Discussion Best Frenzy Skin strictly based on SOUND EFFECTS? 🔊

Following the Shorty showcase, which had amazing fan-favorite winners like Neo Frontier,

it's time for The Frenzy!

For the Frenzy, the sound effect is crucial in close-range battles. I'm focusing strictly on the audio—reloads, blasts, and chimes.

For me, the Elderflame Frenzy is the clear winner; its unmatched!

I want you to close your eyes and listen to these. Which gun has the most satisfying sound for you?

Discussion Is there some logic behind why controllers are so common in Swiftplay?

I swear, 80% of my Swiftplay matches in the last couple days have had double controller on at least one of the teams.

I don't understand lol.

Question Who are the best solo carry agents for each role?

I was silver 3 last season with a 1.72 Kd and I’m wondering what are the best agents for each role that can carry or are self sufficient. I usually fill every match and I’m ok with playing every role besides initiator.

Question What are some gaps in my mechanics?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Plat 1 here, I feel like I do deserve this rank (more so Gold, since I really just don't feel like my mechanics are strong enough to be in Plat), and I just want to ask people what are some gaps in my mechanics that are preventing me from winning more 1v1s. I do have some knowledge on how to peak and stuff but they are still a WIP. Thus I recorded this, though normally I try to play deathmatch without sound as I heard it improved your aim better. (If it's too long please tell me that too)

Honestly? I feel despaired as while I have improved from Bronze earlier this year, my mechanics have not gone up alongside my game sense as much. Any comments would be appreciated.

Discussion Valorant agent buffs

Hello, I am beefman, and I like to play valorant

As you all know, I am a valorant player. Therefore, one of the things about valrant is that it has agents. These agnets are in the game and they deserve buffs.

They deserve buffs because i lose my matches because my agent is too week. Also I think they should win me more matches.

Because i am a valorent player, i thought itd be fun to give my ideas of what I think some fair valorunt buffs would be!

Enjoyment!

Astra: stars have no windup time.

Breach: Fault line now knocks agents into the air like his ult does

Brimstone: Orbital Strike creates a molten crater that persists after the beam and damages anyone in it.

Chamber: headshot kills with headhunter spawn a slow field

Clove: Not Dead Yet is available at the start of every round

Cypher: Spy Cam can hold and fire weapons

Deadlock: Grav Net Cocoons enemies

Fade: Seize drags opponents to the center of its radius

Gekko: globules last forever and have no cooldown after reclaiming

Harbor: High Tide, Cove, and Reckoning are all always shielded, and the shields are indestructible

Iso: Double Tap has 150 hp

Jett: 1.0 jett (3 seven second cloudbursts, 2 updrafts, instant tailwind, and ult right click has 3x headshot multiplier and refreshes on kill)

KAY/O: Ulting grants aimbot

Killjoy: turret weapon is replaced with Odin

Miks: M-Pulse affects anyone who can hear it.

Neon: High gear provides a +100% speed boost and +100% jump boost, and maintains the speed boost while airborne

Omen: Shrouded Step has infinite range

Phoenix: Any time phoenix damages an enemy with an ability, they catch fire, and take continuous damage until they put it out by holding F

Raze: all explosive radiuses are doubled

Reyna: smells better

Sage: Healing orb makes the target immune to debuffs and invincible while active.

Skye: Trailblazer is replaced by Dragon. Dragon can fly and does 150 damage on hit, alt fire to shoot a phoenix molly.

Sova: You can buy up to 10 arrows each round. Any arrow can be used to use Shock Dart, Recon Bolt, or one shot of Hunter’s Fury

Tejo: Guided Salvo has 4 charges and regains a charge every 50 seconds

Veto: Interceptor can zap players, guns, and the spike

Viper: toxins deal 150 decay damage

Vyse: razor vines inflict the jammed debuff

Waylay: hindered enemies are completely frozen

Yoru: Fake tp creates a blindside that flashes people looking at it

Okay, those are my agent buffs for varolant. Thanks for reading! I’m going to go play more valorent and then go to bed

Discussion How do you feel about the new Valorant ruleset?

