Showcase Created in Resolume using native effects

Hi all, /r/vjing mod here:
I'm trying something new to spur some creative collaborations across reddit music production subs and visual art / creative coding / new media subreddits.
Now that Reddit supports video comments / replies, I thought it could be a fun opportunity to a collaboration call / response format.
The idea:
Musicians, dj's, producers or anyone musically inclined: post a link to a track or mix that you have rights to and are open to having visual accompaniment to.
VJs / live visualists / creative coders: post a response to a track that inspired you with a video comment, or link to an interactive experiment you made!
If you are an AV Act that makes your own music or video, feel free to post here too for inspiration.
All genre's, styles, techniques, skill levels are welcome.
This isnt a contest!
There's nothing to win (unless anyone knows sponsors haha) other than learning of new musical or visual act, meeting a potential collaborator and making awesome stuff and having a good time:
Stay curious and creative!
Below are some subs I'll be cross posting / sharing this with - feel free to cross post to any i've missed:
Music Subs:
Visual Subs:
Mod's of any of the above subs - sorry if this comes across as spammy!
I thought about asking permission from each of ya'll but that felt onerous and slow (ask forgiveness etc etc). If you have suggestions or any feedback do not hesitate to reach out! Was thinking of something like this monthly pinned on /r/vjing where i have video comments enabled - would love if yall could help spread the word!

The poll passed, 21 of 26 for the full version, so it's live now as a trial. If you want the background, here's the original thread. Pick new flairs from:
The (not so very) old AI, Commercial/Promo and Open Source/Free flairs are retired. That moves into the title now, via two tags: [Promo] and [AI]; the reason for this is that a post can't have multiple flairs.
Tag anything for sale: [Promo] If your post sells or monetises anything (paid app/plugin, commissions, store links, Patreon, donations), put [Promo] in the title. Untagged promo may be held for review or removed. This isn't anti-selling but keeps promotional content visible.
Your own app/suite: one post per month Sharing a tool you made (paid or free, including vibecoded projects) is limited to one post per 30 days per person. Talking about other people's tools (Resolume, VDMX, TouchDesigner, indie tools made by others, etc.) is not limited; post about those freely.
Flag AI-made work: [AI]
If a post shows content that has a significantly AI-generated component to it, add [AI] to the title so people know what they're looking at before they click. This is especially required when you're also promoting/selling it. AI-made and AI-assisted work is welcome here, but flag it. This includes (but is not limited to) vibe-coded materials, vibe-assisted materials, gen-ai content with manual edits etc.
////
AI work is welcome, made or assisted, no problem with it. If you're just sharing a project or messing about with something new, the only real asks are to flag it if there's a significant AI component, and to add [Promo] if you're selling or allow for donations .
///
We are also experimenting with automod/modbot. There's also a report option now for promo that goes up untagged, and automod will quietly flag posts that look like they're missing a tag so we can take a look. It won't remove anything on its own, a person still checks first.
///
It's a trial, same as last time. If the wording's off or something feels wrong, stick it in the comments and we'll sort it. Cheers.

In this set, I wanted to create tension by combining the dark and disturbing with the attractive and sensual.
Seven original VJ loops are combined with effects, trimming, random playback and more to create an extensive Resolume deck.
I even created calm and active versions for most of the columns, making it easier to visualize the drop. Mix between columns and layers to build a flowing mix that stays on-theme.
Let me know what you think!

Motion graphic jobs for a/v companies, do they exist?
Im a skilled video/ projection artist, my work is mainly personal and experimental projects that I do in a fine art context. My work usually “wows” people , but it doesn’t pay much.
I’d like to think there’s a world where I could be hired by local a/v production companies to design motion graphics/ projection mapping for their clients. I live in a city that has lots of conventions and big corporate events, so there are quite a few of the these a/v companies.
What I want to know, do these types of jobs exist? Who does the designing usually for projected motion graphics at events?
A few things-
I’m 100% happy with boring corporate work.
I’ve tried to shop myself around for this sort of thing, where I’d be using my own equipment, or renting it. But my projectors can’t compete with the professionals. And I found my budget would be drained by the cost of rental equipment. So I want to work with an a/v company that has their own gear.

Please pardon the slop, maybe this free tool is helpful to someone else.
For adapting 2d content to a full dome show I was looking for a simple tool to move some layers around, simulate the view and create a live dome master. Blendy Dome VJ appears abandoned and i couldn’t find something similar that supports Syphon input.
Dome Sim allows you to input images, videos, syphon or (virtual and real) cameras, move them around a virtual dome and get a feel how the content may behave. It can output the full dome master via syphon or to a dedicated monitor/output.

Hey r/vjing,
Aitor (Blub VJ) and I (Subtiv) played visuals on the Boiler Room stage at Pukkelpop in Kiewit, Belgium, on 22–23 August. We are allowed to share content from four sets between us: Mirage, Lauravioli, Casper Cox and FAISAL.
Pukkelpop shared their stage recordings with us, so we cut them into a short film. It's mostly the LED ceiling and screens over the whole tent, edited to Kangding Ray's "La Route". Having the ceiling above the crowd instead of one wall behind the DJ changes how you think about content, so I developed a lot of shaders.
Setup-wise, we both ran VDMX, and almost all of the content was ISF shaders rather than pre-rendered clips. Being generative made it easy to tweak and adapt live to each set and to the shape of the ceiling, instead of being locked into fixed footage; where we did use fixed footage, we used MadMapper for different duplication/mirroring setups.
Also, as you'll see in the video, the LED screens were crap; you had to stand directly under them and look up to have a "correct" view, which made it all the more challenging.

Hey everyone! I’m a solo developer making Desktop Rave, an VJ incremental desktop companion. It reacts to any music you play on the Windows, think Bongo Cat but reacting to the beat of your music.
After nearly one year of development, I just released a free demo on Steam, would love to gain some feedback from the community :)
Play the demo: Desktop Rave on Steam

I love creating responsive visuals that respond very naturally to the music. What are your favorite ways of doing this?
To start, I'll list some of the most common and effective ways:
- React to input volume, changing the size or strength of an element accordingly.
- You can also react just to certain frequency bands, like bass/mid/treble. You can also split it up further, but I'm not sure how useful that is (I just stick to bass/mid/treble).
- Beat detection: introduce or change an element on beat frames. Beat detection algorithms work best if you focus on the bass frequencies / add a low pass filter first. (This is actually the simple trick behind many of my best visuals, together with feedback.)
- Old school: directly visualize the current audio stream, either in the time domain (samples) or frequency domain (FFT bands).
I also experimented with these:
- Track actual notes that are being played. Since modern music is pretty consistently recorded and performed in A=440Hz, this works surprisingly well (though I'm still working out the details).
- Automatic tempo detection. To be honest, I haven't found a reliable way to do this (except for simple four-on-the-floor beats), but also: what's the point if you can just tap the tempo?
- Track volume variance or beat density of the music, to notice changes in intensity.
Some of these last ones are not useful to create immediate responses to music, but track changes over a longer time window. They're more useful to notice changes in intensity. For this, it's also useful to note that less intense sections (breakdowns) tend to have more mid and less bass and treble than intense sections.
Anyway, that's what I have experimented with.
Anything I'm missing?
What are your favorite ways to analyze and use live music streams?
(Feel free to link to example videos.)

Re-rendered one of my old Projects but added more intense glitch stuff what do you think?
I used Blender in this + resolume ofc for the glitchy stuff, the propose was exploring old stuff I did and give it a bit of new direction with my taste now not back then.
I am still considering to release that as an updated version of old clips.
