Im applying to master’s programs this cycle, with some of my earliest deadlines around December 1, and I’m having trouble getting responses from professors about recommendation letters.

I initially emailed several professors I’ve taken classes with and who I thought could speak positively about my work. I have also sent follow-up emails, but most of them still have not responded. I understand that this is a busy point in the quarter, so I don’t want to keep emailing them to the point where it becomes annoying.

So, I wanted to ask if it’s normal for professors not to respond to recommendation requests through email as it has been 2 weeks? Another thing I could try is going to their office hours, but I can’t find the times since I’m no longer in their classes. If anyone knows how to find those, it would be very helpful.

The question is in the title! Warning: I have a certain degree of OCD and I promise I'm not trying to be mean..but seriously..WTF??

I go in the bathroom and it's disgusting! Hair gunk in the showers that clog the drain (it'snot that hard to grab paper towels and pick up your hair after showers), toothpaste in the sink (takes 3 seconds to rinse it out), period blood on the toilet/floor (Really?? Does hepatitis/HIV mean anything to you?), and the lack of handwashing is 🤮🤮🤮 I hope you have your polio vaccinations because fecal matter is how it spreads! Someone came out of the bathroom after taking a duece, looked in the mirror and just walked out! I used the restroom the other day and heard a girl brush her teeth, use mouthwash but didn't bother to rinse the sink out when she was finished! No one wants to see your spit in the sink! Again 🤮🤮🤮 The RAs told us about this during welcome week and about being courteous and cleaning up after ourselves due to the dorms being shared spaces, but it seems like no one gives a shit! I'm so scared of touching nobs and handles, I use paper towels to turn on/off the showers and open doors because I'm afraid of getting a fungal infection or worse lol..it's not funny but I couldn't help but laugh at how gross this is. Y'all are young girls/women! Did we not learn about personal hygiene or etiquette from our parents? I feel sorry for your future partners if this isn't corrected. I don't expect you guys to be neat/clean freaks, but pretty please have some sense of class and consideration for others so we're not passing around staph infections! Am I the only one who is bothered by this or do others feel the same way and just don't say anything?

So since I moved in last month, I have had my Xbox Series X registered within the ResWifi-Devices network. I have the correct wireless MAC Address registered and have been typing the password in correctly yet I still can't connect for whatever reason. I have been using the guest wifi since which has worked perfectly until yesterday. Whenever I connect, it says that "It cant connect to the DHCP server". Has anybody else had this exact same issue? If so, how do I fix it? I've contacted IT and so far they haven't been that much of a help.

Hi everyone! I'm looking for people to join me for the Ideathon(we get money if we win!). My idea is an AI powered stuffed toy for children. It can teach children, play interactive games with them, provide emotional support when they're having a hard time (like dealing with bullying), and encourage them to participate in activities with their families. I'd also like the toy to have physical movements and interact with children in a more engaging way. One of my main goals is to prioritize child safety, since current AI toys can sometimes generate inappropriate or harmful responses.

CSE 101M might genuinely be the easiest class I've ever taken. I still don't understand why it's considered an upper-division CS course when it should honestly be a GE. The homework and exercises are ridiculously easy, and you barely have to study to get 100s on the tests. I'm convinced you could walk into an exam without preparing and still get a perfect score. I've genuinely never seen a class this free. Easiest A of my life. They should honestly make this class harder because it's almost insulting how little effort it takes.

Hello! Has anyone here successfully received a retroactive withdrawal? My advisor feels I have a valid case, and I’m currently waiting for the committee to review it. I’ve heard that retroactive withdrawals can be notoriously difficult to get approved, so I’m curious how true that is based on others’ experiences. Hello everyone I'm looking for a room mate to replace me at my current double in downtown Santa Cruz. You'd be taking a room and live with my current room mate for a year long lease.

the rent is 985 month not including utilities which average around 200 dollars. Its a 7 person cooperative house with very loving and supportive housemates of almost exclusively queer and trans people. Everyone mostly keeps to themselves but is super supportive of each other. If your more introverted, the walls are thick and all doors have locks.

There is a communal kitchen, two fridges, a massive backyard for parties or gardening, ample parking spaces in our own lot, an on sight washer/drier for laundry very tall ceilings. It is two blocks away from downtown Santa Cruz

I grew up playing soccer, and would love to join one of the intramural teams. I don't want to join and get my ass handed to me all over the playing field by people who really should have gone to a school that offered a sports scholarship. Are the intramural sports here casual enough for me to join in?

I live across the river and it is about a 40 minute walk from downtown to my house. I don’t have an e-bike so I solely rely on walking but it’s been getting darker earlier and my classes end at 7:30 pm on some days. There are a lot of tweakers and homeless people around my area so I was wondering if 1) it’s safe around 8:30 PM to walk around Santa Cruz 2) is there a ride share/carpool program with the school? Or should I just uber to my house??
