebook screens advertisers more thoroughly than it actually does. They’re using these ads to funnel talent into familiar scam patterns like:
- Overpayment scams
- ID-card or “account activation” fee scams
- Fake platforms designed to harvest personal data
- Requests to move off-platform to WhatsApp, Gmail, Telegram, etc.
If you see a VO “job” ad that:
- Makes big promises but provides no verifiable company details
- Links to an unknown job portal
- Comes from a page that isn’t a production company, casting studio, or agency
- Uses lifestyle marketing rather than project details
- Shows “Sponsored” at the top
…take that as a major red flag.
Don’t click or enter personal info
Don’t follow links to unfamiliar freelance sites
Do report the ad to Facebook
Do share warnings with the community to help others avoid being scammed
Stay sharp out there. Scammers adapt their tactics, but we're getting smarter too.

News Early numbers from an independent survey of 400+ working voice actors. It closes Aug 15 if you want to be counted
Full disclosure first: I run a voice over agency and marketplace (Voice Crafters). This post isn't advertising it.
We're not recruiting; our roster is closed, there's nothing for sale, and no newsletter is waiting to ambush your inbox. The mods approved this post.
Earlier this year I put together an independent, anonymous survey on the state of voice acting. Auditions, rates, platform cuts, AI, all of it. Just over 400 working voice actors have filled it out so far.
Some early numbers:
78% believe they've lost work to an AI voice.
57% suspect an audition they recorded was used as finished work, without being hired or paid.
63% say their rates have stayed flat or dropped over the past 3 years.
32% seriously considered leaving voice over in the past year.
Does that match your experience? If it doesn't, that's a good reason to add your answers.
The survey takes about 7 minutes. Anonymous, no name or email required.
It closes Aug 15.
After that, I'll publish the full results, this subreddit included, and hand them to journalists who cover the industry.
The bigger the sample, the harder these numbers are to dismiss.
Here's the link:
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfuKyWvmLyToVuc3zwTgGpBULErPGv_jomhp9TpjDuhsKrA3A/viewform
The form also exists in Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Arabic and Japanese. I'll drop those links in a comment so this post stays readable.
Happy to answer questions about the survey or the methodology in the comments.

News Recorded my first audiobook
Around 9 finished hours, available on Audible. I definitely learned a lot in how to streamline my process (punch and roll was a huge time saver). Worked with a small publisher and happy to say we're continuing the partnership, just need a few weeks break before starting the next one as it's a lot of work and I do this as a hobby and am doing a painting commission at the moment.
Just wanted to share that good news
