📌 MEGATHREAD 📌 MEGATHREAD — Week of October 11, 2026 for Pricing, Dating, ID, or Authentication Requests

**Post all new requests in this thread — a fresh one goes up at 9am ET every Sunday, so make sure you're in this week's before posting.**

We want this sub to stay a great resource for learning about vintage fashion, but we've seen a rise in low-quality posts from resellers. To keep quality high, please use this thread for pricing, dating, identification (ID), or authentication requests — posts made outside it will be removed.

To get the best answers:

* Share any research you've already done — comps, similar sold listings, brand history, etc.

* Include photos of labels, tags, or any identifying marks — these often hold the most useful dating clues.

* Include photos of zippers, snaps, or other hardware — zipper style/brand is a common way to date an item.

* Note visible wear and condition (stains, fading, repairs, missing pieces) — this significantly affects valuation.

* Mention fabric/material and any construction details (stitching, seams, care tags) if visible.

Posts asking for pricing, dating, ID, or authentication outside this thread will be removed. Thanks!

SWEET FIND! 80's dress found at a charity shop. Accessories include a lucite necklace that was my late MIL's and a fun bangle that I picked up at a yard sale. I wore it to work and my office mate said I looked like her 3rd grade teacher.

DISCUSSION What are some clothing features that are only found on vintage pieces?

What are some features of vintage clothing that are non existent these days or rare to come by due to fast fashion.

Additionally, why did these features matter? What purpose did they serve? Do you wish it would make a comeback?

Bonus if it’s 100% natural materials and/or high quality.

VINTAGE OUTFIT OF THE DAY 60s mod coat/dress

I found this thrifting. It is a super mod coat/dress. I say that because I think it can be worn either way. Now that it is fall, this would be an everyday outfit for me. My only gripe about it is the sleeves are a little short. It's more noticeable on the second picture.

This is the Peppermint Swirl Skirt Pattern by Candy Castle - to be honest, it gives me Cha-Cha vibes from the movie Grease. It reminded me the dance off scene! It’s fantastic for twirling!

Hi everyone, I just bought this Balenciaga City bag on Vinted for €250, but the seller just told me the main zipper pull is missing, and I think it's also missing a tassel. Does anyone know what I could replace them with, where I can find original ones, or what I should do?

VINTAGE OUTFIT OF THE DAY Thrifting OOTD and a jump

Went thrifting yesterday – wore a vintage Trilby from the German brand Rockel (long gone now), tweed jacket from the 70´s. I don´t know who made the jacket but I know it was made here in Sweden. Vest (and bag) by me. Armani tie from the 70´s. No-name trousers and two tone brown boots by Fratelli Milloretti. I know nothing about the brand but really like the boots.

Bought a couple of ties AND some lovely tweed. Got a piece that is 1.5 x 2.5 meters for $12. In my world that is a bargain! I saw a cool woman´s corduroy coat and hopefully it´ll end up in a loving home.

As you can see in the last pic Sigge is jumping again. The lump the vet removed was a tumour but not a malignant one.

SELF MADE VINTAGE🪡 what to do with vintage Hermes scarf that's too fragile to wear?

I have a beautiful Hermes scarf, but it's way too fragile to wear any more. I don't want to get rid of it but I'm at loss for what to do with it . Do you all have any ways you've upcycled or reused a silk scarf?

SWEET FIND! Scarves!

Post image

I've become such a plain dresser over the last decade. As someone who works from home, I usually just wears old tees and sweatpants. I've been slowly growing a small scarf collection from antique store finds. Today I finally worked up the courage to wear one! Here's a silly poem I wrote about it:

Box of Scarves

On my dresser sits a box.

It's where I keep my scarves.

Some are floral,

some are checkered,

some are silk

and blue.

I like to peek beneath the lid,

admire them and wonder...

if I could be a person

who dares to wear a scarf.

They clash with my old t-shirts

and pants lined with dog fur.

I'd feel like an imposter,

and it might be too obvious—

I'm not really a girl who wears scarves.

I can almost see her

if I just close my eyes.

Yes, she looks so chic,

effortless and bold.

I bet she wears red lipstick

and it doesn't smudge at all.

She probably pulls off bangs—

I'm sure they stay in place.

She was clearly born to wear a scarf.

What are the qualifications?

I'd like to earn permission

to walk among the audacious few.

Maybe once I have the right occasion...

I'm not sure they belong in the grocery store

or on a walk around the block

or at the gas pump.

Sometimes I put one on

and look into the mirror

for a little bit of practice.

I fold it back into the box

before anyone can see me.

What kind of life do scarf folk live?

I never see them out.

Maybe they spend their time underground,

in places I've never heard of.

I bet they all smoke cigarettes,

and wear some cool black boots,

sharing highbrow stories,

planning their next rebellion.

Maybe I could find a mentor

to teach me all the secrets

of the special scarf society.

Until then, my scarves are recreational,

purely aspirational.

SWEET FIND! Is anyone familiar with Coatcraft?

I picked up a wool snowsuit for my daughter that I found on marketplace a few weeks ago. The lady I got it from says it’s from the 50s but it is still in great condition. As I was doing a little mending on it tonight I tried to look into the brand and can only find enough info to make me even more curious about it.

Coatcraft was only produced in the 50s and 60s. They were made in a way that certain seams on the coat could easily be let out to accommodate a growing child. This particular jacket has a couple pleats in the back that could easily be let out. The pants that came with it have a very high rise and loose fit so they can definitely accommodate a growing kid too.

I love the idea of quality clothes that grow with a child, but the few modern brands like that are quite pricey so I’m going to have to keep an eye out for more this stuff.

Last picture is a model shot.

The thing I'm a bit worried about is the back length, but I'm not entirely sure how the jackets where supposed to fit in the 40's.

Jacket: Aero Rockafella

Jeans: Stanley Biggs and belafonte ragtime clothing

Boots: Sendra

ADVICE PLZ Halloween costume

I’m looking to put an outfit together for Halloween, my muse this time around happens to be Black Dynamite. I’d greatly appreciate any recommendations on any articles of clothing that would get me closer to putting this look together! Feel free to ask any questions you may have. I just can’t, for the life of me, figure out what material would be best for the pants. Corduroy maybe? Lmk!

ADVICE PLZ Could the painted wooden buttons on my 1960s vintage tweed jacket contain lead?

Thumbnail

Hi everyone!
I recently purchased a vintage American tweed jacket, which I believe dates to around the 1960s, possibly the early 1970s.
The jacket has what appear to be painted wooden buttons. Some of the paint has worn away over the decades, exposing the material underneath.
This got me wondering whether lead-based paint was commonly used on clothing buttons during this period, particularly in American garment manufacturing.
I know lead paint was historically used on furniture, toys and household surfaces, but I’m not sure how common it was on clothing accessories.
Does anyone have experience with vintage buttons or know whether lead-based paints were used on them?
Should I be concerned, or am I overthinking this? I’d rather keep the original buttons if possible.
Thanks in advance!

ADVICE PLZ How to repair vintage fur trim?

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hi all! I have this secondhand suede and fur jacket that I adore and have only worn a few times. I’ve just realized that on one side the bottom trim is coming undone and is very fragile. It rips easily to the touch. A friend of mine suggested getting a special double sided tape and then also gently sewing it— would that work?

1970s It seems a shame to let this collect dust in a jewelry box.

This is a 1974 Avon Queen Anne's Lace necklace that belonged to my great-grandmother. It seems a shame to let it collect dust in a jewelry box. I'm really not sure what I could pair it with tough.