Might be controversial here but I think the idea is fine behind it, but the executions are always mediocre. I have seen many people being banned or muted for the strangest reasons. As much as I like Riot for being the only company that has an FPS game that isn’t mass filled with cheaters (yes cheaters do exist but they usually get banned within a few games unless you have a rare occassion).

I wonder if the fact that trolling and griefing happens a lot more due to YouTube content and degenerates coming over to troll people, made Riot way more strict. I feel like you can be banned for anything nowadays especially if you make a point to somebody and they take offence to it and start annoying you the entire game or simply just underperform in your ranked game to the point the Reyna in your game is calling you trash.

Question Why do i always get high elo opponents?

I only play competitive and im currently in Bronze 3. (Mumbai server)

I'm at early B3 which means a single win or loss promotes me from B2 to B3. All my teammates are from Bronze, but my opponents, minimum two silver players, S2 and once even got a gold player.

There isn't a single game in the past 2 weeks where i had opponents of comparable ranks. Aaand we lose every competitive match, mostly by guys who are in S2 but peaked G3. This is totally not fair, is it only in Mumbai server or what?

Discussion I got sick and lost my voice

As the title said, I got sick and lost my voice and a guy in a game asked ‘why aren’t you using your mic to comm? You clearly have a mic?’ My voice is gone due to my coughing and it’s barely a whisper so my mic couldn’t catch my voice no matter how much I tried, so I gave up speaking because I don’t want to actually lose my voice cause of this game, and I’ve decided to never play Valorant when I’m sick again, this is more of a rant than anything but seriously got blamed for no reason lol

So that means I would've gained 3 RR if I'd played like complete trash? I'm not even saying that to complain, I know my MMR is abysmal and I honestly don't care. It just makes me laugh to see GREAT PERFORMANCE for a +10.

Esports Valorant itself has bad mechanics, and I feel like Riot knows it.

I feel like some of Valorant's mechanics are poorly designed.

I'm talking about the Judge, Ares, and Odin, not the Bucky, which I think is perfectly fine.

I watch Daily Dose of Radiants to improve my gamesense, and I recently saw a pro's ranked game where an enemy Neon almost exclusively bought the Judge. His positioning was so good that his team struggled to outaim him. He started all-chatting things like "need Kovaaks routine," and honestly, I understand his frustration. However, I think the problem is the game's design, not the player using what's available.

Compare Valorant's Ares and Odin to CS2's Negev and M249. In CS2, you can't simply buy a Negev and blindly spam Dust 2 Long expecting easy kills because sustained fire is difficult to control. Valorant's machine guns, on the other hand, can make sustained spam feel too forgiving.

I also think Neon's movement challenges Valorant's fundamental mechanic of having to stop to shoot accurately. Yet whenever someone criticises these mechanics, the response is usually "skill issue" or "just aim better."

If the answer to every complaint is to outaim the opponent, shouldn't we also question the mechanics themselves?

I'm not blaming players for using these weapons or agents. I think the Judge needs reconsideration, the Ares and Odin could use better-balanced firing mechanics, and Neon deserves a discussion about how her movement fits into a tactical shooter.

The pro's frustration in this video was understandable, but I disagree with blaming the players rather than the game's design.

Why does the community dismiss so many gameplay balance criticisms as skill issues instead of discussing whether these mechanics are healthy for competitive Valorant?

Discussion This new competitive map pool is the worst one the game has seen yet

I'm not going to pull an old valorant-er shakes fist at cloud moment here, but the current map pool that came into effect at the start of this act is certainly the worst set of maps I have ever played.

Don't get me wrong, I like some of the seven, but having only one or two to wish for when queuing for an entire 3 months is really disheartening, and makes me not as excited to climb as previous acts' pools have made me.

On top of this, the system in place whereby we have 7 maps only in a competitive season that lasts about a few months is just poor implementation. This sort of thing worked when there were only around a small litter of maps to choose from, and when one new one came out, one old one had a respite.

The issue now is that there are 12 maps in the game now, and there is a great variety of opinions and objective truths about each of them. Some maps are better than others, ill say it. Some maps are overplayed, some are underplayed. In the same vein, some are overhyped, and others are underhyped.

