DHS’s ‘harassment’ of Ilhan Omar could backfire against Trump, expert says
The Department of Homeland Security searched Democratic US Rep. Ilhan Omar’s home with less than 30 days until the midterm elections. Here’s how the political stunt may actually boost Omar’s campaign—even as it instills fear.

Good companies that don’t do stack ranking and productivity monitoring?
My job has me so stressed all the time. Our director is constantly hiring new people and then firing the ‘bottom 10%’ to meet quotas. We also recently got enhanced trackers on our computers that track your activity including mouse clicks, keystrokes, app engagement etc. Rumor has it you cant go 90 seconds without clicking or typing before it flags you. And we have to be active 8+ hours a day. As a developer my keystrokes generally are down as we are required to use agents for code development versus typing every line and sometimes I find myself typing and clicking random things just to try to meet the quota. I get stressed when I have to use the bathroom or take a break.
It seems every corporation is heading towards a similar direction tbh so it feels so hopeless. I talked to some of my old colleges and a lot of the same things are happening…is the whole corporate world just cooked or is there still a unicorn out there? I am open to taking a gov job but with the economy the way it is and being a single income household the paycut is not ideal. Any ideas?

Indoor places to read and mope in the evenings in Minneapolis (bonus points if it’s in/near Uptown)?
I’ve been in a mood lately and I haven’t read a physical book in a while. Can y’all recommend some quiet-ish places to get out of the house and read and maybe mope as the weather goes on to get worse?
Somewhere that’s open after 6pm please, I like to read on weekdays too. I already know libraries are a nice option, just looking for variety + something cozier than the walker library. I’d love if it’s somewhere in/near uptown that I can walk to in the fall, but I’d be open to a short drive if there’s decent parking.

Thoughts on Constitutional Amendment Increasing School Funding on the Ballot for the Midterms
I'm wondering what everyones thoughts are on this. Sounds like the main thing is allowing the state to take up to 4.5% of the funds in the account and use it for school funding each year versus the current 2.5%.
I get that this would increase funding now but long term the investment won't grow as much at that usage rate so I'm not sure on the whole thing.
I know there are some other parts of it too that I don't understand but yeah I'm curious about what other people think about it and also what people think about the other changes in the amendment.
Here's a link for a little more info on the amendment although I think there is more to it then what is included here. Amendment)

Best bar to watch the Brewer Games?
So I'm moving from Central Wisconsin to Hopkins, Minnesota today and I have been a lifelong Brewer fan. Don't worry, I don't share the same sentiment for the Packers, and I always said that I wanted to be around my people should it ever happen that we get to a World Series. That might be becoming a reality here in the next 16 hours, so I was wondering where can I find a bar that's going to be packed with people cheering for the Brewers reveling in the fact that hopefully the dodgers are going to go home crying, getting swept for the first time in 23 years, as well as go through the highs and lows of hopefully watching my team play in the first World Series of my lifetime.
I would prefer something closer to the Hopkins side but I'm willing to travel to travel a bit if the atmosphere and excitement is right. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!!

Pseudoephedrine system down?
I've got a cold and tried two different pharmacies, yesterday and today. Both said their system is down. Has anyone else had this issue yesterday or today?
Not a meth dealer I'd really just like to be able to breathe today.

Anyone else at The Hall Lofts concerned about EMBER taking over our amenities?
I currently live at The Hall Lofts in the North Loop, EMBER, a private social and wellness club, is planning to open in Spring 2027.
An article about the project came out on October 7th, and yesterday (October 14th), residents received an email from management explaining the changes.
According to the email, EMBER will be taking over the first three floors of the Newell building, which currently include the arcade, bowling alley, full size gym, sauna, steam room, locker rooms & showers, yoga room, and coworking spaces. These amenities will close once construction begins, which is expected within the next couple of months.
Management says a new resident fitness center will be built on the first floor of the Falk building, and that our other amenities, including the rooftop terrace, pool deck, lounges, and coworking cafe, will remain available.
Personally, I’m pretty disappointed by this. One of the things that made The Hall Lofts appealing to me was the amenities and shared spaces available to residents. Now, we’re losing several of those spaces, and I’m concerned that the overall living experience will change.
I’m also concerned about the potential impact of EMBER on the building. From what I understand, the club will offer a full-size gym and around 100 classes a week. Considering that residents already complain about the ongoing noise from the current gym and bowling alley, I’m curious how much more noise and activity this new club and lounge could bring. How will the residents that have apartments on the first 3 floors be affected? I also wonder how having a private club operating across the first three floors will affect building access, security, and the number of people coming in and out.
I know we don’t have all the details yet, but these are things I’d like to see addressed before construction begins.
Management mentioned offering residents 50% off the EMBER membership initiation fee and monthly dues. However, I don’t think an optional paid membership necessarily makes up for losing amenities we already had access to as residents.
I’m curious what other residents think. Am I overreacting, or are others concerned about these changes too? Do you think management is doing enough to make up for the amenities we’re losing?
I’d especially like to hear from other current residents, but I’m also interested in whether anyone has experienced something similar at another apartment building.