The issue with the current systems in place is that no matter the playerbase's opinion on these maps, they do not influence what gets played. Instead, devs choose which ones get phased in an out in droves, which can throw players off kilter and in some cases just kick their love for the game out the window because there is no security in the maps they enjoy playing.

That is why I think riot should overhaul the map system. Fuck a chosen 7 for the whole act, and make a pool of around 10, that are chosen by a community vote. Make it a whole event where there is a bracket system if they really want to farm social engagement.

Then, once we have our pool of 10, lets see a banning system! Premier in CS has this and it works flawlessly. There are loads of maps to choose from, and each team before agent select gets to phase out the maps they dont want to play in sequential turns, and finally we get left with a map that both teams have worked together to choose, based off of a community driven pool.

I think this would also fix dodging entirely. I can't think of a single downside to this idea besides the fact that the banning system could lead to only 1` or 2 maps being played like we see in cs with dust and mirage, but that is an issue that the players themselves have fixed in that game by banning those maps first in direct protest.

What are your opinions on this? Am i fucking stupid or would this be an awesome addition?

Discussion Why is every UI worse than the last???

I'm sure this us already a heavily debated topic but why does the UI keep regressng?? I'm pretty sure in this batch of UI changes the probably used AI cause a lot of the aspect feel incredibly sloppy. We already had pretty good UI in this game but the first change they made in recent time was decent after we got used to it but after that every few months they keep tweaking it and every new one feels worse than the last lmao. For ex: just look at the new afk indicator in the scoreboard after the game and you'll probably agree with me. It is just half assed.

Question fully switching to valorant after being completely tired of the bullshit valve does on cs2, whats the most different stuff ill have to adapt to?

i already didnt like the fact that valve doesnt do shit for the player base but just kept playing cuz i liked the game. the point where i draw the line is where i have to limit myself on how i play just to not get a cooldown by the shitty ai anticheat. this happened to me yesterday and im pretty sure im not touching cs again if not when i need money from drops (also no im not gonna play faceit. i refuse to scan my id for their "smurf checks" just to play a videogame). i already played valorant but never got past casually playing swiftplay or the 2v2 mode. apart from counterstrafing and recoil control, what should i adapt to first? im a phoenix main and dont have any friends to play the game with (only person i know that has a pc only plays roblox or sometimes cs2 and says valorant is dogshit because it needs him secure boot on and has abilities)

Discussion Who could be a good Duelist for me based on the other agents I play?

Right now, Duelist is the only role I can't fill. For any of the others, I wait until someone picks two of the 3 (Initiator, Sentinel, or Controller), and then I fill whichever role wasn't picked (unless all 3 roles are picked by at least 1 person; then I just play whoever I feel like atm).

Right now my main Initiator is Fade, and Sova specifically on Split. My sentinels are Killjoy on Abyss, Sunset, and Breeze, and Deadlock everywhere else. And my main Controller is Omen everywhere.

Edit: I'm Bronze 3 currently, almost Silver.

Question Why are people's mental so bad (In ascendant)

This might be confirmation bias but in a lot of the games I have lost in ascendant elo are people who have such a weak mental that they either just don't care anymore and start throwing or get toxic. I just had a match where the clove said he was getting tilted because of the entire team on round 1.

How can you have such a bad mental, especially in the rank where it matters the most.

Discussion What is considered high elo now?

I have recently come back to the game after a four year break, and back in 2022 when i was super active, high elo was from the perspective of myself as a platinum player at the time as anything above plat.

Yesterday I just ranked up to ascendant, and during my 2 week climb I have made a few posts on here talking about nobody using voice chat and making silly decisions that you would typically see in low elo lobbies.

I come to then find out that there are many different views on what constitutes "high elo" which range from anything from plat and above to immortal and above.

I suppose I'm asking this in an attempt to predict how long it will take for me to not have to be confused as to why my teammates are behaving like golds when I am in much higher lobbies. What rank knows they are a high rank and thus takes themselves seriously when playing ranked? The climb from gold to asc was mainly impeded by a lack of comms, arrogant and fragile-egoed teammates, and trolling.