title change to my sibling
Hi Igifted a car to my sibling that was a 2024 hyundai i got for 16,000 dollars a couple months ago after i got a new car, and wanted to do a title change now there 18. Though when I search it up, it says title change between siblings doesn’t waive tax fee.
Is there a way to go around this because i don’t want to pay the tax fee that would probably be 1,000$?

Complete Twin Cities Concert List, Friday 10/16
We're building a community here at crawlspace. We have a Discord with 1200 live music fans in it. We find concert buddies, go to shows together and talk music. Here's the invite
crawlspace picks for top shows tonight in the Twin Cities
- 7th St Entry - (Why The Lights Flicker North American Tour) Telescreens, Runner and Bobby, Nautics [8:00p] [18+] Indie Rock / Alt-Rock
- New York’s Telescreens brings heavy guitars, pounding drums, and big, full-throated hooks to the Entry behind their third album, Why the Lights Flicker**. Chicago’s Runner and Bobby adds dreamy shoegaze textures and grunge bite, while fellow New Yorkers Nautics brings sharp guitars, restless rhythms, and emotionally charged indie rock. It’ll be a loud show with some moshing at times. FFO - The Strokes, Arctic Monkeys, Smashing Pumpkins, Slowdive**
- Underground Music Venue - Event Space - (Careful Gaze Release Show) Careful Gaze, In Lieu, Tabah, VIN, Nelsdot [6:00p] [18+] Post-Hardcore / Alt-Rock / Shoegaze
- Careful Gaze celebrates It Does Not Sleep with a Minneapolis bill stretching from heavy, emotionally charged post-hardcore to psychedelic jazz-rock and ambient electronics. In Lieu brings snarling grunge and noise-rock; Tabah adds soulful vocals and exploratory grooves; VIN connects intricate playing with heavy, atmospheric riffs; and NELSDOT brings experimental soundscapes. For fans of: Thrice, Deftones, Melvins, PJ Harvey
- Hook and Ladder - Theater - Letdown., Luchiano, Sikarus [7:30p] [18+] Alt-Rock
- Letdown. brings powerful vocals, emotionally direct songwriting, and big alternative-rock choruses to The Hook on The Happy Tour. Blake Coddington’s songs turn anxiety, heartbreak, and self-doubt into loud, communal release. Nashville-based Luchiano and Sikarus round out the bill, with Sikarus drawing on early-2000s alternative rock and hook-heavy songwriting after a decade in Nashville’s country industry. For fans of: Shinedown, Daughtry, Jimmy Eat World and Incubus

Hocus Pocus drive-in at MOA
Hello! I am trying to find where people might sell their tickets to “Movies at the Star,” the outdoor drive-in at the Mall of America. It is sold out this Saturday 10/17 for Hocus Pocus, and I’m hoping to buy a car ticket if someone can’t use theirs. Any ideas where people might post tickets they can’t use? Thanks for your help!

There was a house in Lakeville that had a fantastic Halloween display with lots of professional animatronics. I know they moved but I heard they are still in Lakeville. Does anyone know where their new set-up might be?

Recommendations needed for hairstylists near Edina that are actually good with cuts, for a thirteen year old getting her first salon haircut.
Looking for that Minnesotan hospitality!! Money does not matter as much as that its a nice, boujee type atmosphere, and that the hairstylist is a) actually skilled with shears (as most stylists these days specialize in color but cant seem to cut for shit despite charging insane amounts for just a basic cut. Even better if the stylist is somewhat patient, has worked with kids before, or is willing to be somewhat gentle and slow as the teenager its for can be very sensitive about sensations/sensory overload. I want to purchase a gift card and whatever product they sell at rhe salon for shampoo and conditioner. Thank you guys!!
